I am not sure it is fair to say that "At the 2010 general election, Walsall North was one of the most closely contested seats at the election". Firstly closely contested would imply that there was a big effort put in by two or more parties to win the seat. This may be the case, but the cited source only gives the figures for the vote, and the seat was not seen as one which would determine the outcome of the election, not least as the swing required for it to change hands meant it was low on the Conservative target list at about traget 195 - considerably more seats than the Conservatives required to win the election on an even national swing (though in the end higher swing to the Conservatives than the national average). Secondly if it is being implied it was a particularly close result it should be noted that the 990 majority was higher than several other seats including Telford, Great Grimsby, Norwich South, Dudley North, Thurrock - majority 92 - and North Warwickshire - majority 52.
