Arthur, is your name really Adolph edit

I'm sorry, but are you really implicating that you were named Adolf, I'm guessing that was it due to your Austrian heritage and why don't you legally change your name to something else.Having a name like Adolph could lose you oppurtunities in jobs, I know I have an odd name too

Non-free use disputed for Image:Laurie-the gun seller-1-.jpg edit

  This file may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:Laurie-the gun seller-1-.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read carefully the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content and then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our Criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 22:47, 5 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Fair use rationale for File:Lofty Large Aden 1966.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Lofty Large Aden 1966.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the file description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. ww2censor (talk) 22:39, 11 June 2010 (UTC)Reply

The Wire edit

Hey, great edits on Wire articles! I just read this book which you may be interested in [1]. It was pretty good.. there is a decent amount of analysis that could be incorporated in articles here--I'm not sure when/if I'll have the time to do it though. Thanks --CutOffTies (talk) 15:36, 29 September 2010 (UTC)Reply

Hi CutOffTies, Thanks for the thumbs up - nice to know work done is appreciated. I might well check out the book you recommend, although at the moment I'm working my way through the official series guide, as there's some good stuff in that too, which could help improve some of the articles.
By a rather circular coincidence, I've just watched Spirit of the Marathon (and very good it was too) after stumbling on the Wikipedia page you wrote on the subject. So good work there. Ah, mutual appreciation, eh. Ain't it grand?
Also, for future reference, as you may have seen on my user page, I've set up a second account, user:Gus Haynes, purely for Wire edits so that I don't clog up my regular watchlist. Arthur Holland (talk) 13:55, 30 September 2010 (UTC)Reply

New footnote edit

Arthur, you should improve the wording in the new footnote you added. It reads: "in 1890 the total population of Rio de Janeiro was 515,559. Of these only 55,861 (10.8% of the total population) were not eligible to vote solely because of their illiteracy". Anyone who reads it will believe that the remaining 460,000 inhabitants of Rio de Janeiro could vote. Also, since you're adding that data, you should also add the correct page numbers where they are found in the book: pages 84 and 85. Regards, --Lecen (talk) 17:03, 30 December 2010 (UTC)Reply

Louise Camuto edit

Hi Arthur, Thanks for your help on this subject. What would suffice as a good source for this information then? Is it better just to remove her educational history? --65.51.232.210 (talk) 17:26, 10 January 2011 (UTC)Reply

Well, a valid source would be a mainstream newspaper article, magazine article, or mainstream TV/radio program. However, given that the article's subject is (I presume) not sufficiently notable to have received any mainstream media attention since her beauty pageant days, I presume this won't be possible? As it stands, if you leave the educational info as it is, it will remain in the article but with the [citation needed] tags in place. You can come back later and put acceptable references in if you are able to find any.
I know it all seems a bit draconian, but it's the only way to a) stop people putting self-aggrandizing statements into articles about themselves, and b) stop people from putting libelous statements into articles about people they dislike.
Any further queries, just shout. Arthur Holland (talk) 17:44, 10 January 2011 (UTC)Reply

True Grit edit

Hi! Let's review the edit here

Your edit summary was: "RV good faith edit. She wasn't Steinfeld's double - she played the adult, amputee Mattie. She had more screen time than Elizabeth Marvel, who voiced (and played in close-up) the adult Mattie"

Well, the article describes the woman as being "the character's body double" - But then all that means is that your edit should have corrected/clarified the text. I don't see why the entire paragraph was removed. WhisperToMe (talk) 20:48, 27 February 2011 (UTC)Reply

I think because the particular double actress was interviewed in depth in a major U.S. newspaper about her role, the statement is more important than if it was merely a piece of trivia from a DVD cover. I'll see if I can find more sources about Ruth Morris... WhisperToMe (talk) 21:13, 27 February 2011 (UTC)Reply
I found one other source from a different Texas newspaper: Ward, Alyson. "Chance led Ruth Morris to 'True Grit,' but her role isn't a new one." Fort Worth Star-Telegram. Tuesday December 21, 2010. -- I'll rewrite an expand the paragraph using this source too. WhisperToMe (talk) 21:14, 27 February 2011 (UTC)Reply
Okay, I posted the new paragraph. Hopefully it illustrates the significance better WhisperToMe (talk) 21:19, 27 February 2011 (UTC)Reply

Luis Fortuño 'and' removal edit

Hello I've just noticed you correctly reversed a nameless contributor's addition of 'and'. I also thought it was a good faith edit on his part, but I am now noticing that he is systematically creating small faulty edits on several articles, and never discusses anything. He seems particularly obsessed with removing ALL instances of 'due to' in favour of 'because of' even when not appropriate. I'd write to him and but he has no talk page. From his multiple contributions this month only, I'd say nearly half of them deserve reversal, but my grammar isn't impeccable either. Would you have a look at his contributions and see if you agree? All English churches that pre-date the reformation are catholic in origin edit

I have added a new section to Lincoln Cathedral's talk page where we can discuss the statement of a very general nature, which Woodseats44 (talk) has repeatedly added to the summary statement at the top of Lincoln Cathedral: "Like all medieval buildings that are now cathedrals of England, Lincoln Cathedral is Roman Catholic in origin as it predates the Reformation." before making any further changes. — GrahamSmith (talk) 13:38, 28 February 2012 (UTC)Reply

Paris-Sorbonne article edit

Dear Arthur,

My name is Joshua and I'm a Master student in History of Art at Paris-Sorbonne University. In order to reply to your message, I would like to say that I consistently change the modifications I guess you have been making in the past few months about the article because I would like to provided with updated ranking information about the university. The QS 2014 ranking results have been published few weeks ago and the university ranks first in France, whereas it was ranked second last year, as you recorded.

On the other hand, I do think that the overall ranking performance you provided with is OK, but is not to be considered "paramount", at least, not to be put first in a introduction paragraph of an article on a university specialized in Arts and Humanities. I hope you understand my point.

Let me know what you think. Don't want you to think that I'm trying to mess things up or that I want to disagree with you on purpose.
