Nutrition

edit

Does anyone have nutrition info on these puffs? Lots of articles say they're either 230 or 250 kcals, but nobody has any more breakdown than that. --24.126.254.91 21:34, 22 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

The manufacturer page has them at [1] Jutta 03:56, 23 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

founding date conflict?

edit

I'm standing in front of a sign at a location thatt says "Since 1952 beard papa has been making..." Might 1999 be the founding date (or reformation) into a larger business entity? --A Good Anon (talk) 22:05, 16 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

I agree. From what I read on their corporate website, Beard Papa started out as a small one-man shop then much later became to conglomerate. What's the Wiki rule about foundation dates? E.g., was McDonald's founded by the first restaurant by the McDonald brothers or when Ray Kroc turned it into a multi-store franchise? TNaran (talk) 06:58, 9 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

Stub?

edit

I'm fairly sure that by this point this articles qualifies at least as a start class article, anyone disagree? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Kurowoofwoof111 (talkcontribs) 00:14, 17 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

Location

edit

Information on the locations is valued to this article, and the argument that the information is covered in the reference is incorrect for the following reasons.

As you can see from my above points Wikipedia acknowledges restaurant locations as legitimate information, that can be part of an article or an article itself. that should be included in articles, not just as references. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Kurowoofwoof111 (talkcontribs) 01:12, 25 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

Hi. I was the person who removed the list of store locations. Unfortunately, Wikipedia:Other stuff exists is not really a valid argument for including a list of locations here. But if you or other editors think it is a useful or essential addition to the article, be sure to start with the Japanese locations since it is a Japanese company, and include all worldwide stores, rather than just focusing on North America. --DAJF (talk) 01:32, 25 March 2008 (UTC)Reply
I disagree with your assertion that a list of locations would lack legitimacy absent inclusion of locations in Japan. This article is published for English Wikipedia, not Japanese Wikipedia. Detailed addresses and locations in Japan are numerous and not notable to a user of English wikipedia. While Beard Papa originated in Japan (as clearly stated in the article), its popularity is tremendous in California and Hawaii. A list of locations in English-speaking locales is appropriate for this English version. While I agree that the mere existence of other lists of restaurant locations does not by itself establish notability, the inclusion of such lists without objection in other articles is a persuasive data point in terms of wikipedia norms and consensus. Absent some authority or guideline prohibiting such lists, your continued deletion of this useful information could be construed as vandalism. See also the text of Wikipedia:Other stuff exists: "Sometimes these comparisons are invalid, and sometimes they are valid. The invalid comparisons are generally so painfully invalid that there has been a backlash against the "other stuff exists" type of rationales. When used correctly though, these comparisons are important as the encyclopedia should be consistent in the content that it provides or excludes. The problem arises when legitimate comparisons are disregarded without thought because "other stuff existing is not a reason to keep/create/etc." —Preceding unsigned comment added by Kurowoofwoof111 (talkcontribs) 01:57, 25 March 2008 (UTC)Reply
I don't think a list of locations would lack legitimacy without including details of Japanese and other locations, but it would of course be incomplete and not represent a global perspective. I am curious about your statement that "Detailed addresses and locations in Japan are numerous and not notable to a user of English wikipedia." What is this based on? Also, you might want to reread Wikipedia:Vandalism if you think that disagreeing with another editor's edit constitutes vandalism. --DAJF (talk) 02:06, 25 March 2008 (UTC)Reply
I think we are in agreement that locations are legitimate content. I will add the list of locations from the web site of non-Japan locations. If you or someone else wishes to add Japanese locations, that also would be fine. But there's no reason not to start the process. As for the issue of vandalism, it is my understanding that repeated removal of legitimate content can constitute vandalism. But in any event it sounds like we are now in agreement that the content should stay.Kuro Woof 16:50, 25 March 2008 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Kurowoofwoof111 (talkcontribs)
Could a case be made for moving it to a new page? If there are really 550 locations, then it seems to me that to place all of them on the main article would be clutter. Also, it seems superfluous to have the external link if the list is going to be there. Perhaps just a reference?matrygg (talk) 08:58, 03 April 2008 (UTC)Reply
