Russian soldier's threat to use artillery on civilian population and grenade threat to crowd

To threaten a civilian population with an artillery strike is a war crime as is entering a civilian crowd holding grenades in a threatening manner - both of which appear to have occurred when the Russian soldiers talked with the city's Mayor in the town square. A check of the video footage and the Mayor's talk to the crowd would need to be done. Russian attacks repulsed?

I might be reading the map wrong, but it seems to me that the western Russian forces have been destroyed.

CBS claiming Russia has not captured the city

A CBS News article today claims Russia has "not yet captured a city since invading." Elijahandskip (talk) 02:00, 28 February 2022 (UTC)

The full period reads: "The Russian forces have advanced toward three cities, including Kyiv, but have not yet captured a city since invading." The complete quote mentions advances towards """only""" three cities (kyiv, chernihiv, and kharkiv??), so it seems like they are only referring to 3 cities, Konotop is not even mentioned anywhere. Saying the """no""" city was captured seems a bit too much, considering that even Ukraine recognized that some were taken. RGoes (talk) 02:15, 28 February 2022 (UTC)

Revert edit claiming the victory is possibly false due to CBS reporting

I believe that the vast majority of sources recognize this as incorrect, and that the city is under Russian control. I would like to revert the change as per WP: Fringe theories.Thespearthrower (talk) 04:11, 28 February 2022 (UTC)

The current context makes "Russian victory" rather ambiguous. It seems that the only Russian "victory" is that Konotop has in some sense become neutral (I'm assuming that the text accurately summarises the info in the source): Russian military forces can go around Konotop without being attacked by the locals, and in exchange, the locals keep their local municipal government (for the moment, at least) and Russian "troops" will "not be deployed". This video is not a WP:RS, but it does seem like the Russian military do not have political control of Konotop. Boud (talk) 17:14, 2 March 2022 (UTC)

Kyiv Independent translates/summarises from novosti.dn.ua: "Russia threatens to raze Konotop to the ground if it doesn't surrender. According to Konotop Mayor Artem Semenikhin, Russian troops delivered an ultimatum to the local authorities. If inhabitants resist, the city will be shelled with heavy artillery. The Ukrainian flag is flying in the city now, and the city administration is still Ukrainian. As proof, the Facebook page of the mayor of Konotop and this link. So there is no "Russian victory" as a result of this battle. Нілл (talk) 18:29, 11 March 2022 (UTC)
