Merger discussion

I would like to oppose the merger of this article for the following reasons:

• There is "significant coverage" of the subject to comply with WP:GNG. Everything in the article is supported by citations.
• The content and creation section provides significant information about the character's creation and development that would be lost or condensed if merged
• Real world impact - the character played a pivotal role in the development of Hyrule Field, the centrepiece of Ocarina of Time and was a first for video games. Quoting Eiji Aonuma: Miyamoto "wanted Ocarina to be unique, and realized that there weren't any other games that involved riding a horse."
• The character is recurring in several Zelda titles, and appears in spin-offs and other video game series.
• Various gaming critics have listed the character as the greatest or one of the greatest video game horses of all time. Fieryninja (talk) 14:22, 23 September 2022 (UTC)

• Support the opposition. English is weird. But yeah, I think the character has enough significant coverage from reliable sources, as well as enough out-of-universe notability.

My reasoning is that gods and goddesses are not fictional, they are part of religions, so if anything it would be Epona (goddess) 2605:B40:1303:900:A0E1:7DCB:3582:9C6F (talk) 13:45, 20 October 2023 (UTC)

The agreed upon by WP:CONSENSUS guidelines for the Video Games WikiProject state the game should be used as disambiguation unless the character would be the same as the game's name. There's no real indication why this is an exception. ᴢxᴄᴠʙɴᴍ (ᴛ) 19:53, 20 October 2023 (UTC)

I feel like that one was simply called that because Min Min (Arms) (which would be the proper title; the game is called Arms (video game) would be confusing. It's not the same circumstance, and there are massively more character articles disambiguated by their game, such as Ridley (Metroid) and Kane (Command & Conquer) among others... ᴢxᴄᴠʙɴᴍ (ᴛ) 20:29, 20 October 2023 (UTC)

My point is, Min Min is the only fictional character with that name (with an article), and so is Epona 2605:B40:1303:900:A0E1:7DCB:3582:9C6F (talk) 21:54, 20 October 2023 (UTC)

The thing is, the goddess Epona could still be called a character in my view, if a mythological one, in contrast to the video game character Epona (The Legend of Zelda). So "Epona (character)" would be somewhat confusing. Daranios (talk) 16:29, 21 October 2023 (UTC)
