Draft

edit

@Historyday01: Hi, kind regards. I read here: Wikipedia talk:WikiProject LGBT studies/Archive 77 that you were interested in creating an article about Morgana. It's the same case with me and just today I noticed that this draft was started. I wanted to notify you so you could take a look at the content and in case you had any proposals. I'd be glad to help if needed. Pinging creator @Turtletennisfogwheat: too in case they have any feedback. Best wishes, NoonIcarus (talk) 00:44, 16 June 2024 (UTC)Reply

Some possible sources: [1][2]. --NoonIcarus (talk) 01:24, 16 June 2024 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for the sources and I appreciate your interest in helping develop this article. --Turtletennisfogwheat (talk) 09:53, 16 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
@Turtletennisfogwheat: Any time, my pleasure :) I've taken the liberty to expand the article and move it into the main space, if that's alright. Since English is not my first language, please feel free to copyedit the new text how you see fit. Kind regards, --NoonIcarus (talk) 11:33, 30 June 2024 (UTC)Reply

Overhaul and rewrite at request of Morgana

edit

Hi I’ve been working with Morgana directing and we are doing a complete overhaul of this page. So things are going to edit drastically at her guidance and request

Thank you! Just wanted to give you a heads up and ask that no changes be made once we have that set upJustaspoonfulofstardust (talk) 17:55, 20 August 2024 (UTC)Reply

For reasons which I have explained on your talk page, Justaspoonfulofstardust, you should not edit in the way you have described, and it certainly isn't appropriate to ask other editors not to make changes. JBW (talk) 22:56, 20 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
I acknowledge this and have no intention of editing this way in the future. I would like to be a collaborative team player on this page as an editor. I apologize for my words, my disrespect and my request for no further editing.
Please accept my humble apology and expect and accept me to edit in a respectful way without expecting anyone to not also edit the page.
Thank you. Justaspoonfulofstardust (talk) 04:34, 21 August 2024 (UTC)Reply

@Justaspoonfulofstardust: Hi! I hope it's not late to offer some insight. Like other editors have mentioned, you might be interested in reading Wikipedia:Conflict of interest. Editing about a subject with which you have a personal or professional connection is strongly discouraged, but you're still able to make edit requests or suggestions if there is room for improvement.

As the editor that started the article, I'd be glad to help however I can, so you could let us know if there are still pending recommendations. Best wishes! --NoonIcarus (talk) 20:16, 21 September 2024 (UTC)Reply

Adding information and pictures

edit

This is the picture I would like to add to the page. Morgana has stated multiple times in Instagram that it is her favorite photo and embodies her feeling her most confident and like herself

[3]https://www.instagram.com/p/C9Ab8qIJB7X/?img_index=1

I would also like to add this statement in her personal life section Morgana is a trans woman and lesbian. She came out as trans fem in 2009 and presented fluidly in her career until coming out professionally during the production of Earth to Ned. This ties into many of her social media posts and conversations in Q&As when she talks about how she came out and she posts many pictures of herself and her girlfriend on her instagram, tying her role of Sallie May as a personal one and the animated version of herself

I'm working on some writing but I would like to request to add a longer and more thorough section of Morgana's work with Brandon Rogers and the importance of Sallie May as a defining moment that helped her fall back in love with acting and her career. [4]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DL6C3CB9FNc The page also does not currently mention her work in Class Acts, Bryce or any of her other current works with Brandon Rogers except the upcoming Dracula's Ex-Girlfriend. Morgana is also the currently the Head of Merchandise, Licensing, and Creative Partnerships for Spindlehorse. I am compiling articles, images, videos and posts to go in the reference section.

Another thing that I request to change is the intros highlight on the Harry Potter fan film. Morgana said in a fan Q&A that she is not very proud of that work and feels embarrassed as a Trans woman that so many people see that come up as the first thing you learn about her and that the first reference mentions her dead name and shows an image of her dead identity before she began her transition.

If it's okay I will continue to place editing requests in this thread along with articles, posts and videos that support them

Thanks! Justaspoonfulofstardust (talk) 19:33, 21 August 2024 (UTC)Reply

This is the purposed new intro that I have written and request to edit with feedback welcomed
Morgana Gwendolyn Ignis (born May 19 1989) is an American actress, comedian, and writer. She's known for playing a variety of on-screen characters, often in physically transformative roles, as well as voicing the character Sallie May on the adult animated web series Helluva Boss (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Helluva_Boss).
This language is used in her Convention appearance biography and takes the focus away from two roles that Morgana wishes were not the first thing people read in her page intro
Thank you Justaspoonfulofstardust (talk) 19:39, 21 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
I would also like to propose this as a collaborative rehaul on the page including other editors if others are open to that idea I'd be most appreciative of feedback, advice and collaboration.
Thank you! Justaspoonfulofstardust (talk) 19:51, 21 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
Regarding the image: There's no license statement on the image, which means it's assumed to be under an all-rights-reserved license, so we can't use it. —C.Fred (talk) 19:47, 21 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
This is an honest, curious question to know what I'm looking for while I'm searching for another photo to use. I noticed that a ton of articles and public bios have photos taken from google searches, social media, convention interviews etc. What makes a photo allowed to be used? Justaspoonfulofstardust (talk) 20:10, 21 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
Thank you for your patience, feedback and understanding as I learn Justaspoonfulofstardust (talk) 20:13, 21 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
What makes a photo allowed to be used is the license of the image. In the case of a living person, the image must be under a free license. (There are some limited cases when a non-free image can be used for a dead person.) Further, it's likely that the Google search has picked up the free image from Wikimedia Commons. —C.Fred (talk) 20:26, 21 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
"often in physically transformative roles" is going to require a citation to back it up. --Hammersoft (talk) 22:35, 21 August 2024 (UTC)Reply

The notability of Ignis' deadname

edit

I initially created the page including Morgana's deadname per WP:DEADNAME due to a lot of the main sources that determined her to be notable in the first place came from before she publicly transitioned. However, some users here disagreed and say that she became more notable after coming out. While said point could be argued, as I analyzed the sources, it came across like she has about the same level of notability after coming out as she did before coming out, meaning that she was fairly notable even pre-transition. What do you think? Turtletennisfogwheat (talk) 03:17, 26 September 2024 (UTC)Reply

I could have sworn that I had already responded here, I'm sorry. I think that there could be a source analysis, but it seems that even her participation in projects is bigger after her transition. I think that the deadname should be avoided to be safe. Kind regards, --NoonIcarus (talk) 16:21, 3 November 2024 (UTC)Reply
