Before this gets a more thorough review, may I suggest a couple of improvements: firstly, make sure every paragraph ends with a citation (that's a very good yardstick at GA level). Secondly, the refs would look better - in my personal opinion - if they didn't repeat the full details of the book(s) each time, just for different page numbers. Consider a full reference and lots of short refs. Anyhow, just a couple of suggestions, doesn't look failable at GA - though I'm surea picture of the man himself would be greatly appreciated. 19:23, 7 May 2009 (UTC)
In the "Politics and Arrest" section, why not explain what crimes he committed or was charged with instead of saying he "violated the Volstead Act"? That's obscure and readers won't know what it is. Save them the trouble of having to read another wikipedia entry. Terriblefish (talk) 18:20, 12 August 2011 (UTC)Reply
This entry is biased, containing an almost entirely one-sided account of his biography that is devoid of context on the nature of the coal fields at the time of Chafin's tenure. For example, Chafin, with the full force of the law on his side, organized 2,000 deputies drawn from middle class volunteers and veterans groups - including several medal of honor winners - to defend against 10,000 armed miners intent on killing him and sacking the courthouse, and defeated them thoroughly with a very small loss of life. The narrative should be balanced through the inclusion from other sources, including a biography and primary sources — Preceding unsigned comment added by Nothing Extra (talk • contribs) 11:18, 22 April 2014 (UTC)Reply
