Older Cyan games
editI guess this must be why I haven't found any of Cyan's old games like Spelunx, Cosmo Osmo, and such. I guess their issue with the company seeming to go under, must be why they were acting so stingy towards me in asking..why they claimed they'd re-release their older games, yet they haven't. As well as insisting that The Underdogs website take their downloads of the games off, because they promised a re-release. I mean, I hate to be like cranky. I've tried every reasonable outlet though, and have gotten no answers. Please explain what is up with this, if you know.
- There are some games missing from the page, and I think, but I'm not certain, that some of the dates are incorrect. Somebody should probably check me on these dates, but if you do... look for the releases on mac platform, not PC; we initially released on Mac.
In 1987, we self published two versions of The Manhole: a one (floppy) disk and a five disk. The same year, we re-released The Manhole, again on floppy, with Activision as the publisher. In 1988, we yet again released The Manhole, but now converted to CDROM, and with the addition of a soundtrack. That same year (1988) we also released a floppy disk version of Cosmic Osmo. Following Osmo's success, in 1989, we released Cosmic Osmo and the World's Beyond the Mackerel, a greatly expanded version of the original for CDROM: our first true CDROM game. In 1991 we released Spelunx and the Caves of Mr. Seudo. In 1992, we released the color edition of Spelunx. In 1993, we released Myst. In 1997, ten years after we released our first product, we released Riven.--tinselman (talk) 01:46, 11 February 2009 (UTC)

List of cyan employees?
editMaybe it would be a good idea to have a list of people related to Cyan how have an article of their own on wikipedia? There are at least a handful. 84.217.129.165 11:28, 21 July 2007 (UTC)
- Is Martin O'Donnell noteworthy? I know he has his own Wikipedia article, but he's apparently just a sound designer (not even the lead sound designer) for Riven. This doesn't seem worth mentioning on the Cyan Worlds article, given the huge number of employees who have worked on the games over the years. EatMyShortz (talk) 11:13, 12 April 2010 (UTC)
Spelunx release date
editThis page currently says 1992, while Home of the Underdogs says 1991. I'm not sure which is right. (The Macintosh Garden says 1993, but I assume that's referring to the 1993 colorized release mentioned here.) --DocumentN (talk) 23:26, 8 May 2008 (UTC)
Insertion of firing text
edit71.37.132.16 (talk · contribs) has been inserting text (see here) saying that the development staff has been laid off. This addition is being sourced by http://www.spokesmanreview.com/business/story.asp?ID=230680&cookie=allowed, an article that is locked behind their website and only viewable if you have an account. The problem here is that in order to sign up for an account, you need to pay $7/mo. Since this article is basically unverifiable, it can't be used.I also can't find any other articles to back up this alleged firing, so until we can find some verifiable information from reliable sources, this text can't be added. Two users, myself and Islander, have been reverting this addition, and since we're both on the same page on this issue, I think a slight WP:CONSENSUS has been formed. — HelloAnnyong (say whaaat?!) 23:20, 3 June 2008 (UTC)
- There was, in fact, a layoff - see here. I'm not sure how many people they have left (7 in the QA group + an unknown number of folks in other departments), but there's a source for ya. 69.0.37.55 (talk) 01:25, 21 June 2009 (UTC)
Game Testing
editCyan Worlds does a lot of game testing, seems like relevant information but I'll let someone who knows what they are doing add it. --67.185.245.221 (talk) 03:36, 14 October 2008 (UTC)
- Do they? I haven't seen that... got any sources? — HelloAnnyong (say whaaat?!) 03:42, 14 October 2008 (UTC)
- Well, the website might be a good place to start... TalkIslander 08:13, 14 October 2008 (UTC)
- So we've got a primary source. No gnews hits and only 60 ghits, which are largely forums and blogs... how much can we really add aside from "Cyan also has a full testing facility" or something like that? — HelloAnnyong (say whaaat?!) 13:03, 14 October 2008 (UTC)
- I've done projects there, had a friend work full-time as a tester. I know those aren't credible Wiki sources- but from my observations and his comments, testing was one of the main things (if not THE main thing) Cyan was involved in.--67.185.245.221 (talk) 03:35, 15 October 2008 (UTC)

Requested move 5 August 2019
edit- The following is a closed discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review after discussing it on the closer's talk page. No further edits should be made to this discussion.
The result of the move request was: NOT MOVED. Closed by nominator. WanderingWanda (talk) 00:21, 13 August 2019 (UTC)
– Cyan, the game company, has dropped the "Worlds" from their name. See: their current website, and compare with an archived version from 2005.
As for the telecommunications company named Cyan: its clearly not the primary topic for "Cyan, Inc." Its article is a stub with a single reference and a dead website. Actually, that company doesn't even really exist anymore: it was absorbed by a company called Ciena. (See: this article). The telecommunications article should probably be deleted per WP:N, or maybe merged with Ciena, but I figure that can happen after this RM. WanderingWanda (talk) 08:22, 5 August 2019 (UTC)
- Upon further research, I would like to strike the suggestion to move Cyan Worlds. I did some searches on Google News:
- "Cyan, inc." "Firmament" "Zed": 8 results
- "Cyan Worlds" "Firmament" "Zed": 20 results
- Therefore, "Cyan Worlds" seems like it's still the WP:COMMONNAME. Also the name "Cyan Worlds" still seems like it's in use by Cyan here and there, including at the bottom of Cyan.com: "© 2016 Cyan Inc. / Cyan Worlds Inc."
- I do, however, still think the telecommunications article needs to be moved. Here's my action plan for it:
- Move the article at Cyan, Inc. to Cyan, Inc. (telecommunications company)
- Merge Cyan, Inc. (telecommunications company) with Ciena
- Make Cyan, Inc. redirect to Cyan Worlds
- Add a hatnote to Cyan Worlds saying something like "For the former telecommunications company named Cyan, inc., see Ciena"
- WanderingWanda (talk) 22:35, 12 August 2019 (UTC)
Uh... upon even further consideration, I guess there's no real reason to move the Cyan, Inc. page to another page before merging. Closing this move request! WanderingWanda (talk) 00:21, 13 August 2019 (UTC)
- The above discussion is preserved as an archive of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on this talk page or in a move review. No further edits should be made to this section.
