Odd phrasing edit

I just found it amusing that someone wrote that Rhoda "leans out for a closer look" at a planet. Yes, leaning out of a car window will get you much closer to another planet! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 209.191.166.202 (talk) 22:59, 12 July 2011 (UTC)Reply

Agreed. I've changed it to "better look" which makes more sense. --Oski Jr (talk) 00:21, 23 July 2011 (UTC)Reply

Forgive/Forget edit

I'm not sure if this belongs in the "Production notes" or if it's trivia that shouldn't be in an encyclopedia article, but Mike Cahill commented that Rhoda writes the word "Forgive" on Purdeep's hand. The movie's not out yet where I live, but evidently there's some debate among viewers over whether Rhoda writes "Forgive" or "Forget."—Biosketch (talk) 12:02, 31 July 2011 (UTC)Reply

Having just watched it, it is "Forgive" Casliber (talk · contribs) 12:54, 27 December 2012 (UTC)Reply

"Solaris (1972 film)" in "See also" section edit

I don't think that Tarkovsky's Solaris has anything to do to be put under "see also". Solaris is not a parallel earth or something like that. It's a totally different story. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 77.81.209.241 (talk) 15:57, 8 November 2011 (UTC)Reply

Actually, Ebert's Review of "Another Earth", The Cited Reference To "Solaris (1972 film)" In The "See also" Section, Includes The Following Statement: "The ('Another Earth') movie is as thought-provoking, in a less profound way, than Tarkovsky's 'Solaris,' another film about a sort of parallel Earth."[1] - In Any Case - Enjoy! :) Drbogdan (talk) 16:31, 1 January 2012 (UTC)Reply
  1. ^ Ebert, Roger (July 27, 2011). "ANOTHER EARTH (PG-13)". Chicago Sun-Times. Retrieved 2011-12-10. Seems Tarkovsky's 1972 film of "Solaris" may be about taking man from the earth, but not earth from the man.

Not science fiction. edit

This ain't sci-fi. This is melodrama. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 190.142.89.206 (talk) 22:40, 23 August 2013 (UTC)Reply

It's definitely not science fiction because it goes out of its way to get the physics wrong. It's magic realism, but unfortunately sources are from film reviewers who don't understand the epistemological and ontological difference between magic and the scientific method. -- Jeandré, 2014-05-20t10:45z

Missing core points in plot edit

I’m not entirely sure but it seems the plot synopsis is missing her attempt at suicide which proceeded entering the 2nd earth contest, and is important I think because she literally typed her essay with bandages on her fingers. And the plot synopsis doesn’t appear to mention that on the news it becomes clear the woman making contact with the 2nd earth is talking to another version of herself, lending to the believe that there are replicas of everyone on the planet. 2601:98B:4401:9190:4434:4E37:23CC:A58F (talk) 04:38, 3 March 2023 (UTC)Reply
