Requested move edit

The following discussion is an archived discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. No further edits should be made to this section.

The result of the move request was: moved. Consensus at WT:RM is now to close RMs that have received no objection, rather than relisting (non-admin closure). Jenks24 (talk) 18:40, 6 July 2011 (UTC)Reply

WhymcycleEccentric-hub scooterRelisted. Jenks24 (talk) 06:31, 28 June 2011 (UTC) Whymcycle, Ingo-bike and Kangaroo scooter[1] are all used; none appears to be generic. It's also apparently been sold under other names. --Theodore Kloba (talk) 21:23, 20 June 2011 (UTC)Reply

Other issues edit

  • It's not clear whether Peter Wagner uses Whymcycle only for vehicles with an eccentric wheel hub or for other types. Not much can be found about him: Peter Wagner, Whymcycles
  • The Ingo-bike history seems to have come from here: Incredible Ingo. The text of U.S. patent 1,679,819 referenced on that page, dated 1928, describes a somewhat different vehicle called a "Galloping scooter" invented by Rollie Fageol, not the Huyssen brothers; their U.S. patent 2,125,568 is dated 1938.
  • Incidentally, searching USPTO for class 280/229, U.S. patent 1,664,864 describes an eccentrically-powered scooter that predates their work. It appears that The Huyssens didn't invent the whole class of eccentric hub scooter, but made key improvements.
  • Might want to mention that an Ingo-bike shows up in The Three Stooges' Yes, We Have No Bonanza [2]. --Theodore Kloba (talk) 21:23, 20 June 2011 (UTC)Reply

Editing 17/7/2012 edit

I have added a diagram of a generic scooter (File:Eccentric Hub Scooter.svg), and put in all the references I could find on-line. I have removed the reqdiagram and reqphoto tags from here, but if people think more pictures are necessary, replace them and I can try and produce all the variations. I am not sure if I have done enough to remove any or all the 'issues' tags. Egmason (talk) 13:20, 17 July 2012 (UTC)Reply
