Surely this brings up NPOV problems? Wikipedia should not be publishing a private institution's own propaganda as though it were an objective report.

This is particularly salient when the "private institution" involved is a Mississippi educational institution. Such institutions have been steeped in in violence, dishonesty, and the legitimization of racism back to the first non-native settlements three hundred years ago.

Satellite campus info and Hill alumni edit

To broaden the scope beyond Mississippi, I have added the info about the satellite campuses including the new online programs.

I have re-added the Paul Jennings Hill alumni info as well as a link/source to a newspaper article that mentions this fact. http://www.fadp.org/news/PensacolaNewsJournal-20030824.htm

As fortunate or unfortunate as one may view his attending this school, the fact is he is a notable alumni with even his own Wikipedia entry.

I am simply contributing/expanding this entry by adding factual information without bias. Tournstone 19:11, 2 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Full-protected 3 days edit

I have full-protected this article for 3 days due to an edit war over the (non)inclusion of Paul Jennings Hill in the list of notable people. Users are now required to discuss any changes here. Also, please note that any further edit warring following this protection may lead to one's editing privileges to be restricted. Regards, –MuZemike 03:10, 27 December 2010 (UTC)Reply

Not Including Paul Jennings Hill as a Notable Alumni edit

The user Joyhill keeps on adding this person back to the Notable Alumni list, however:

1. There is no proof in terms of supporting articles that actually show that he actually attended Belhaven and this has been contested and even denied on and around campus. 2. The user's name is listed as JoyHill, and is likely Joy Hill, the daughter of Paul Jennings Hill and therefore is likely completely biased when it comes to adding or editing information about her father. Likewise, examining the changes she's made to this article and the main article on Paul Jennings Hill, she seems to be more interested in creating publicity for her father rather than adding meaningful content. 3. Few other university pages list criminals who may or may not have attended their schools in their notable alumni section. This section almost exclusively is reserved for alumni with significant achievements, not significant crimes. Murder almost certainly is not an achievement.

Thus, I move for Paul Jennings Hill NOT to be included in the notable alumni section. Your questions and comments are welcome. Nekrus (talk) 22:26, 28 December 2010 (UTC)Reply

There is plenty of proof including multiple newspaper articles which are easy to locate even here within Wikipedia that Paul Jennings Hill attended Belhaven and graduated (went on to RTS). Here is one such article: http://www.fadp.org/news/PensacolaNewsJournal-20030824.htm It is part of historical record that he and his wife met while at Belhaven. Local coverage in Jackson has also documented it and it would also be easy enough to check with the registrar. I will be happy to pull these resources if needed. Wikipedia is NOT a marketing document for exploitation by Belhaven. This is historical record which reflects the truth that we all contribute to. Paul Jennings Hill is part of history and it is notable that he attended Belhaven, distasteful or not. I am alumni and as much as I do not like having my alma-mater associated with this person, I feel the truth is far more important than censorship. Paul Jennings Hill is part of history and part of Belhaven's history and therefore must be included in Wikipedia's entry.

Rewrite edit

I'm gonna be bold and daring and rewrite this one. We know that a COI editor claimed to have rights to confer priveleges for copyrighted material. That raises all sorts of problems. By the time I get done, there won't be any left. My first priority is to describe what the school is, rather than all the history. Read it, digest it, and if you really don't like it, revert it.
