Temporary station for the Investiture edit
I notice in an archived BBC report about the preparations for the 1969 Investiture that there was a temporary railway station at the Ferodo factory used for transferring the Royal party to the coaches and assembling the procession. - You can quite clearly see the "FERODO" sign on the side of the building in the film on the BBC News website at the moment. Also they seem to be using a car park area, there is not that much space at Griffith's Crossing.
- Not sure if the RAF fuel store at Griffith's Crossing used the railway but it seems very likely. There is a pipe from the harbour in Caernarfon and apart from the fuel tanks there was a place assembling fuel cans employing several hundred people so presumably they might have been shipped out by rail. --jmb (talk) 23:26, 2 July 2009 (UTC)
- I can confirm that the Royal Party detrained at Griffiths Crossing. Caernarvon Station was quite handsome, and I seem to remember that security concerns were given as the reason for using Griffiths Crossing. Everybody got to be somewhere! (talk) 22:35, 13 April 2011 (UTC)
