Neutrality

edit

I think the neutrality of the article should be disputed. It says Kansas "earned" a trip to the Bowl, which, at least to me, reeks of bullshit.MonkeyBWest (talk) 08:38, 22 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

If you're a Missouri fan, I can completely understand the sentiment. Regardless, the BCS committee thought Kansas had earned it enough to be selected, and well, here they are. JKBrooks85 (talk) 15:19, 22 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

The 109th SOS ranking is disputed. It has not appeared documented anywhere on the web, other than in articles like the one used here as a source. In reality, Sagarin has KU's SOS at 88. CBS has it at 74, a notch better than Southern California. Nothing of this sort says 109th. That number appeared out of thin air on the BCS selection show and apparently people have decided to run with it. Chade89 (talk) 03:15, 8 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Can you throw down some citations to that effect? I'll double-cite the 109 ranking thing and insert some language about controversy. JKBrooks85 (talk) 03:50, 8 January 2008 (UTC)Reply
I stand corrected. Looks like you already put a citation in there. I've polished up that section and tried to improve the readability. Let me know what you think. JKBrooks85 (talk) 03:59, 8 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

I didn't add a citation, must have been someone else. Anyways, that section looks fine now. Really, the article in its entirety is very well done. Chade89 (talk) 16:40, 8 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

I appreciate it. I'm trying to keep an even-handed tone, and it's always good to get comments. JKBrooks85 (talk) 17:25, 8 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Good Article

edit

I have reviewed this article thoroughly, and the only thing I could find wrong with it was a few typos (which I promptly fixed). Congratulations to all who helped in getting this article to GA status. RC-0722 (talk) 02:12, 18 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Strength of Schedule

edit

Since there is clearly a POV being pushed here without regard to truth, I will make this known. The University of Kansas football team's strength of schedule was at one point 109 out of 119, but so were many other major schools. That is irrelevant for BCS selections. The only thing that matters for BCS selection is the strength of schedule AT THE TIME OF SELECTION. So let's look at the actual strength of schedule rankings that the BCS uses, shall we?

Sagarin has already been mentioned. Anderson & Hester: 67 / 119 (http://andersonsports.com/football/ACF_d097.html) Colley Matrix: 77 / 119 (http://www.colleyrankings.com/foot2007/rank15.html) Massey Ratings: can't find selection time ratings; current is 59 / 119 (http://www.masseyratings.com/rate.php?lg=cf)

These four SOS ratings are the ONLY ones that matter to the BCS selection committee, as they are the ONLY ones that go into the computer ratings for the BCS. http://www.bcsfootball.org/bcsfb/rankings

Remember, the BCS is 1/3 computer ratings, 1/3 Coaches Poll, and 1/3 Harris Poll.

This irrelevant nonsense about KU's schedule being 109/119 is completely inappropriate for an article that should be based on facts. If we include that, we should include the SOS for EVERY team for EVERY week throughout the season because undoubtedly many major college football programs have very low SOSs at some point during the season. Cherry picking statistics to push your POV is extremely unencyclopedic. 24.124.109.67 (talk) 15:45, 14 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

I've scrubbed it up a bit more. If you could give a little more input on how you think it should read, I'd greatly appreciate it. JKBrooks85 (talk) 00:32, 15 February 2008 (UTC)Reply
