Date of birth

Many sources, e.g. [1] report that she was born on 4 October 1931 rather than what we're saying, 5 June 1930. Truth? -- Jack of Oz ^{[pleasantries]} 21:20, 6 March 2014 (UTC)

The date was introduced by the same editor who announced her death, did the same in German saying it's the birth date in her birth certificate. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 21:32, 6 March 2014 (UTC)

I'm in no position to deny the truth of it, and I make no judgement about our friend's good faith. But it does offend our rules requiring citations for significant material, and a subject's birth date is certainly that. If it's true, there will be some documentation of it somewhere, even if by a reliable secondary source. He can be assumed (!) - not proven - to be reliable. The editor is not anonymous, you could go to their talk. They gave good information on her death. - There may never be a secondary source. - Just thought of no relevance from --Gerda Arendt (talk) 08:36, 7 March 2014 (UTC)

Date of death

I've just corrected the date from 4 February to 24 February. The only source that gave the earlier date was from The Guardian, written by Alan Blyth, who died in 2007, as the piece acknowledges at the bottom. That alone makes any of the content suspect.
