Mining in Thailand exists only as a subsection of Economy of Thailand, with this article as the only one in Category:Mining in Thailand. Twentieth century impressions of Siam (1908) contains the article beginning on p.182, Mines and Mining Administration by John H. Heal, R.S.M., F.G.S., Inspector-General of the Royal Department of Mines and Geology.

According to an article on a blocked web site, The Department of Mineral Resources (DMR) Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment (MONRE), Thailand was founded on 1st January, 1891. The Department of Mineral Resources (DMR) Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment (MONRE), Thailand was established by King Chulalongkorn the Great (King Rama V) under the Royal Department of Mines and Geology.
