Iraq

What did the Iraqis want to know about? One can see that Russia was in a position to take an active hand in Norway's internal administration should it choose to take on NATO, but Iraq? Was this information on how to make or extract heavy water? Midgley, by all means, go around this wikipedia deleting things that you find "unlikely" and insert opinions you agree with as facts, but he was convicted of espionage in favor of Iraq [1] [2] [3] and many many others. The sources don't specify what types of secrets he disclosed, beyond saying they were NATO secrets; my best recollection was that it was about military technology; since 1944, there have emerged other military secrets than the production of heavy water. --Leifern 22:25, 28 March 2006 (UTC)

Thank you for that helpful contribution, though not the tone in which it is made which is not WP:CIVIL. I see we agree that it probably wasn't information on the Kurdish residents of Norway and have both read the article. At that time Iraq as well as having an interest in nuclear proliferation had an interest in artillery and I suppose all the panoply of war, but mostly they satisifed it by buying it from states. In the UK there was the Matrix Churchill affair, which was suggested in some quarters had connections to national policy. Midgley 23:02, 28 March 2006 (UTC)

Denying guilt

Does Treholt still deny any guilt? He did admit receiving money from Iraq [4]. Does he claim that he only sold low-grade documents? In any case, I would like to see a source for the claim that he denied any guilt. -- Heptor _talk 22:32, 27 August 2007 (UTC)

No, he does not deny that he did things that he should not have done. He admitted that he received 40,000 USD from Iraq and argued that these were essentially payments he was given for private work. He said he should not have done this and he deals with it in his last book. In terms of the Soviet connection, he claims he only took money to cover travel costs since they insisted to. He said he did share low-grade material, but nothing that would threaten national security. I'll see if I can find a source... Improvement of section-titles (and their order)

I think that the present title of sections (as follows), can be improved.

1 Career 2 Personal life 3 Espionage 3.1 Basis for conviction 3.2 Cash evidence .

Does anyone have any suggestions on what titles ought to follow "career" and "personal life"?
