Odd sentence

In some neighborhoods, homes only a few hundred feet away from each other may have different area codes; 602 or 623.

Is this really particulary noteworthy. The dividing line has to be somewhere, so obviously this is true for just about every area code. --Jfruh (talk) 00:42, 28 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

Area code 602Area codes 602, 480, and 623This is a combination merger and requested move discussion and will be tagged as a merge from Area code 480 and Area code 623. In November 2021, the Arizona Corporation Commission approved a proposal from the state's telecommunications industry, received as part of relief planning for area code 480, to erase the geographic boundaries between 602, 480, and 623 in 2023 in lieu of the otherwise necessary assignment of two new area codes in three years to this area. While that may seem some distance off, the fact is that improving these three pages on a standalone basis will result immediately in much the same article in triplicate, as the present AC boundaries were created as the result of one three-way split event in 1999. The current pages could stand to have citations improved. Readers will be better served by one improved, well cited article covering these area codes in advance of the 2023 boundary elimination, not the maintenance of three separate pages covering much the same ground. (Area codes 213 and 323 was merged from two prior pages in 2017 after a similar action combined two separate area codes into an overlay complex, so there is precedent for the merger.) history of 928

edit
The first split in 1995 cleaved off numbers outside of metropolitan Phoenix (now in area codes 520 and 928);

This conflicts with Area code 520 and Area code 928, which say that 520 was created in 1995 and 928 in 2001, each in its present shape. —Tamfang (talk) 21:34, 20 February 2023 (UTC)Reply

Thanks Tamfang. That's just ambiguous wording on my part and I just need to change it. Sammi Brie (she/her • tc) 04:50, 21 February 2023 (UTC)Reply

On looking again at those two other articles, I see I was mistaken. —Tamfang (talk) 05:24, 21 February 2023 (UTC)Reply
