Laxmmi Bomb

Laxmmi Bomb is an upcoming Indian Hindi-language comedy horror film written and directed by Raghava Lawrence in his Hindi directorial debut. It is a remake of the 2011 Tamil film Muni 2: Kanchana and stars Akshay Kumar and Kiara Advani.[2] Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the film will not be released theatrically in India and will stream there on Disney+Hotstar on 9 November 2020.[1]

The film, a remake of Muni 2: Kanchana, was announced in the second half of January 2019 by the director of its original version i.e. Raghava Lawrence with Akshay Kumar in lead role.[9]Principal photography began on 22 April 2019 with the shoot of song "Bismillah".In January 2020, the the starcast filmed song "Burj Khalifa" in Dubai.[10] The filming was wrapped up on 1 March 2020.[11]

Marketing and releaseEdit

Laxmmi Bomb was scheduled to be released on 22 May 2020,[12] but was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.[13]

On 29 June 2020, Disney+ Hotstar conducted virtual press conference where Akshay Kumar announced that the film will release on Disney+ Hotstar exclusively as part of Disney+ Hotstar Multiplex initiative which was a result of theatre shut down due to COVID-19 pandemic.[14] However, it was later decided to release the film in countries where theatres re-opened such as United Arab Emirates, Australia and New Zealand.[15]

The official trailer was launched by Disney+Hotstar on 9 October 2020. It was also announced that the film will be released globally on 9 November, near to Diwali.[1][16]


The film's music was composed by Tanishk Bagchi, Shashi–DJ Khushi and Anup Kumar while lyrics written by Vaibhav Shrivastava, Vayu, Gagan Ahuja, Farhad Samji and Anup Kumar.
