Still a STUB?

edit

Granted, this article needs work (missing biographic info, etc.) , but seems no longer a STUB. Perhaps a B-class article now? Can someone assess? --Smilo Don 15:49, 18 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Fleshing out the biography

edit

The biography could be fleshed out from his Ramon M. award bio:[1] --Smilo Don 18:17, 18 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Bung, Bang

edit

Hmmm.... They're the same thing (as you probably know) and derive from Abang. But the standard spelling for a long, long time has been "bung" -- Karno, Harto (before he became a pak), etc... However, i must concede that a google for "bang ali" sadikin turns up a lot more hits than "bung ali" sadikin, so my apologies. I guess it was a betawi thing...Bali ultimate (talk) 05:20, 17 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

Oh one more thing... a quick scan of the article didn't show me any reference of the Petisi 50. I'll read again, and if it's not there, probably put it in in a few days.

Bung is used for national figures such as Karno et al as you rightly say, but 'bang' is used in Medan and also in Jakarta for people seen as more working class (ie to becak drivers) or who want to be seen so. Former Jakarta governor Sutiyoso is trying desperately to get people to call him 'Bang Yos' to help give him a 'man of the people' image for his presidential bid.
