Chaim Sheba (1908–1971) Israeli physician, most notable for overseeing Ringworm Incorporated in the 1950s and the radiological experimentation in which 100,000 Moroccan Sephardi children were exposed to 35,000 times the maximum x-ray dose. Chaim Sheba was given 7 x-ray machines by the U.S. military and 300 million Israeli liras a year (equivilent to several billion dollars) by the American government to fund the research. The parents of the children were often told they were on a school trip while they were experimented on or told the children were being treated for ring worm. 6000 children died initially and most died or are dying of cancer and other illnesses caused by the experiments. The radiation was intense enough to alter the DNA of the children, causing genetic defects in future generations. The incident has been called the "Shephardi Holocaust" by some. In 2004 an Israeli news channel filmed a documentary called "The Ringworm Children", directed by David Belhassen and Asher Hemias, exposing the experiments. With this in mind, I've rewritten the section about the "ringworm children" to state clearly what is definitely known, and what is claimed to have happened but has not been proven, replacing the previous text which stated this as a proven fact (which appears to be incorrect). Certainly any history which tends to portray Israel in a poor light will be championed by "conspiracy theorist[s]" as proof of their claims, regardless of the merit. This, in itself, cannot be the only reason to dismiss the article as without merit or factual basis.

There is evidence to support at least some of what the documentary alleges. The official explanation that records were destroyed in a fire does not shine any light on the matter. That there was radiation applied to children in Israel and Morocco to treat Ringworm at the time alleged in the documentary is well established in the current literature, however. It is also illustrative to refer to the (numerous) references cited in that study for other instances of irradiation in children, and to compare that with the allegations that doctors at the time knew, or should have known, about the effects. Also, there is a law in Israel that compensates these children if they developed cancer later in life (passed 1994). I don't have a citation but someone with access to the legal code of Israel could provide more there, and it may be illustrative to check the parliamentary records of debate to see why such a law was passed in the first place. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.71.150.106 (talk) 22:54, 30 December 2007 (UTC)

Reverting a revision that had rewritten article

For the second time, I have reverted revisions made by 192.115.66.26, who had replaced the exiting text of this article with a completely rewritten text that contained no sources nor links and that had been written in a style inconsistent with Wikipedia guideline. The text in question appears to have been lifted from some undisclosed exiting article on Sheba and could also be in breach of copyright. I would request the user in question to refrian from making further edits to this article without citing suitable sorces and that such edits should be based upon amendments to the currect text and not a replacement of the same.
