Good article nomination edit

Detractions from GA status edit

  • It doesn't have an image, and its an article about a person.
  • The prose seems rather bland.

Its got a good start, but it is probably not GA-quality.. yet. Kevin_b_er 23:31, 23 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

Articles doesn't need an image for GA thanks Jaranda wat's sup 23:38, 23 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

I'm saying it rather ought to considering its about a person who's alive, right now, though I understand its not required for GA. I'm more worried about the bland-like text within it, however. Just doesn't seem to jump out at all. All the references are from today. It just seems like it needs more of something. Kevin_b_er 23:48, 23 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

GA assessment edit

Well-written - Yes, but it is quite brief, which makes it hard for it to be compelling. Logical structure, yes, as far as it goes, but brief again. Technical terms - I'm in a good position to judge this one, I know nothing about American Football - what's an 'All-Iowa'? What's the significance of being a 'free agent'? What's training camp (I can probably guess that one, but I could be wrong!)? Injury waiver? It's hard for me to be interested in this guy because I can't really understand what's happening.

Accurate and verifiable - good, but I can't see a ref for the most field goals record.

Broad coverage - I suppose there's not much more. Perhaps 'Personal Life'?

NPOV - yes, very good.

Stable - yes

Images - No. They're not compulsory, but requirement is worded 'where possible'. Surely it's not impossible here?

In summary then, I'd say it needed a picture, or some more convincing evidence that it's not possible, and a little (very brief) expansion or linking to cover the specialist terms that ignoramuses like me don't know, which seem to be relevant to why his career is taking the turn that it is. I'll mark as 'on hold' for now, pending these changes which should be quite straightforward. It would probably benefit from a bit more content, but that's not a criteria as far as I can see. 4u1e 18:56, 2 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

I would try to expand it later on, but currently I'm having arm problems and I'm very limited in typing. As for images, all are copyrighted and no free are abvalable. Thanks Jaranda wat's sup 19:12, 2 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

I was sorry to read about that. Hope the physiotherapy helps. 4u1e 21:10, 2 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

Proposing a specific change edit

Should the following be changed since the section is titled "Baltimore Ravens" and not "New England Patriots"?. My reasoning is that yes, it did seal the Patriots Superbowl appearance, however his kick did not "win" the game for New England, It "lost" a opportunity to tie the game for Baltimore (who the article section is about). Its subtle but makes sense. In addition, the Patriots are referenced twice so seems redundant to mention "sealed a berth for New England". Its more logical that it "ended the Ravens run" since the section is about the Ravens. I also rearranged things so the english reads smoother than the hastily added original and better describes that facts.

Current... In the closing seconds of the 2011 AFC Championship Game on January 22, 2012, Cundiff missed a 32-yard field goal wide left against the New England Patriots, which sealed a Super Bowl XLVI berth for New England.

Suggested changes.. In the closing seconds of the 2011 AFC Championship Game on January 22, 2012 against the New England Patriots, Cundiff missed a potential game tying 32-yard field goal wide left, ending the Ravens Super Bowl XLVI run and 2011 season. Early years section edit

I just heard Billy Cundiff in a radio interview, and he said that in high school he was a three-time All-State (Iowa) kicker, and an All-State quarterback in his senior year only.

Just wanted to note this...I realize a citable published source is needed to make corrections. (Or, at least, I think so...would paraphrasing a radio interview I happened to hear be considered original research? Related question - what if if the radio station posts an .mp3 file of the interview on their website?) — Preceding unsigned comment added by 99.103.13.193 (talk) 17:23, 7 March 2014 (UTC)Reply
