Marketing speech detected? edit

"unlike any previous game, it will include approximately three hours of live-action footage with a cast of all real actors"

This reads like marketing speech to me, so I'm gutting it for the moment. There were games with loads of live-action footage in the mid-90's, so I'm not even sure if there's a valid point being made here. I guess maybe it's the only one with approximately three hours as opposed to approximately two or four? Respond with any objections, I guess. G-Flex (talk) 02:12, 30 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

Looking at the Metacritic pages, this game has been roundly slated by most critics, yet there are several suspiciously positive user reviews there too. http://www.metacritic.com/game/pc/darkstar-the-interactive-movie/critic-reviews Having played it myself, I'd say it's one of the worst games I've ever played and a throwback to a dark era of gaming. This whole page feels like it comes from the marketing department - especially the 'reception' bit at the bottom, that seems to have had the bad reviews excised. I mean, this is a 36% average game... --Grill (talk) 19:41, 6 May 2012 (UTC)Reply

Returning to this page after a gap of four years, I find the same user who inserted the marketing speech four years ago has inserted a large portion of unrepresentatively positive comments, ahead of the section on 'negative reception'. I'm deleting that section, as it effectively misleads readers about how terrible this game is. Grill (talk) 21:04, 4 December 2016 (UTC)Reply

Proposed article rename edit

I propose renaming this article, from "DARKSTAR – The Interactive Movie" to "Darkstar: The Interactive Movie". Per Wikipedia:Manual of Style (trademarks)#General rules, "Follow standard English text formatting and capitalization rules, even if the trademark owner considers nonstandard formatting "official"". This is also mentioned at Wikipedia:Manual of Style (capital letters)#All caps. On top of that, it's not even clear if the trademarked name of the game is in all capitals anyway. Also, the standard is to separate a title like "Darkstar" and a subtitle like "The Interactive Movie" with a colon, not a dash. If you follow the link to the game's listing on IMDb, here, you'll see that it's listed that way there. Mudwater (Talk) 02:12, 27 September 2010 (UTC)Reply

Agree on all counts. I've been meaning to do it myself and never got around to it. - X201 (talk) 08:14, 27 September 2010 (UTC)Reply
It's been a week and no one has objected to the new name. I think this one is pretty straightforward. So, I'm going to go ahead and rename the article now. Mudwater (Talk) 00:20, 4 October 2010 (UTC)Reply

Promotional flyer outdated edit

The promotional poster for this game is outdated as it still includes the Rush logo. For those of you who don't know, the band Rush was at one point attached to the project, but negotiations for the music rights fell through. The image needs to be replaced, but a more experienced Wiki user probably needs to do this. Anyone up for it? - jg2904 (Talk) 21:49, 24 January 2011 (UTC)Reply
