Nominated for Good Article status

I have nominated this article to become a Good Article. I admit bias, my wife did much of the work on this article, (and I did enough (in the way of guidance, moral support, critiquing, etc) to disqualify me as a reviewer) but in reviewing the criteria, I think it will pass them. GAN on hold

1. Ref 10...is citing a WP article. This is pretty unconventional...can't you cite one of the references from the article? (or, indeed, anything else?)
2. The lead is kinda awkward...it doesn't really summarise as well as it could. I'm sure Lar will know what I mean. ;) (Basically, doesn't really mention much from any section, so it could be longer...)
3. Generally, she should be referred to by surname (rather than as "Ann") wherever possible.
4. "Ann's father, after a long illness, died just before she was born in 1752." - this is a bit wordy...perhaps "her father died shortly before her birth, after a long illness" (what illness?)
5. "Ann's mother, Margareta," - she's already been named, you don't need to do so again...
6. Some of the quotes in the Marriage to John James Bleecker section need direct citations
7. "Then, in 1777,..." - this is a strange start to the section...needs context
8. Image in Literary impact section needs caption

Hi Giggy, can you change these points to a numbered list? it will make referring to items easier. Point 1 about the crossref to another WP article... ya, that is weird. I tried a change in which it's just referred to as a parenthetical in that sentence (losing the ref) because the Saratoga Campaign article didn't have a cite for the surrender date. thanks! #4... I flipped the order there. In the 1750s it was not unusual not to know what the illness was. E has found another cite about the length, it too doesn't say the cause.... #5, fixed to remove name. #7, fixed to remove "Then," and just start "in 1777" ++Lar: t/c 03:44, 18 May 2008 (UTC)

Captivity narrative

Hello, I am wondering why the article calls her book the first captivity narrative when one link away tells us Mary Rowlandson's 1682 narrative is obviously much earlier. The article should be edited to address this discrepancy. Luciusgilmer (talk) 11:39, 15 September 2008 (UTC)

Good question. Rowlandson wrote a short "memoir" of her own personal experience not meant for publication when it was written. Bleecker's Maria Kittle was written as a story, a novel for entertainment. I think that is the reason Maria Kittle is considered the first Captivity narrative or novel. I will change the word narrative to novel in the article. Hopefully that will make it more clear. - Epousesquecido (talk) 15:33, 15 September 2008 (UTC)
