Karan Patel (born 23 November 1983) is an Indian television actor known for playing Raman Bhalla in Star Plus's Ye Hai Mohabbatein.[1] In 2013, he participated in the dance reality show Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa.[2]

Early lifeEdit

Karan Patel is a Gujarati who was born in Calcutta on 23 November 1983.[3][4][5] His father's name is Rashesh Patel.[6] He did his schooling at Utpal Shanghvi School in the Juhu suburb of Mumbai and graduated Mithibai College, Mumbai. He attended the Kishore Namit Kapoor Acting Institute and the University of the Arts London. He has also attended Shiamak Davar's dance classes.[7]

Personal lifeEdit

Karan married Ankita Bhargava on 3 May 2015 in Mumbai.[8][9]


Karan starred in the STAR Plus series Kasturi, where he played Robbie Sabarwal, his first lead role. Previously, he played a number of roles in Balaji Telefilms. His first role was in Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii where he played Vigyat. He has also worked in Kasautii Zindagii Kay and Kasamh Se.[10]

In 2008 he debuted as host by anchoring a new show Kaho Na Yaar Hai.[11] In 2013, he participated in Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa.[12][13] He recently quit the show Yeh Hai MohabbateinYeh Hai Mohabbatein as Raman Kumar Bhalla.[14] This role earned him numerous awards such as, ZEE Gold Awards for Best Actor (Popular) three years in a row (2014–16),[15][16][17] Indian Television Academy Award for Best Romantic Actor (Male) in 2015,[18] Indian Telly Award for Best Actor in a Lead Role,[19] STAR Parivaar Awards for Best Jodi three years in a row with Divyanka Tripathi (2014–16).[20][21][22] His role as Raman Kumar Omprakash Bhalla earned him ZEE Gold Awards for Best Actor (Popular) three years in a row (2014–16), the Indian Television Academy Award 2015 for Best Romantic Actor (Male), and the Indian Telly Award for Best Actor in a Lead Role.
