Samir Memišević (Bosnian pronunciation: [sâːmir memîːʃeʋitɕ]; born 13 August 1993) is a Bosnian professional footballer who plays as a centre back for Eredivisie club Groningen and the Bosnia and Herzegovina national team.

Memišević started his professional career at Slaven Živinice, before joining Sloboda Tuzla in 2012. He then went to Serbia, where he played for Teleoptik and Bežanija. In 2014, he moved to Radnik Bijeljina. Two years later, he was transferred to Groningen.

Memišević made his senior international debut for Bosnia and Herzegovina in 2016.

Club careerEdit

Early careerEdit

Born in Tuzla, Memišević started his career in Slaven Živinice before arriving to Sloboda Tuzla in the summer of 2012.[1] During his stint with the club, he scored his first professional goal on 28 October 2012 against Iskra Bugojno.[2]

During the winter transfer window of 2013 he moved to Serbia and joined Partizan's feeder club Teleoptik.[3] He stayed in Serbia for 18 months, whole time playing in their second division. Besides Teleoptik, he played for Bežanija.[4]

In August 2014 he returned to Bosnia and Herzegovina by joining Radnik Bijeljina. He also served as club's captain.[5]

GroningenEdit

In August 2016 Memišević joined Dutch club Groningen, signing a three-year contract.[6] He debuted in Eredivisie on his 23rd birthday.[7]

It took him almost two years to score his first goal for the club, which came on 29 April 2018 in a league game against Excelsior.[8]

International careerEdit

Memišević got his first call-up for Bosnia and Herzegovina in May 2016. It was for friendly game against Spain and 2016 Kirin Cup.[9] He debuted as a second-half substitute in a 1–3 loss against Spain on 29 May 2016.[10]

Personal lifeEdit

Memišević's father Midhat was also a professional footballer who currently works as football manager.[11]
