Producer James Worthy

Page was deleted due to "copyright infringement" from reverbnation. I would like to have an opportunity to change the biography although it was written by a source of James Worthy for his continued use and was written specifically for a purpose such as Wikipedia. At this time, I have no problem re-writing the biography for use for Wikipedia and would love to get the opportunity to do so! I am new at Wikipedia, so I have been trying to find out how to contact the administrator that deleted the page also. Thank you — Preceding unsigned comment added by CValrie (talkcontribs)

Note: This page was deleted under speedy deletion criterion G12, which indicates a page copied and pasted wholesale from another source, or otherwise closely paraphrased from same. G12 deletions will not be overturned here or anywhere else. You must re-write it from scratch, as admins will not restore obvious copyright violations or send yu a copy of the deleted article (on the grounds that you still have access to the source the article was copied from). Note that "a purpose such as Wikipedia" is, if I assume correctly, actually disallowed as Wikipedia's license requires the ability to re-use the content in any context provided all requirements are met (see our content licence for more details). —Jeremy v^_^v Bori! 21:19, 26 July 2015 (UTC)
  • You can start again and rewrite the draft again using different text not the same as any other web site. All except the first sentence seems to have been copied. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 01:11, 27 July 2015 (UTC)
  • CValrie, I'd also recommend that you read over Wikipedia's WP:NPOV policy, as well as the conflict of interest guidelines (since it looks like you're likely someone working for him). The other issue with the article other than copyright is that the article was also fairly promotional in tone, a common issue with articles that were taken from somewhere else. It's also fairly common for people with a conflict of interest to miss promotional tones because they're closely affiliated with the subject or they're part of a marketing crew that frequently uses promotional WP:BUZZWORDS in their daily work. • I've moved this to Draft:Bill You (powerlifter). It looks like there had been an earlier attempt at the article that had also been G13'd, so that was restored as well. I've reverted the article to that version since it contained more information, whereas the more recent edits only had an infobox. Tokyogirl79 (。◕‿◕。) 08:44, 27 July 2015 (UTC)

Draft:Ray Carr

I, 2602:306:3130:9520:6572:63F0:774F:8EE7, request the undeletion of this Articles for creation submission deleted under CSD G13. Please restore the page as I intend to work on it. 2602:306:3130:9520:6572:63F0:774F:8EE7 (talk) 08:38, 27 July 2015 (UTC)

  • I need to note that this was previously requested for restoration here. This still has some of the same issues with tone and sourcing that I brought up last time. Can you show some sort of in-depth coverage to prove that this person is notable? If not, then I'm not really sure what restoring this would really accomplish since it's been declined so many times already. Tokyogirl79 (。◕‿◕。) 08:49, 27 July 2015 (UTC)
  • Also, if this is restored it'd likely need to be edited to remove the puffery. There were several WP:PEACOCK phrases in there, not to mention several things that had no bearing on Carr as far as Wikipedia is concerned. For example, why is it important to note that one of his children is single and a rapper? That's fairly WP:INDISCRIMINATE information that makes the article seem more promotional and in so doing, makes Carr seem less likely to be notable. Tokyogirl79 (。◕‿◕。) 08:51, 27 July 2015 (UTC)

I wrote a draft for an article on Ray Carr - a local disc jockey, which was deleted in May WITHOUT NOTIFYING me in my e-mail. I have tried repeatedly to get advice on chat, and some help with rewrites, but, apparently, I never seem to get it good enough for Wikipedia to accept it. I'm told the man is "not notable", and I don't agree, and could add a lot more than is there now, if the page would be undeleted. I tried following the instructions on how to do this, and I don't know if it went through. Can someone PLEASE help me with this? I just want to get it DONE and PUBLISHED ALREADY. THANK YOU. Here is the code I used for my request: -CVActor1 (talk) 08:58, 27 July 2015 (UTC)

  • CVActor1, I'm merging this since it's the same request. My basic request here is that you show some sort of proof that things might turn out differently if we restored this again. This was declined several times by different editors and it contained a lot of promotional language. (Plus the amount of links on the article constitute WP:ELSPAM.) All I'm asking for is some sort of proof that there might be more coverage that would potentially change the outcome this time. I'm not saying no, I just want something to show that this time might be different. Tokyogirl79 (。◕‿◕。) 09:01, 27 July 2015 (UTC)
  • It also looks like you were notified about the page's deletion on your talk page. Normally this does send an alert to your mail, but sometimes e-mail accounts will put messages from Wikipedia in the junk folder and occasionally people will have outdated e-mail addresses linked to Wikipedia or may disable the "send e-mail alerts" function. Tokyogirl79 (。◕‿◕。) 09:07, 27 July 2015 (UTC)
  • Basically the concern about the article's sources was that they were all local ones, which are greatly depreciated on Wikipedia by many members. Several of the sources were also WP:PRIMARY, meaning that they were released by Carr or someone/something affiliated with him, and some like this one aren't even about Carr himself but are about one of his sons. These will not be able to show notability since it is within the best interests of Carr and places associated with him (like the YMCA) to write about him and notability cannot be inherited (WP:NOTINHERITED) by his children gaining coverage. Being a radio DJ does not automatically give him notability either and I'll note that this is actually very difficult for most DJs to accomplish in general since there are so many out there. It's also generally accepted that local radio personalities will host local events, so just being a host for something does not guarantee notability either. The only source that looked like it could be usable to help show notability was The Sun Newspapers article, which I'm going to assume is a local paper. There is the possibility that the article from the Plains Dealer could show notability, but just the title gives off the impression that the article was about an event and that if Carr is mentioned, it's only in passing. This would make it a WP:TRIVIAL source, which cannot show notability either. Tokyogirl79 (。◕‿◕。) 09:17, 27 July 2015 (UTC)

Amica International

Amica is an European brand of home appliances. All I added is a small piece of their history. That's nothing to do with promotion because I've seen many other companies like Beko, Electrolux, Bosch. I would like to know what was the reason to delete it?! Thank you! -JustWorking (talk) 21:12, 27 July 2015 (UTC)

Not done. @JustWorking: It read as promotional content in a number of ways. It spoke to the reader in the first person "we", "our", "us" and editorialized about the product in a glowing light ("...started to be trusted..." – says who just the facts, no gloss. More importantly, it was a copyright violation of Amica's website, copying and pasting its non-free copyrighted expression. We do not undelete copyright violations. For a proper article to be attempted, it would need to cite to reliable, secondary sources that are entirely unconnected with Amica, writing about it in detail. That article should be written by someone without a conflict of interest.--Fuhghettaboutit (talk) 21:38, 27 July 2015 (UTC)

World Cheerleading Championships

It's very important for young cheerleaders to explore the history of our World Championships. The USASF does not have a page dedicated to world champions past the year 2009, and this page had every single top 3 team from the beginning (2004), to the most recent (2015). — Preceding unsigned comment added by 65.78.126.240 (talkcontribs)

Article by this name was speedily deleted per author's request last week. No old AfC candidates found under this title--closest I could find is Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Cheerleading World Championship, which is decidedly not ready for mainspace. --Finngall talk 21:07, 29 July 2015 (UTC)
See also Talk:U.S. All Star Federation#World Cheerleading Championships. In short, the history still contains all of the content. It was forked to the above-linked, G7'ed page, and the content was thereupon removed from U.S. All Star Federation. However, the person who forked it apparently found that much of it was unverifiable and chock full of errors where verification was even possible, so the forked content article was deleted, and it was also not revived in the original article. Please note the requirements of WP:BURDEN. If this is to be returned to the article, having been challenged, it will require citations to reliable sources through inline citations that verify the information.--Fuhghettaboutit (talk) 21:46, 29 July 2015 (UTC)

I didn't realise there was a draft page already started (even though it's rather nonexistent), so it would be a good idea to work on that page and do it properly. Muktar Yahya Najee al-Warafi

Muktar Yahya Najee al-Warafi is in the news again. I am requesting userification. Al Warafi's lawyers have submitted multiple habeas petitions, that have triggered extensive third party commentary. In 2011 his lawyers pointed out that he had been serving the Taliban as a medic, and, as such, he should have never been classified as an "enemy combatant", since, as a noncombatant medic, he was not a combatant, by definition. (This claim was ultimately rejected because he couldn't prove he had been a fulltime medic.) In 2015, after a January 2015 announcement by President Obama that the USA's combat operations in Afghanistan were overed, his lawyers argued that the Geneva Conventions only authorized captor nations to detain individuals for the duration of hostilities. Daphne Lee Martin

I added a notable musician page, with a biographical history, including awards and reviews and no advertising at all, along with many references. Why is this being considered advertising? Many many bands have similar pages. Is there something I can do to make it better? — Preceding unsigned comment added by DameCalico (talkcontribs) 18:48, 30 July 2015 (UTC)

Note: This page was deleted under speedy deletion criterion G11, indicating an page that was irredeemably promotional or blatant advertising. Note that G11 deletions are more an issue with the tone of the page as opposed to its sources or formatting. As articles deleted under G11 need to be rewritten from scratch, they will not be undeleted here or anywhere else; try contacting the deleting administrator (NawlinWiki (talk · contribs)) in order to be emailed a copy of the article as it stood at time of deletion. It got deleted because the article itself reads like an advert and would need to be completely rewritten to remove the promotional tone. Sources have no bearing on a G11; tone is everything. —Jeremy v^_^v Bori! 20:30, 30 July 2015 (UTC)
Not done and will not be done. The article was written in a tone so promotional that it would need to be rewritten from scratch. From the lead paragraph that goes "Forever blending genres in the legacy of the great Tin Pan Alley songwriters, Daphne takes beloved traditional southern roots sounds and.... As always, the lyrics are fermented and distilled in a bathtub full of misfit Interbellum prose" — and it doesn't get any better. No way will promotional text like that be restored. Wikipedia is not a publicity platform.
You are free to try again, preferably going through Wikipedia:Articles for creation because it is clear you have a conflict of interest on this topic. ~Amatulić (talk) 20:37, 30 July 2015 (UTC)
I was quite surprised by what struck me as a tone of non-cooperation here. I went to refresh my memory as to the wording of WP:CSD#G11, and Wikipedia:What_Wikipedia_is_not#Wikipedia_is_not_a_soapbox_or_means_of_promotion. I don't see either wikidocument saying "As articles deleted under G11 need to be rewritten from scratch, they will not be undeleted here or anywhere else".

I then used our internal search engine, to search the entire wikipedia for this specific phrase @Jéské Couriano: used. It turned up 21 instances. The first was a template under Jéské Couriano's main user page. The other 20 instances are all places where User:Jéské Couriano used this template: 173, 174, 175,176, 178, 180, 181, 183,184, 185, 186, 187, 189, 190, 191, 192, 193, 194, 197.

Do either WP:CSD#G11 or Wikipedia:NOTFORPROMOTION require a complete rewrite from scratch? G11 says it should be applied to articles that require a "fundamental rewrite".

Who says "fundamental rewrite" is synonymous with a "complete rewrite from scratch"?

My understanding of the administrator's mandate is that administrator's actions are not, generally, supposed to be punitive, rather, they are supposed to be educational. Aren't even blocks supposed to be educational, a way of getting the attention of contributors who have ignored warnings that they have been making serious lapses from policy?

It seems to me that forcing someone to rewrite an article, from scratch, is punitive. They have to go and find references, all over again. @DameCalico: seems to be a newbie, and I think the responses here are lapses from WP:BITE. A newbie has to figure out, all over again, the templates we use for references, and how we format lists and tables. Unnecessarily making them learn all that, a second time, is deeply punitive.

In my opinion, there is no notable topic that can't be written from a neutral point of view.

I don't know User:DameCalico, User:Jéské Couriano or User:Amatulic, and I had never heard of Daphne Lee Martin. But I just googled her, and, if DameCalico is correct, and the deleted article did contain sufficient valid reference, I'll bet that the neutralizing bias-ectomy that a successful G11 requires is actually trivial.

I request userification, so I can test to see whether the neutralizing bias-ectomy is as trivial as I suspect. Geo Swan (talk) 13:34, 31 July 2015 (UTC)

@Geo Swan: Declining to restore an advertisement to main article space is not punitive. We don't tolerate ads, particularly when they are written by PR representatives whose objective is to promote rather than inform, as was the case here. WP:AFC is the proper venue, not main space.
Requesting userfication, on the other hand, is reasonable, and I am sure the deleting administrator NawlinWiki would agree. So I have restored it to User:Geo Swan/Daphne Lee Martin for you to examine, improve, move to draft space, and/or request deletion.

Church Street

The article at Church Street is currently a disambiguation page. That's appropriate. In 2006 the article there was about a particular Church Street, the one in Toronto. That was inappropriate. What should have happened is it should have been moved to Church Street (Toronto). In 2006 there was a flood of AFD of articles on Toronto streets, and this article on Church Street was deleted. Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Church Street.

On June 25th I left a request on the closing administrator's user talk page, asking for them to graft the revision history of the original now deelted article to the beginning of Church Street (Toronto). About a month later I left that administrator a reminder. They haven't yet replied. So, could a more helpful administrator graft the history from Church Street, deleted in 2006, and graft it to the beginning of Church Street (Toronto)?

IMO, Church Street (Toronto) was then and is now a notable street, one that I think measures up to GNG. But, I don't want to start from scratch. Given a version existed in 2006, I should be able to look at it, and use it as a start to preparing a new version which made the street's compliance with GNG undeniable.

Thanks! Geo Swan (talk) 04:34, 1 August 2015 (UTC) -Geo Swan (talk) 04:34, 1 August 2015 (UTC)

On a related note, is "I don't want this here" a valid PROD reason? Primefac (talk) 09:19, 30 July 2015 (UTC)
Any PROD reason is valid if the PROD remains for 7+ days. —Jeremy v^_^v Bori! 16:48, 30 July 2015 (UTC)
That's correct. And any request to restore an article deleted by PROD is also valid, under most circumstances. @Primefac: or @Ottawahitech: are you requesting restoration, or just asking a question? ~Amatulić (talk) 20:12, 30 July 2015 (UTC)
Amatulic, if the answer to my question had been "no" then I would be requesting a refund. However, if it's valid then I'm not particularly bothered. Primefac (talk) 20:14, 30 July 2015 (UTC)
@Primefac: To clarify, WP:IDONTLIKEIT (which is basically what this was), isn't a valid reason to delete any article, prod or otherwise. Bear in mind that an administrator isn't obligated to delete an article that's had a prod on it for 7 days. If this article had been well-sourced with evidence of notability, I would decline to delete it if the only reason given was "the subject doesn't want this article here".
However, in this case, the article had no references to coverage in independent reliable sources. It also didn't have any claim of significance, which might have qualified it for speedy deletion under WP:CSD#A7. Even if it had a claim of significance, I doubt it would have survived AFD. Therefore, I would have deleted this article if I had found it prodded for 7+ days, even if the reason given in this case was bogus. There would be more valid reasons to put in the prod tag. Likely, the deleting administrator reached the same conclusion.
Because it was deleted by PROD, I am happy to restore it, or move it to your user space for you to examine and improve, if you want. ~Amatulić (talk) 20:52, 30 July 2015 (UTC)
Ah, so it was a bit more of an WP:IAR than a proper PROD. Keeping it deleted is fine, I have too many not-notable articles to fix already. Thanks for the offer, though. Primefac (talk) 20:53, 30 July 2015 (UTC)
Please restore, and let someone take it to wp:AFD if they are so inclined. I do not do any work in anything sports related, but I happened to notice this wp:PROD and did not get a chance to save it before was deleted. It was contributed to by several (many?) editors over some years, and IIRC belonged to a couple of WikiProjects. The nominator did not notify the article creator of the nomination. There seem to be a very large number of other articles which linked to it:https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:WhatLinksHere/Sunshine_Coast_Football. Ottawahitech (talk) 12:57, 31 July 2015 (UTC)
