Merge?

I propose that we merge this article with the main BBC TWO article. BBC TWO Northern Ireland now just exists in one form on analogue and digital. The BBC TWO NI branding still remains (and is now on analogue too) but the channel is now referred to as "BBC TWO Northern Ireland") and is merely a variation of Network BBC TWO. I would be inclined to vote against such a move. BBC Two Northern Ireland (on air branded as BBC Two except with local continuity), delt with the analogue version and has already been merged into BBC Two.

This article specifically deals with the digital version which between 6pm and midnight is treated as a different channel. As well as differing programming, it includes the use of local idents, separate continuity and BBC Newsline & Weather updates at the TOTH. « Keith » 19:32, 11 November 2006 (UTC)

Since Saturday 28th October, "BBC TWO Northern Ireland" became the official on air name of the channel once more - across analogue and digital. TWO NI symbols, previously only seen on digital, are now also used on analogue and there is no separate programming. Weather and Newsline Updates air on both but I would contend that BBC TWO Northern Ireland does opt out quite regularly from BBC TWO network, almost as much as BBC ONE NI does these days! That purple logo on the main page is a mock - shall have to get a proper one.

I see that BBC ONE Scotland exists as a seperate page. We either need to get rid of all the variants pages (as I originally proposed) or to have one for all of the national regions. I would actually prefer to keep this page, but it should be retitled BBC TWO Northern Ireland. I would imagine that the forthcoming BBC TWO revamp will see "Northern Ireland" replace "NI" on idents.

In the meantime, I have decided to change the redirect from BBC TWO Northern Ireland to this page.

• Support - The link you quote dates to before the channels were merged. The channel is now never referred to as BBC TWO NI, although the logo has not been changed. This usage is identical to BBC ONE Northern Ireland, which, for four years had a "BBC ONE NI" logo, but it was never referred to using this name by announcers. A similar situation exists on BBC ONE North East and Cumbria, whose idents state BBC ONE NE & Cumbria. NotMuchToSay 16:44, 23 November 2006 (UTC)

The BBC Website's branding of channel names has been inconsistent - in the listing section - http://www.bbc.co.uk/bbctwo/listings/index.shtml?day=today&service_id=4285&x=8&y=4 , BBC TWO NI was always referred to as "BBC TWO Northern Ireland (digital)". The listings for BBC TWO Northern Ireland's Digital and analogue are still listed, though, of course, there are no variations any more.

The change seems to have been quietly, although note that the dedicated page http://www.bbc.co.uk/northernireland/bbc2ni has now been removed. (see http://web.archive.org/web/20050722235200/http://www.bbc.co.uk/northernireland/bbc2ni/ for old version)

I think to see the name change, you need to watch it (both on analogue and digital) and note what the announcers say!
