Sentence Structure?

"In September 2005, the channel's new idents based on the theme of an "four" and optical illusions, for example a swimming pool where a person on an inflatable ring appears in the bottom left corner, though ripples don't enter the remaining quarters." - I think there's something awkward about this sentence structure.

• Is "idents" shorthand for identity or identities? "In September 2005, the channel's new idents...appears in the bottom left corner, though ripples don't enter the remaining quarters." Even if it is correct, "idents" might need to be substituted with something else.
• I'm not sure about "for example a swimming pool where a person on an inflatable ring" and "though ripples don't enter the remaining quarters" being implemented into the same sentence. 'Idents' is indeed the correct term, and can't really be replaced with anything. It's widely used, so my guess is that you've just not heard it before. However, I'd agree that the sentance is clumsey. _TheIslander 15:26, 1 January 2008 (UTC)

Characterisation of the channel

There seems to be an odd choice of three programmes in the first paragraph of the Programming section. Not particularly representative, and only one of the three is original (not an import). What about music, world cinema, documentaries?

Maybe I'm missing something but I don't see why the reference for Curb is there - it gets a minor mention in the linked article, one that doesn't support the notion that it's one of the channel's more notable programmes.92.236.57.236 (talk) 00:09, 7 April 2008 (UTC)

Curb your Enthusiasm

Why does it state in the article that Curb your Enthusiasm first aired on BBC Four in the UK? Curb was shown on More4 not BBC Four. The reference being cited is for a single comment made on a comments section of the BBC site which is not a very reliable source. Curb Your Enthusiasm was indeed first aired in the UK on BBC Four and was an important programme for the channel in its early days. I don't think this statement should be deleted. TV Programming

Many of the programmes listed here do not seem to be in tune with BBC4's usual output: All Creatures Great and Small, Sykes, Last of the Summer Wine, Juliet Bravo, Top of the Pops. Can anyone verify any of these?

Is BBC Four closing?

My dad said that he has rumours that BBC Four might close, to save the BBC money. Is this true? If so, it should certainly go in the article. ACEOREVIVED (talk) 19:58, 27 October 2011 (UTC)

Possible correction of wording?

Would I be correct in thinking that this is a Television channel by the BBC and not a television network? "BBC Four is a British television network" See BBC Four. Ashleycardwell94 (talk) 10:26, 1 May 2012 (UTC)

1960s version of BBC FOUR

This article is about BBC FOUR starting in 2002.

Is there an older version of BBC FOUR in the 1960s, as indicated by this YouTube video of Peter, Paul and Mary singing on BBC FOUR in 1965? Or is that just a video of them singing on BBC Radio 4? Truthanado (talk) 04:27, 15 July 2023 (UTC)
