Molly Elizabeth Brown is an American actress. She is best known for her reoccurring role in the Showtime American drama television series Billions, in which she plays the role of Elizabeth Prince. She has also starred in films including Senior Year, Lost Girls, and The Good House. In addition to Billions, her television credits also include High Maintenance, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, Conviction, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, Chicago Med, and FBI: International.
Early life
editBrown was born in Cedar Rapids, Iowa [1] to Sara Riley. Her parents are both lawyers and divorced while she was young. She is the youngest of three children and she has two brothers Patrick Riley and Ryan Brown. She is the granddaughter of Iowa politician and celebrated attorney Tom Riley.
She attended Washington High School (Cedar Rapids, Iowa) in Cedar Rapids and has been quoting saying that her favorite memory of her senior year in high school was graduating early. After high school, Brown attended the University of Iowa where she majored in and graduated with a degree in theatre in 2015. After college she moved to New York City to pursue a career in acting.
Career
editBrown's first major role came in 2016 when she starred in the role of Emily Price in the ABC American legal drama television series Conviction. After her role in Conviction, Brown's next major role came in 2018 when she starred as Maddy in the HBO hit American television series High Maintenance. In High Maintenance, Brown played the role of a college student who is overburdened by a domineering mother. In 2018 Brown also starred as Jenni Hanson in the Law & Order: Special Victims Unit playing the role of a high school student whose close friend goes missing. In 2018, Brown starred in Amazon Prime Video's American period comedy-drama television series The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel as Leah, a possible love interest for Michael Zegen's character Joel Maisel.
Brown's first role in film came in 2020 when she starred in the role of Missy in the American mystery drama film Lost Girls which was directed by Liz Garbus. The film revolves around the murders of young female sex workers on the South Shore barrier islands of Long Island, committed by the Long Island serial killer, who remains unidentified. The film premiered at the Sundance Film Festival on January 28, 2020, and was later released on March 13, 2020, by Netflix. Also in 2020, Brown voiced a national campaign for American Express's Delta Airlines Platinum American Express card [2]. The advertisement aired during Super Bowl LIV and the 92nd Academy Awards. In 2020 Brown returned to television starring in the role of Molly Myers in the NBC medical drama Chicago Med.
In 2021 Brown received her breakout role as Elizabeth Prince in the Showtime American drama television series Billions. Elizabeth Prince is the daughter of billionaire Michael Prince played by Corey Stoll. Brown's character often buttheads with Stoll's character as the two struggle in the fast pace and high intensity American financial market. Also in 2021, Brown starred in The Good House as Emily Good. In this role Brown played the daughter of Sigourney Weaver's character Hildy Good. The Good House premiered as a Gala Presentation at the Toronto International Film Festival in 2021 [3]. The film is also set to appear 2022 Tribeca Film Festival[4]. Also in 2021, Brown starred as Ella Clancy in the CBS American crime television FBI: International. In 2021, Brown also appeared in a national campaign for Verizon.
In addition to her continuing work on Billions, in 2022 Brown appeared as Young Martha Reiser in Rebel Wilson's Senior Year.
Personal Life
editBrown identifies as a lesbian. She currently resides in Brooklyn, New York. She is an avid fan of the board game The Settlers of Catan and has often appeared in regional Catan tournaments.
