Untitled edit

Dear Administrator,

Please don't delete my work. I've been putting hours on writing this page. However, I have to emphasize that I'm not trying to promote aNobii.com through Wikipedia. I write on aNobii because it's Hong Kong's Web2.0 representative and it's been mentioned in "The New York Times" and "Business2.0". As to the Hong Kong people, aNobii.com means much more than just a web site. If there's any formatting error, please advice me and I'd correct it right away. Thanks. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by RKenshin (talkcontribs)11:59, 26 June 2007 (UTC).Reply

I'm not an administrator, but thank you for your contribution. The simplest way to show ANobii is "notable" by Wikipedia's definition (see Wikipedia:Notability (web)) is to cite the articles you've mentioned on the page itself. If you add a sentence or two about what the NYT and Business2.0 said about the site, that should keep the page from speedy deletion. EALacey 12:10, 26 June 2007 (UTC)Reply
I'm not great with the Wikipedia reference-style for internet links, so the NYT article is here. if someone could get that formatted and stuff, it could help with the "notability." I must add that it is only mentioned once in the article as an alternative to LibraryThing. --Rockymountains 16:58, 15 August 2007 (UTC)RockymountainsReply

aNobii is popular in Italy: http://news.google.it/news?hl=it&ned=it&q=anobii. I hope this can help to decide if it's popular enough for Wikipedia. --Manfroze 22:23, 2 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

Update - it seems to be gaining in notability in recent months, considering the acquisition by HMV Group and significant increase in users. -download ׀ talk 01:18, 10 June 2011 (UTC)Reply

Comment from developer of LibraryThing.com edit

Although my site competes with Anobii, I think this page should be retained. Sure, it's less notable that LibraryThing, GoodReads and Shelfari (or their Chinese competitor, Douban), but not by much. It might well become the dominant site; it would be a shame if Wikipedia were to miss that.

Other comments:

  • As it stands, this article is terrible. It's written in bad English, and is promotional in character. Anobii would be doing themselves a favor if they asked some of their users to redo it to a higher degree of professionality.
  • Removing the screen shot was clearly wrong. Screen shots of public websites are fair use, no matter what.

Obviously, I'm not touching this entry! 24.198.80.98 05:12, 4 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

the best way to rewrite this article edit

believe me, if you follow this way, they will hardly delete the article: follow the format of this article: wikipedia Lichunhon (talk) 10:01, 1 February 2009 (UTC)Reply

Spelling Consistency edit

Could the editors of this article please agree on a consistent spelling for its title? Either "aNobii" (which seems to be the official corporate spelling, see here) or the less fancy "Anobii", but not both. Thank you. Dhcmrlchtdj (talk) 13:14, 28 December 2011 (UTC)Reply

ANobiiAnobii – This weird camelcase spelling seems to have come out of nowhere and isn't used by this entity or by any sources I can find writing about it. Maybe they used it a long time ago, but it's not current, and per MOS:TM we would not use an unusual stylization like this even if it were preferred by the trademark holder, unless it is near-consinstently spelled this way by independent reliable sources.  — SMcCandlish ¢ 😼  06:13, 31 October 2023 (UTC)Reply

  • Support. Agree with nom's contention that the stylization isn't widely enough used to merit an appearance in the article title. ModernDayTrilobite (talkcontribs) 15:52, 1 November 2023 (UTC)Reply
  • Support looking at the references most of them used Anobii, including their own site. I also removed a template that displayed the first letter as lowercase since tjr vast majority of the references did not have type the first A in lowercase.--67.70.101.104 (talk) 01:34, 5 November 2023 (UTC)Reply
