Note that these websites list the venues - but they are definitely not reliable sources - and are attempting to presale tickets through a registration - so I left the information out of the article. English |Español. Also according to this article the President of the Panamanian football association said it is still on and that the details will be released following the July 25th meeting of the CONCACAF executive board, but that date has passed without an announcement. --Trödel 11:50, 18 August 2015 (UTC)Reply

Venue name edit

Will an administrator (or anyone who can edit this semi-protected page) please change the name of the Nashville, Tennessee venue to the current "Nissan Stadium"? Thanks. 2600:1004:B12B:D673:A119:9BD7:1B25:8D41 (talk) 02:40, 15 July 2015 (UTC).Reply

New York Times article edit

The was something in the New York Times about the US not hosting the tournament. I didn't get a chance to read it, so I'm not sure of the details or if it's worth adding to the article. Letting others know, if anyone has time to look for it. Equineducklings (talk) 15:07, 17 September 2015 (UTC)Reply

Points to FIFA rank edit

Does anyone knows how the Copa matches be treated for ranking purposes? It'd be unfair to assign continental finals points to ranking. It will be assigned as friendlies? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 187.54.185.222 (talk) 18:25, 10 March 2016 (UTC)Reply

Match officials edit

Are there any sources for the selection of match officials and the appointments on MD1? At least Marco Rodriguez seems to be a wrong name, as he retired in 2014. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 78.51.199.72 (talk) 07:19, 16 April 2016 (UTC)Reply

The tournament is only broadcast in Russia by Match TV, not by Channel One or VGTRK. Source (Russian): «Матч ТВ» покажет матчи Кубка Америки (Match TV Starts Coverage of Copa América). Thus, I request changing a line in "Broadcasting rights" — "Rest of the World" section from:

add assist and man of the match ranking? edit

add assist and man of the match ranking? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 61.15.8.33 (talk) 03:18, 13 June 2016 (UTC)Reply

It is hard enough as it is to track goals and appearances for football around the world. There just isn't enough for the assist category in general. Perhaps an inclusion for man of the match may be ok though. Savvyjack23 (talk) 20:49, 22 June 2016 (UTC)Reply

Impact on air quality edit

I added information relating to air quality and the cup. Another IP removed it without reason.[1]. Since this is relevant and there was no rationale for the removal I urge anybody who owns an account to add this back since the article is currently protected. 200.2.119.117 (talk) 18:26, 22 June 2016 (UTC)Reply

English translation edit

It's nice to cite a source for "Centennial Copa America" as the English translation but it is not. Copa is not an English word and in other articles relating to football, it is translated to "cup." Savvyjack23 (talk)

Although it uses both, Fox Sports (Licensed broadcaster) quotes CONCACAF President Jeffrey Webb referring to it as "Centennial Cup America."

The New York Times (in-article)

Business Wire

Kansas City Star

Sun Sentinel

Empire of Soccer

Jamaica Observer

Grenada Sports

WorldNews (WN) Network

As per CONCACAF (included in article) and in addition to the Copa America 2016 Local Organizing Committee.

Even the MLS article used prior quotes "Centennial Cup America" by Jeffrey Webb. MLS Soccer Savvyjack23 (talk) 19:35, 22 June 2016 (UTC)Reply

Tournament ranking edit

I added this link as source for the tournament ranking: http://www.concacaf.com/es/category/copa_america_centenario/stats (go to Equipos > Partidos (English: Teams > Matches) to see matches won/drawn/lost, or Equipos > Goles (English: Teams > Goals) to see goals for), but my edit was reverted. Why? Spindl3r (talk) 03:54, 27 June 2016 (UTC)Reply

By what means should this link be a source for that tournament ranking???--Je suis blocked by Darkwind 09:21, 27 June 2016 (UTC)
In this link Argentina is first, so this link should be a source for the tournament ranking???--Je suis blocked by Darkwind 07:59, 28 June 2016 (UTC)
If this list were a source for a tournament ranking, then Argentina had to be first in the tournament ranking, unless you are completely inconsequent. Argentina and Chile already show that this list is not a tournament ranking.--Je suis blocked by Darkwind 08:50, 29 June 2016 (UTC)

Suppressing the group stage info edit

On pages for past Copa Americas (and other continental tournaments), the group stage information is suppressed to only contain the dates, results, and venues, leaving the details to the respective pages for each group. Now Copa America Centenario is already finished, we should do the same to the group stage. But I do not know how to edit it; someone else might help. Sofeshue (talk) 01:48, 3 July 2016 (UTC)Reply

Done I was just about to ask that question today, but since others like you also are wanting to simplify the group stage information I've done it. RugbyLeagueFan (talk) 04:50, 6 July 2016 (UTC)Reply

Counts as Copa América title? / edit war edit

Anaxagoras13, the title damn sure counts towards Chile's number of titles. What it does not count towards would have been qualifying for the Conferations Cup, which Chile already had won in last year's Copa América. Repeatedly, the rhetoric has mentioned that "this is the first time members outside of CONCEBOL could qualify;" "first time competition is hosted outside of South America," Messi looking for his first Copa América win," etc. So please; it's Chile's second title. Savvyjack23 (talk) 16:58, 4 July 2016 (UTC)Reply

Anaxagoras13, even if it didn't count towards a title, what sense are you making by removing tournament results? So if I wanted to glance at who came in last, how would I know? Continue to edit war and you may be blocked. Savvyjack23 (talk) 17:49, 4 July 2016 (UTC)Reply
Where did I remove tournament results???--Je suis blocked by Darkwind 17:53, 4 July 2016 (UTC)
That are the regulations for the tournament, search for yourself whether any rules for ranking teams are given there. And search the CONCACAF or CONMEBOL homepages if there is a final ranking given. If not, it is an invention by WP users and IPs, or short Original research which is not allowed in WP.--Je suis blocked by Darkwind 18:08, 4 July 2016 (UTC)
You removed it here [2] Savvyjack23 (talk) 18:37, 4 July 2016 (UTC)Reply
That link shows me nothing, points are always tallied up (speaking to your tournament ranking removal). Also see RSSSF which also concurs of Chile's 2 titles. Savvyjack23 (talk) 19:17, 4 July 2016 (UTC)Reply
You cannot read a simple link??? www.rsssf.com is an official site of the CONMEBOL? Oh, that's new to me.--2003:5F:3E61:8D6A:F117:AA46:CC67:62A1 (talk) 10:03, 5 July 2016 (UTC)Reply
RSSSF is a reliable source. I do not know where we would be without it and their research. There isn't strong evidence to support that this isn't a second official title for Chile. Simple as that. The evidence provided says absolutely nothing of the sort. Savvyjack23 (talk) 13:51, 5 July 2016 (UTC)Reply
RSSSF is of course NOT a reliable source. It is not a site of an official football federation.--2003:5F:3E0B:EF5B:649C:518C:1EF5:D394 (talk) 17:27, 6 July 2016 (UTC)Reply
A source does not have to be official to be reliable. Anyway, in addition Reuters and the Bundesliga, both relibale sources, both describe Chile 'retaining' the title; other organisaitons such as The Guardian say it's their second. It's their second.
