In view of the recent move of Battle of Trindade, is the term Battle of Rio de Oro well established, or should we move it to something like "Sinking of Kaiser Wilhelm der Grosse"? PatGallacher (talk) 01:17, 14 December 2014 (UTC)Reply

The result of the move request was: Moved. This move request is old, and doesn't seem to have gained much discussion, despite a relist. Other than the discussion over whether there was a "sinking", which was apparently resolved by @Xyl:, there is no opposition to the move, so it will go ahead. It might be worth considering a merge and redirect as at Battle of Trindade, but that is not the result here. (non-admin closure)  — Amakuru (talk) 21:32, 16 January 2015 (UTC)Reply

Battle of Río de OroSinking of SS Kaiser Wilhelm der Grosse – The issues here appear similar to those at Battle of Trindade, no sign that the current title is widely used. Also, while Trindade is a small isolated island where this action may well be the most important thing which every happened there, Rio de Oro is a fairly large territory which has been fought over, this may not be the most important action. • Comment: The suggested new name does not seem appropriate because, apparently, the ship did not sink. The article says "its starboard side remained above the waterline until the ship was scrapped in 1952". —BarrelProof (talk) 01:55, 15 December 2014 (UTC)Reply
The term sinking is perfectly appropriate; it is used here, for example. And there is no quibble about using the term sinking in other cases where the ship sunk was in water shallow enough for some of it to be visible (viz. here, or here). Xyl 54 (talk) 02:54, 15 December 2014 (UTC)Reply
