Unnecessary qualification?
editLooking at this article I have to question the following section:
"Johnson, who is openly gay, lives in Brockley, Lewisham, with his long-term partner and former borough councillor, Dean Walton."
Does it really need to say 'openly gay' when his sexuality is perfectly clear from the context of the rest of the entry. I haven't ever seen an article that states someone is 'openly heterosexual'...

Cousin of Boris Johnson?
editBoris Johnson just said on Twitter that they are "distant cousins". Mr Johnson (the mayor) is often economical with the truth, and is responding to a joke, but it's possible (compare Bernie Sanders and Larry Sanders or John Kerry and Brice Lalonde, all senior Green politicians with better-known relatives). I've put it into the article, partly in the hope that other editors will check the reference and provide a second opinion on whether the Mayor is speaking seriously or humorously. WP:SELFSOURCE applies, so it could be an RS. Matt's talk 15:26, 28 January 2016 (UTC)
- NO. Do not put material into BLPs that you are unsure of the truth of. As you can see, I found out by asking Darren Johnson directly in this case. — Scott • talk 16:12, 28 January 2016 (UTC)
- Thank you for clearing that up. "Gullible" is perhaps a bit OTT, given the caveats, but it's another reminder that subtlety isn't Twitter's strong point! Matt's talk 17:56, 28 January 2016 (UTC)
