Screenshots
editI've uploaded some high res screenshots from the TGS trailer if anyone wants to use them. [1]. --Roto13 (talk) 05:52, 30 November 2008 (UTC)
- So far there is only the title display, I think it would be great to include some images at least of Bayonetta herself. Preferably her face, all I have seen so far is this. Tyciol (talk) 20:36, 13 June 2009 (UTC)
Is that a screenshot of the game? It's hard to tell; it's so tiny.
Release date
editI'm changing the release date to Q4 2009, since the gamestop pre-order is known to be alway incorrect, they just slap a date on there so they can take pre-orders. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Infinity void (talk • contribs) 14:44, 14 July 2009 (UTC)
Gamespot says its coming out in "January 2010" Sir Fritz (talk) 09:53, 4 August 2009 (UTC)
Gameinformer says January 2010 also. Neoshadow1billion —Preceding undated comment added 01:08, 2 September 2009 (UTC).
The demo at Penny Arcade Expo (I believe it's called Bayonetta "Foreplay", which may be the title of the demo or of the first mission) was advertized January 2010 release. 70.102.136.132 (talk) 19:47, 7 September 2009 (UTC) But in Germany it already released on December 17th 2009. But it also said, that it comes on January 8th, 2010. I actually bought it on 23th of december 2009. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Hermaphrodito (talk • contribs) 01:39, 9 January 2010 (UTC)
Fun with traffic stats
editA few spikes and firsts from the traffic stats of Bayonetta:
- May 2008
- The article was started in the 14th but spiked the days after. Little happened during the spike though.
- August 2008
- A slower rise until the 23rd, when something of a plot was added and the views died down a bit.
- October 2008
- Surge in views on October 9–10. The big GameShark quote was shortened during that time.
- November 2008
- Small surge on the 7th. No edits until the 10th though.
- April 2009
- First 2,000-view day (though October came close).
- May 2009
- Gradual rise to another 2k day. Official website was added.
- August 2009
- During a slight surge, "Easy Automatic" mode info was added.
- September 2009
- Sudden 3k day; gradual diedown.
- October 2009
- First 4k day, then a 5k day as news of the perfect Famitsu score surfaced.
2009-10-27 Assessment
editDefinitely B-class, but it needs at least one screenshot of gameplay to remain so. --Teancum (talk) 15:28, 27 October 2009 (UTC)
- Added one from GameSpot. --an odd name 19:41, 27 October 2009 (UTC)
Special Edition
editAustralia is getting a special edition called the Climax Edition http://kotaku.com/5401795/finally-australia-gets-something-right Should, of course, be mentioned in the article. I don't know if other countries are going to get some special edition though. Vylen (talk) 08:52, 9 December 2009 (UTC)
Character depth
editI thought it would just be a nice idea to go into further depth about the charactors. Tell a bit a bout their personalities and what not.. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Akumi Katsuya (talk • contribs) 01:02, 19 January 2010 (UTC)
That design sketch picture
edit...Is incredibly useless and adds nothing at all. The resolution is so small it offers little but eyestrain to the reader. Someone upload a slightly bigger version. - 68.184.47.133 (talk) 07:30, 16 December 2009 (UTC)
- I've upsized the thumbnail, but because all I was focusing on was the long limbs of the pic, the text etc. is unnecessary—the non-free content criteria discourage highly-detailed pics. The best solution, of course, is for Platinum Games to allow free use of the full pic—feel free to ask them about it. --an odd name 23:22, 23 December 2009 (UTC)
Nex Entertainment
editI know its stated that Sega is responsible for the PlayStation 3 port of the game, but Nex Entertainment lists it on their gameography here. Does anyone know what involvement they had? ~ Hibana 21:27, 19 December 2009 (UTC)
- Platinum Games does not mention "Nex" on their blog, and a search of Sega's site returns no results. A few forum posts seem to mention them, but no news stories. Maybe they pulled a TOSE, but I'm skeptical. Lacking an actual story on their involvement, I'm not even sure a listing on e.g. GameSpot would be enough proof. --an odd name 23:37, 23 December 2009 (UTC)
Delete Pre-release-section
editThe section should be deleted as they aren't featured in most other video-game-articles. Nuhr (talk) 22:25, 22 December 2009 (UTC)
- I disagree with that. When I was expanding the article, I had the featured article criteria in mind. An FA "neglects no major facts or details and places the subject in context". By including the pre-release info, the article becomes not only more comprehensive, but more illustrative of the technical and narrative improvement (or lack thereof) during development of the game and its two versions. That is, it becomes easier to see whether, e.g., the PS3 version issues were suddenly perceived by reviewers (they clearly weren't) or manifested consistently as the game inched toward release. I think we should focus on improvement, not simple conformity. --an odd name 21:14, 23 December 2009 (UTC)
Pre-Release-versions are only given to gaming-press for previewing. Oftentimes way before the actual release of the game. They often contain performance and or graphical bugs because the code is not final yet.
The point I'm trying to make is that mentioning opinions on preview-versions is not needed because these were only given out as a tool of insight for gaming-magazines. The version you can buy in your store is a greatly aadvanced one. Of course, the issues with the final PS3-version must be mentioned, but it's of no concern whether or not these were present during previews or not. A lot of games have issues on PS3 and their Wikipedia-articles don't mention their pre-view-versions. They only look at the final version because that's what matters.
So I think it's best to only refer to the version released for sale and eventual patches after the release (like most other games' Wiki-articles do).
Nuhr 89.244.224.46 (talk) 22:36, 25 December 2009 (UTC)
- "A lot of games have issues on PS3 and their Wikipedia-articles don't mention their pre-view-versions. They only look at the final version because that's what matters." Perhaps there is not as much pre-release info for those. I consider that a flaw in those articles (see WP:OTHERSTUFFEXISTS) and their press coverage.
- Otherwise, I've already made my case above, and disrupting the article to make a point won't help yours. Please do not. I hope the multiple warnings you have received from multiple users about this help you reconsider. --an odd name 23:37, 25 December 2009 (UTC)
Bayo OST review
editAn OST review from Chris at Square Enix Music Online. Leaving here because the source was challenged at a recent FAC by myself and others, and just in case it does get in the article and it gets removed or whatever. --an odd name 09:18, 27 December 2009 (UTC)
Reception information in main paragraph
editRemoved reception info from main paragraph as it has an entire section to itself and does not need to be repeated. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 204.209.209.129 (talk) 20:48, 5 January 2010 (UTC)
- Undone: the lead should summarize the article. (This is the second or third time I've undone a reception removal here; if you want the rule changed—and I don't—discuss at the rule's talk page.) --an odd name 01:57, 6 January 2010 (UTC)
Plot
editI suggest the Plot section be removred until it can be replaced with something coherent. 173.56.247.224 (talk) 05:27, 13 January 2010 (UTC)
- I rewrote the latter half of the plot section, it still needs more work though. --Ayken (talk) 02:01, 15 January 2010 (UTC)
- The big problem is that it's looooong. There's a great big cleanup banner in the section that reminds us to take out less important stuff so that it might even be readable. If anyone who has actually played the game (not me, yet) is willing to cull the trivial from the important and make it less point-by-point, it would solve (arguably) the issue of the old peer review and make it easier to copyedit. (I am not the anon above.) --an odd name 03:20, 15 January 2010 (UTC)
- I tried to clean up the plot and remove details where possible, I hope it's at least somewhat readable now. It's going to require people with better writing skills to really solve the issues with it though. --Ayken (talk) 01:29, 18 January 2010 (UTC)

- Well I think I the plot was reduced enough now, does it still need to be tagged as "overly detailed"? --Ayken (talk) 01:22, 20 January 2010 (UTC)
Original Soundtrack
editShould the tracklist really be featured on this article? With its 5 CDs it takes up nearly half of the article, and from what I've seen on other articles it should probably be moved to a separate "Bayonetta Original Soundtrack" page. --Ayken (talk) 21:26, 18 January 2010 (UTC)
- I asked about that a month ago at the WikiProject talk page. PresN basically collapsed the list (which was uncollapsed before) and left any keep or removal of the list to me. That was great, except I was asking them whether to keep or remove, so I'll have to leave the choice to you as well. --an odd name 23:35, 18 January 2010 (UTC)
- I see, I still had Javascript disabled which is why it wasn't uncollapsed for me. I'd like to move it to a separate page, and looking at the Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater Original Soundtrack for example, it really doesn't have much content worth noting either. I'll have to read up on Wikipedia:Notability to see whether splitting it is an option... --Ayken (talk) 00:38, 19 January 2010 (UTC)
Controversy
editA lot of people who saw the game "Bayonetta" have been talking about the angels being your enemies in the game. I found a fair amount of comments on Youtube and forums. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 96.225.185.113 (talk) 23:17, 23 May 2010 (UTC)
- Adding such a piece of information, while theoretically very useful, would be viewed on Wikipedia as original research. You could do it if you found a published source (including on the Internet) that mentioned any such controversy. Tezero (talk) 01:45, 28 May 2010 (UTC)

editWhy doesnt this guy have a page on wikipedia? Imo "one of a kind" is a masterpiece, although I havent listened to any other of his music. Did he just get lucky? Money is tight (talk) 15:44, 28 December 2010 (UTC)

The line about a possible wii u port
editIs that line really necessary at the top of the page? And Thus, I Can Do It (talk) 09:28, 23 October 2013 (UTC)
- There has been so many claims around social networks and forums by regular Nintendo enthusiasts for the game to be re-released for the Wii U in some form (retail or download-only release) simply to be in concurrence with its Wii U-exclusive sequel. Of course there is currently no official word on whether the first title is to be available on Nintendo's platform or not. Hope(N Forever) (talk) 07:34, 5 November 2013 (UTC)
Cereza voice actress
editJust putting this here to make sure the (long-standing) misinformation does not get re-added going forward. Long story short, Stephanie Sheh is not the voice of Cereza; she only did the motion capture. Both Sheh and JP Kellams of Platinum Games confirmed this. According to Kamiya, she's played by a child actress whose name is not allowed to be disclosed.
Just want to make sure we have this here to refer people to in case they try to add the erroneous information again. -- 136.181.195.25 (talk) 14:01, 30 June 2014 (UTC)

On that 8-bit Bayonetta thing
edit[2] If you haven't see it, this 8-bit really simple Bayonetta game appeared on Steam on 4/1. Yes, first thought is that it is April Fools, but as articles note, there's a countdown on Sega's website that expires April 11 that is buried in the game, and imagery of the achievements when reassembled use promotional images from Bayonetta's original release. All signs are pointing to the game coming out on PC or announced then. As such, I would recommend per DEADLINE that we hold off on inclusion of the 8-bit game until 4/11, so we know what was actually being teased. --MASEM (t) 17:02, 3 April 2017 (UTC)

Good article nomination
editHey, So I've briefly looked at the article, and it looks like it meets the Good article criteria. But since I'm a newbie here, I want to get your opinion on this. MiasmaEternalTALK 23:42, 2 April 2020 (UTC)
- Seems good on a glance. Although I would remove the random review quotes in that gameplay picture. The last paragraph of the gameplay section also has some developer commentary which belongs in the development section. The plot section has some very, very long sentences with multiple semicolons. I would explain Enochian in the article itself rather than just link to it. The reviews section seems a tad too long. Also, why is the first paragraph just one sentence? The layout of the awards section is... sparse. Display the info in a table instead maybe?
- The article looks good to me for GA, although I only skimmed it. The only problems is some very short paragraphs and sections and the article sometimes going into unnecessary detail (3b. of GA).--Megaman en m (talk) 00:10, 3 April 2020 (UTC)
Move discussion in progress
editThere is a move discussion in progress on Talk:Bayonetta (series) which affects this page. Please participate on that page and not in this talk page section. Thank you. —RMCD bot 20:22, 3 November 2020 (UTC)
Useless screenshot
editFile:Bayonetta kick.jpg is pretty much useless. I'm unable to make anything out on it. The original is much better, but at 0.1 megapixel as required here this is useless. Ideally this is replaced with a screenshot in which the character(s) are a bigger part of the image, preferably against a contrasting background. [3] or [4] would be more clear. — Alexis Jazz (talk or ping me) 17:26, 5 September 2021 (UTC)
