Merge edit

As this company no longer exists and was a direct predecessor to ABN AMRO, and particularly as this provides little information it could easily be included in the history section of ABN AMRO. I therefore propose this be merged with ABN AMRO. Sargdub (talk) 02:38, 1 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

I would prefer to see this article kept separate. ABN had a great history, it just isn't up on Wikipedia yet, perhaps because there is so much. The logical structure would be articles on ABN, On Amsterdamsche Bank, Rotterdamsche Bank, AMRO, and then ABN AMRO. Acad Ronin (talk) 14:46, 1 July 2010 (UTC)Reply
That would be okay and I dont have objection to that as it does mirror the structure on dutch language wikipedia, however the page at the moment is very lacking in information and the others dont exist yet. So my main point is that there is a lot of great history from ABN AMRO that is not represented on wikipedia at all. I am happy if somebody expands and creates the pages as you suggest and I guess this could be done from translating dutch pages, but this page has been here since 2007 and nothing much has been done. There are also no nice links from any other history or bank pages to this page either. So I suggest we merge the articles for now, and when somebody wants to expand the history, the information can be broken into different pages for each of the old banks as and when there is enough information to justify separate pages. On second thoughts I have expanded this article as well as creating an article on AMRO Bank and I have also added a brief summary of the history on the main ABN AMRO page. However still a lot more that can be done on the history, but I now think we can justify keeping these pages separate, so I retract my merge proposal. Sargdub (talk) 11:31, 11 July 2010 (UTC)Reply
