Bizarre dates edit

According to the summary, "the original has been missing since 1860". I'm guessing it must refer to the original daguerrotype; but then how come that a photo has been taken of it in 1904? Korodzik (talk) 19:13, 13 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

Daguerreotypes were often taken of other daguerreotypes (identifiable by diminishing quality and a constant mirroring of the image). I'm not sure about this particular image, but Michael Deas's book The Portraits and Daguerreotypes of Edgar Allan Poe probably knows more. --Midnightdreary (talk) 21:02, 13 May 2009 (UTC)Reply
Ah, I understand now. Can the summary be edited a bit to make it a little clearer? Korodzik (talk) 21:27, 14 May 2009 (UTC)Reply
Well, that's only an assumption on my part. --Midnightdreary (talk) 21:59, 14 May 2009 (UTC)Reply
