Name change

The official Supercup logo on TV screens and the badge that the players have on their kits in the match for the past couple of seasons has read 2019/20 and 2020/21. Should we change the title of these articles to reflect that, i.e. 2020–21 Supercoppa Italiana instead of 2020 Supercoppa Italiana for this specific article? Sort of like how the Supercopa de Espana is now formatted as 2019–20 and 2020–21 instead of just simply 2019 or 2020. Thanks. Rupert1904 (talk) 21:52, 20 January 2021 (UTC)

– The past two editions of the competitions have been branded "biennially", rather than with the single year. See the official Serie A website for the past edition, and the official logo for this year's edition. • I am totally against this, because it is a competition that is considered as an annual competition (except for the logo). In the official site [1] editions are written annually.

Unlike the Supercoppa de Espana, however, we could confuse readers because they may think that the 2019 Supercopa was not played, instead it was "merged" with 2020 and in this case it seems right to call it "Supercopa 2019-20"

• Oppose per Mazewaxie. If we're basing moves on logos: 2018 also uses 2018-19 (played in Jan. 2019) but even 2017 (played in Aug. 2017 uses 2017-18) and 2016. Should these be moved as well on that basis? This shows that taking the years listed at the top of the logo as being the actual name of the competiton is WP:OR includes any analysis or synthesis of published material that serves to reach or imply a conclusion not stated by the sources. This is not something we should base a move on, but rather written sources: there are two official communications, one that uses 2020 and one that uses 2020/2021. There are several news clippings that also just use "PS5 Supercup", and so I agree with Rupert below that the league is pretty unorganized in their communications, but given the conflicting information, I don't see any convincing or substantive evidence here that would warrant a move at this time.   • I'm totally on the same page. We should do the same even with Supercopa de España. Let's have a look at here. The last two editions were just called Supercopa de España 2020 and Supercopa de España 2021, jumping directly from 2018 edition to 2020. This did not happen for Supercoppa Italiana, therefore 2020 Supercoppa Italiana.--Island92 (talk) 21:52, 21 January 2021 (UTC)
• Support @Mazewaxie – in that very document you link to, they also have the logo naming the competition "Supercoppa Italiana 2020/2021". They also go back and forth between calling it Supercup and Supercoppa Italiana - I imagine the anglicizing is to reach a broader audience but maybe we should also consider changing article name on wikipedia. I think this all points to Lega Serie A not being the best organized football league/federation. You can check the official Supercup landing page on Lega Serie A site where the competition is predominantly referred to as 2020/2021 but there's also one article with just 2020. See that here: [3]. • Support and Oppose for different articles. I support for the 2020–21, because the event was hosted in a different year than the name suggests; but, I oppose for 2019–20, as the season it was played in does not matter, it's about the year, and in this case, it was played in the same year as the name suggests. BTW, this cup tournament is usually played in the following season, whether it is in August or December should not determine whether we call it 2019 or 2019–20. On that note, I think we should move the 2018 Supercoppa Italiana to 2018–19, because it was played in a different year as the original title suggests.
  So, I SUPPORT 2020–21.
  I OPPOSE 2019–20.
