Talk:Architecture of Slovakia

Improving the article edit

Dans, I saw your post at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Architecture and think that the article could be improved by focusing on the development of architectural styles, rather than on describing individual buildings as it does at present. Examples of doing this include History of architecture#European and Architecture of Bosnia and Herzegovina, which you have contributed to. This would require finding WP:RELIABLE sources for the development of architecture in Slovakia, which could be difficult as Slovakia is a small and relatively new country. Not to mention that 90% of the buildings discussed in the article were built when the territory of present-day Slovakia belonged to Hungary (till 1918/20). --Norden1990 (talk) 22:21, 28 March 2021 (UTC)Reply
Thanks @TSventon: indeed, I am checking on a couple of books (those noted in the bibliography section, although they're quite specific, as well as Craig Cravens' Culture and Customs of the Czech Republic and Slovakia (2006), which has a section on architecture, though still Prague-heavy. As regards the comment by @Norden1990: this in principle should not be an issue, as the article concerns the architecture on the territory of present-day Slovakia, whether it is of Habsburg, Hungarian or Czechoslovak origin. --Dans (talk) 08:31, 29 March 2021 (UTC)Reply
I agree, but original version of the article write about "Slovak aristocrats" and so on. --Norden1990 (talk) 11:39, 29 March 2021 (UTC)Reply
There was indeed a lower nobility among Slovaks too. Almost all of them switched to the Hungarian language by the 19th century, but their existence is not controversial. --Azure94 (talk) 16:56, 30 March 2021 (UTC)Reply
I agree, but "aristocrats" and "lower nobility" are two different things. First of all, they did not build the great castles in the 16th-17th centuries. --Norden1990 (talk) 17:03, 30 March 2021 (UTC)Reply
Azure94, Norden1990, hopefully you can agree on some NPOV wording. TSventon (talk) 17:48, 30 March 2021 (UTC)Reply
