Revert edit

Removed a change to the document since it was an opinion by anonymous user with no citation provided and removed information to make it look more like a promo for the show. Gordie 18:19, 5 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Proof is not equal to percent edit

In "Dom Joly's Happy Hour" it says "After that Joly hilariously visited Russia, trying 80% proof homemade vodka;..."

80% alcohol is 160 proof, 80 proof is 40% alcohol. From context, I suspect it's supposed to be 80%, but not being positive I didn't want to change it. --StarChaser Tyger 03:17, 20 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

Attended school with Osama Bin-Laden? edit

Someone inserted a line of text referencing that while in Lebanon, Joly attended high school with Osama Bin-Laden. Not only are their dates of birth almost a decade off, but Bin-Laden did not grow up in Lebanon, let alone go to high school there. It appears that this was inspired by this video: http://digg.com/videos/comedy/Dom_Joly_and_Osama_Bin_Laden_on_Would_I_Lie_to_You in which Joly attempts to [falsely] persuade a panel that he attended high school with Bin-Laden.

Removed line of text. What is a username? 21:48, 8 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

Actually, that clip from digg.com is merely a promo for the show Would I Lie To You, and does not reveal whether it is true or not, however, this video: http://youtube.com/watch?v=ylYQjzYocVs reveals it is actually true Tommeehan 15:47, 18 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

Not only is it true, but It has been common knowledge for some time. His appearence on 'would i lie to you' was not the first time that this infi was revealed. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 172.200.34.38 (talk) 03:36, 9 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

This lie causes a lot of offence amongst people connected with the school. For example:

"HI, Do you know how one can get false information off Dom Joly's entry in Wikapedia? I would like to tell the editors that when Joly briefly attended Brummana High school aged 6, and subsequently during the civil war, was sent to prep school to the Dragon School in Oxford, and then public school in the UK, Ossama Bin Laden (born in 1957) was not in Brummana (nor is he recorded as ever visiting Lebanon) but was attending Al Thager Model School in Jedda. Look at Wikapedia entries on Bin Laden. The retired registrar of Brummana High school and other staff deny Ossama's presence as a student, but agree that there were (two?) of his siblings there at one time. He had over 50 brothers and sisters. Wikapedia also states that Ossama married when he was 17, although the 6 year old Dom says they were both in Brummana when he was 18. D'you think you can get the entry changed?" Padres Hana (talk) 20:13, 15 September 2010 (UTC)Reply

didn't it turn out to be true on the show? that what he says at the end, but on this article it says that it was a joke, why? Jimjom

It was not a joke. He never met Bin Laden, but, indeed, they attended the same school at the same time. Bin Laden was 18, ready to finish, Joly was six, entering, according to Joly's story, told in an eyebrow magazine interview. I've fleshed out the report, and sourced it. --Abd (talk) 22:16, 11 November 2008 (UTC)Reply
The page on the school says it is a lie. The have a reference [1] Kiwiteen123 Please reply on my talk page 04:36, 14 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

Teddy-bear party? edit

This article says that the TBP came fourth, beating the UKIP. Yet the main article link's results table shows it coming fifth, trounced by the aforementioned nationalists.

Where has the "Notable quotes" section gone? edit

That was a really good section

Same for the last few sections e.g. Personal Life? They're there if you edit the page, but don't show up? Wiki moderators please? --leopheard (talk) 13:44, 20 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

Surname? edit

His surname switches back and forth between Joly and Jolly throughout the article (so much so that it initially struck me as somebody's attempt at a subtle joke). Fivepast (talk) 21:46, 13 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

Paul Zenon edit

Has Paul Zenon been editing this page? There are loads of useless sentences plugging Paul Zenon and trying to descredit Dom Joly...Darrek Attilla (talk) 11:46, 7 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

DOB? edit

At the top of the article, it states "Dominic John Joly (born 15 November 1967)", but under the image area on the right, it states "November 15, 1968 (1968-11-15) (age 39)" —Preceding unsigned comment added by 80.254.74.146 (talk) 09:14, 27 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Cooper Brown edit

I added weasel to the report that Dom Joly is Cooper Brown. We have no adequately reliable source for that. See an investigation into this, showing what the sources actually say, at Cooper Brown Talk. Attribution of the claim would be better than what I did, but only so many trivialities I can manage today.--Abd (talk) 17:52, 10 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

Early career edit

"Runner at London". Anyone know what on earth that is supposed to mean? Xyster (talk) 20:44, 9 June 2009 (UTC)Reply

'Early career Following university his work included: A runner at London'
A runner in what, the London Marathon? A 'runner' for a newspaper or TV production company? Does anyone know what this refers to? Kayakboy (talk) 19:53, 6 January 2010 (UTC)Reply

Left-handedness edit

"Noticeably left-handed"? Isn't one's "handedness" always noticeable? The adverb creates the implication that Joly has been trying to get away with not being identified as a left-hander. Which I doubt. Macphysto (talk) 15:18, 27 December 2009 (UTC)Reply
