- No other articles of this type mention similar sort of events. These articles should only include the main top importance events in Israel. Events related to culture and society are going to be added to additional articles (as you can see in the red links at the bottom of the articles). TheCuriousGnome (talk) 12:32, 23 August 2010 (UTC)
- I disagree with you on this one, for a number of reasons. The entry certainly cannot be redundant, as it does not appear elsewhere in the "year in Israel' series, nor, even if all the "red links' were completed, could these "culture and society" links be sufficently wide to encompass the Israel Prize, as such. The Prize covers contribution to society in the realm of music, film, sport, science, medicine, politics, education, art, history, religion, social work, literature, theatre, and much more. The Israel Prize has been descibed as Israel's Nobel Prize (although its subject range is much wider) and I would point out that not only does a complete list of the Nobel Prize winners appear in each of the general year articles, but in 1901, there is an entry for November 10 that reads "The first Nobel Prize ceremony is held in Stockholm on the 5th anniversary of Alfred Nobel's death" - namely a similar entry to that made by me in connection with the inaugural Israel Prize. I would also mention that there are, in fact, many references to cultural events throughout the general year and in many of the year in specific countries, including Australia, Ireland, Japan, Luxembourg, United Kingdom, United States, etc. I certainly consider the first award of Israel's highest honour to be a "main top importance events in Israel" and the entry should be reinstated. - Non of the other Years by country articles include awards sections nor mention the first year in which local awards started. Does anyone else (beside Davshul) believe we should add the event "* "April 20 – The Israel Prize is awarded for the first time" to this article? TheCuriousGnome (talk) 16:31, 23 August 2010 (UTC)

I have to agree with Davshul here—the first Israel Prize is perfectly notable for a list of events in a particular year in Israel. What is redundant however is those red links. We don't need an article 1953 in Israeli film. —Ynhockey (Talk) 19:45, 24 August 2010 (UTC)
- In that case I'll revert this change back. About the red link - I am currently writting all the culture articles as well. The red link is placed there so that it would be understood that this information should not be written in this article. TheCuriousGnome (talk) 17:54, 26 August 2010 (UTC)
