There seems to be some confusion about the correct spelling of the surname Sénancour, perhaps due to the earlier tradition in which majuscule (capital) letters in French printing were often not accented. So for example, in many older books, one can see the author's name spelled as "E SENANCOUR" without an accent on either the E of Étienne or on the E in the surname. No one, however, questions that the given name Étienne has an acute accent on the first letter. Many older books do in fact show the accent in the surname. I believe that Sénancour, not Senancour, is actually the correct spelling, and that this article should be corrected accordingly.
