Dakota/Georgia?

edit

Perhaps there should be clarification of his movements from Dakota (or Georgia?) to the Phillipines in 1898. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Estebanwt (talkcontribs) 03:53, 15 June 2009 (UTC)Reply

Furthermore, it says "Dakota territory" in 1898 wereas the states of North and South Dakota were created in 1889. Any explanation ? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.157.95.102 (talk) 19:26, 31 March 2013 (UTC)Reply

Medal of Honor

edit

Article states "Arthur MacArthur, Jr. and Douglas MacArthur also shared the distinction of having been the first father and son to each be awarded a Medal of Honor." but Wikipedia's "Medal of Honor" article does not list them. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jb.37353 (talkcontribs) 00:36, 26 March 2011 (UTC)Reply

Governor of Wisconsin.

edit

I believe he was the governor for a very short time. Interesting little known fact. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 168.93.144.2 (talk) 20:00, 26 September 2012 (UTC)Reply

In fact it was his father who was governor of Wisconsin — Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.157.95.102 (talk) 19:24, 31 March 2013 (UTC)Reply

ALso not just Taft dislike of MacArthur..the President was Theodore Roosevelt..who made the decision of Who the Chief of Staff would be.. I think Roosevlt deceided that the position of Chief of Staff had to be taken over by someone who was not a Civil War Veteran...besides MacArthur had not completely served from 1862 to 1903..there was the matter of him resigning in 1865...and reenlisting several months more in 1866...weareas Chief of Staff Adna Chaffee and John C. Bates had served from continuously 1861 to 1906... — Preceding unsigned comment added by 50.5.89.217 (talk) 16:42, 26 December 2018 (UTC)Reply

Arthur Sr…the Judge was never married to Mary E Willcut. When his first wife died he married Zelia Hodges in 1867. She dies in 1870 and the following year the Judge marries Mary Hopkens. As for Arthur Jr. he never resigned his Volunteer commission. His unit was simply mustered out of the Army when the civil war ended. As for education arthur never attended West Point. He secured an appointment in class of 1863 but enlisted in 24 th Wisconsin and did not take up the appointment. In 1860 he graduated from Milwaukee University High then had two years at a military school in Illinois. Correction. Mary Willcut is same person as Mary Hopkens also spelled Hopkins. Mary was the third wife of Judge MacArthur.09:12, 28 November 2021 (UTC)09:12, 28 November 2021 (UTC)09:12, 28 November 2021 (UTC)~ — Preceding unsigned comment added by Cptbenteen (talkcontribs)
