Today, after 4 month survival on wikipedia, my page having URL: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Suvigya_Sharma get deleted. It was really very shocking for me after reading "promotional material". Suvigya Sharma is my brother and he is renowned artist who got lots of national and international prize for his great artistic work. According to Wikipedia policy i had not put any promotional links instead i had kept links of renowned news channels in reference section which is supported by Wikipedia.

Even my page was patrolled by Wikipedia Team with green signal "Suvigya Sharma was patrolled by DragonflySixtyseven". It's not my intention to force you to change your decision after all you are senior authority of this prestigious online media. However as a user its my curiosity to know what is basic reason or where i lack.

I dare to post the short bio of my brother as i read several biography for renowned people. That's the main reason behind the publishing not for any promotion.

Thanks in Advance for your generous support. I am waiting for precious support which resolve my curiosity. -Atulkumar.1990 (talk) 16:46, 25 February 2015 (UTC)

Note: This page was deleted under speedy deletion criterion G11, indicating an page that was irredeemably promotional or blatant advertising. Note that G11 deletions are more an issue with the tone of the page as opposed to its sources or formatting. As articles deleted under G11 need to be rewritten from scratch, they will not be undeleted here or anywhere else; try contacting the deleting administrator (Yunshui (talk · contribs)) in order to be emailed a copy of the article as it stood at time of deletion. Please note that you should not be writing about a subject you are close to, and that all Wikipedia editors are volunteers, not paid staff (i.e. there is no formal "Wikipedia Team"). —Jeremy v^_^v Bori! 19:29, 25 February 2015 (UTC)
@Atulkumar.1990: The amount of time the article had stood (6 weeks, not 4 months for the record) is not relevant. It looks like you started the article in draft space and when it was declined you copied it to mainspace. That is within your "rights", but it does mean the relevant history is not 4 months and also means at least one user found it unacceptable as is. That said, I do rather disagree with Yunshui's conclusion that it was unambiguous advertising, but do agree that it was promotional. I am going to restore it and return it to draft space. Jeremy is correct that writing with a conflict of interest is highly discouraged. However, if you use the draft process whereby a third party provides input and ultimately moves it to mainspace if it meets the requirements, then a COI can be tolerated. --ThaddeusB (talk) 20:46, 25 February 2015 (UTC)

@Taccol: Please use Articles for Creation to create a draft and submit it, after you evaluate the subject against the inclusion guidelines. Unfortunately the article as written: Independent Elite Executive National Sales Director Emeritus Dalene White... ...led to a career filled with many successful moments and a legacy of leadership that has spanned 51 years read like a vanity bio and is therefore unacceptable for Wikipedia. because another person has mistakenly delete the content -Akchodvadiya (talk) 06:44, 26 February 2015 (UTC)

  •   Not done It looks like the content was not accidentally or mistakenly deleted, it was deleted per WP:A7 as an "Article about a company, corporation or organization, which does not credibly indicate the importance or significance of the subject". As such, it cannot be restored through REFUND and you will have to ask one of the deleting admins (Verrai and Deb) if they would restore the content. If they refuse, you will have to go through deletion review to seek restoration. Offhand I can see why it was deleted, as the article did not show how the company passed WP:CORP. It also somewhat comes across like you were trying to create a LinkedIn or CrunchBase type database entry, given the slight promotional phrasing and the links to all of the company's social media sites. I do have to warn you that we're WP:NOTLINKEDIN in that we cannot have an entry on every company, only the ones that pass notability guidelines. Tokyogirl79 (。◕‿◕。) 06:49, 26 February 2015 (UTC)

@JamesDearsley: I restored the page. It does need some editing for tone, but it was deleted under G13 (abandoned draft), not G11 (unambiguous advertising). In other words, it is fixable and doesn't require starting over. Please edit the draft to address the issues raised ASAP. --ThaddeusB (talk) 15:38, 26 February 2015 (UTC)

@Emptynow: - The page wasn't actually deleted (a previous version was under a different title), but was actually inappropriate (advert-like). I have moved it to draft space for you. You can now find it at Draft:Yilin Zhong. I'm afraid no one is going to do the cleanup work for you - you'll have to do itself. As a starting point: remove adjectives meant to compliment the subject, text that implies you should buy her works, and stick to what other sources have written about her, not your personal opinion. When you feel the article is ready, use the "submit your draft button" on the template at the top of the page and an experienced reviewer will take a look and either accept it or let you what need fixed. --ThaddeusB (talk) 15:57, 26 February 2015 (UTC)

@Tripple343:, the page cannot really be listed here. As it has not yet been deleted, you cannot request that it be restored. Also, if it is speedy deleted under WP:A7, the correct forum for apeall would be first taking it up with the administrator who did the speedy deletion and then adding it at Wikipedia:Deletion review. CardFlex,_Inc.

Thousands of companies have Wikipedia entries, and we created ours in the same format as these other entries. There is no marketing or promotional copy in the text - merely some basic history and background about what this company is and what it does. Please let us know specifically why we are not allowed the same privilege to be part of Wikipedia as the other companies now listed on the site. -71.170.193.227 (talk) 16:30, 26 February 2015 (UTC)

  • @71.170.193.227:, well the first problem is that you shouldn't be writing about your own company (see, WP:COI). I took a look at the article and arguably it didn't meet G11 (advertising), but it definitely did meet the other deletion reason, A7 (no indication of importance). CardFlex may be notable based on my search, but mostly because the FTC sued them. If you insist on creating an article, you can start over in draft space at Draft:CardFlex and submit it for review through the articles for creation process which reduces the problems with conflicts of interest by having a third party review the article for neutrality. However, any unbiased article on the company must cover the FTC lawsuit, so perhaps you would be better off not having an article. --ThaddeusB (talk) 16:53, 26 February 2015 (UTC)

  •   Done - as a contested proposed deletion, the article has been restored on request. I do have to warn you that notability is WP:NOTINHERITED by the company having worked with notable persons (it's generally assumed that firms of this nature will work with someone who is notable), so it's still entirely possible that the page may be nominated for deletion in other formats. The best way to prevent this from happening is to find sources that focus on the company and not on the people they've represented. Tokyogirl79 (。◕‿◕。) 02:56, 27 February 2015 (UTC)

Manchester Historic Association

Enter your reasoning here and then click the "Save page" button below -Dchauvette58 (talk) 16:09, 26 February 2015 (UTC) I was looking through a page that listed local historical societies in the US and noted that New Hampshire did not have any societies listed. Having worked at the Manchester Historic Association (MHA) before, I edited the page and included MHA in the list. When I searched for the MHA in Wikipedia I did not find any listing for it. I have created a page for the MHA so that when someone looks for it, they can find it. I intend to add the sidebars including name of director, website, etc. when I can figure out how to do it. I was attempting to figure out the process when i published the site.

I do not know of any references yet for the MHA that I could make. I liken the site to many that I have seen concerning say a local high school or college. It is my belief that at some point those who know more about the MHA will begin to edit and add. Let me know what I need to add to make the site acceptable and more importantly, add the specific links showing me how to do it and I'll be happy to comply.

Dave Chauvette

  •   Not done - the page was blank. There is no reason to keep a blank page around. If you or anyone else wants to write about MHA in the future, they can create the article at that time. --ThaddeusB (talk) 16:56, 26 February 2015 (UTC)
  • Dchauvette58: Actually the page wasn't blank and did contain content, but the issue was that it was a copyright violation of the official website. Please understand that we cannot accept copyrighted material at Wikipedia and in order to use the text you must file a ticket at WP:ORTS that gives us permission to use this material. However even if the MHA is willing to give permission the material would still need to be substantially re-written because of how it was written. Phrases like "Conscious that the achievements of its past leaders were becoming fast fading memories" do not fit the neutral point of view policy on Wikipedia and can be considered promotional. This is kind of the catch of using copyrighted material- in most cases the material was written in order to promote the topic on their/its own website and as such isn't considered to be appropriate for an encyclopedic entry.   Not done @PlastidipS: There are a number of problems here. First, the article declared it was aimed at helping users of Plasti Dips. That isn't what Wikipedia is for - this is an encylopedia, not a how to guide. Second, the article said where to buy the product - that will almost always be considering an attempt at advertising whether or not it was intended as such. Third, your username implies group ownership and will need to be changes. Finally, if you have a conflict of interest here, you should read WP:COI and strongly consider not proceeding. If you understand all of the above, I suggest you create a new draft article at Draft:Plasti Dip and use the articles for creation process to get input from experienced editors without the threat of rapid deletion. (I have verified the subject is likely notable; that is, it fulfills our requirements for inclusion.) See also WP:Your first article for straightforward advice about writing on Wikipedia. --ThaddeusB (talk) 20:09, 27 February 2015 (UTC)
@PlastidipS: The article's content was also a blatant copyright infringement of the product's website. If you do create another article, you must not copy and paste copyrighted text again (yes, this is true even if you own the copyright – because we would require you to release the text to the world under a suitably free copyright license or into the public domain, before it could be used here, even if it was text that was appropriate for pasting here, which it was not).--Fuhghettaboutit (talk) 20:25, 27 February 2015 (UTC)

@Dis Pater 24:   Not done - this article has not been restored because it does not appear to meet our guidelines for inclusion of articles about music. In general, Wikipedia considers a topic to be notable if there exist multiple reliable sources of information on the topic, external to the subject itself. Articles concerning musicians or music groups will be deleted on sight if they are considered to be unambiguous advertising or promotion, or if they do not contain a credible assertion of the significance of the subject.

As i have said i am new to this and i did not know exactly what i did wrong for it to be flagged for deletion, please let me know or help me. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Bbtran72 (talkcontribs) 16:58, 28 February 2015‎

@Bbtran72:   Not done. Please read, carefully, Wikipedia:Conflict of interest and the Wikipedia:Plain and simple conflict of interest guide. Note that you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's Terms of Use ("Paid contributions without disclosure" under section 4) to declare your interest in any edits where you have a COI, and should not edit directly but may submit a draft. Read WP:Your first article, WP:Notability and WP:Notability (organizations and companies for advice. JohnCD (talk) 17:10, 28 February 2015 (UTC)

National Forum for Biological Recording

The NFBR is the only organisation supporting biological recording in the UK and is referenced on the Biological Records Centre and National Biodiversity Network Wikipedia pages, but has no entry of its own, I was redressing this omission -Salticus (talk) 14:53, 28 February 2015 (UTC)

@Salticus:   Not done - this page was deleted in accordance with criterion for speedy deletion A7. If you believe that this decision was made in error, or that significant new information has come to light since the deletion, please contact the administrator who carried out the deletion, user Bbb23 (talk · contribs). If you have already done so, your concerns can be taken to deletion review.
Wikipedia's inclusion criterion is called Wikipedia:Notability, and is not a matter of opinion but needs to be demonstrated by references showing "significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject." JohnCD (talk) 17:21, 28 February 2015 (UTC)

Roundtop Mountain Resort

I'm presently typing up the history and contents in another window. Please do not delete. -Sam Krepps 12:26, 27 February 2015 (UTC)

@Saamhimself2: Hey Sam. This page is only for requesting undeletion, that is the restoration of article that have already been deleted; a request to not delete a page that exists but is tagged to be deleted has no place here. When you saw the speedy deletion template placed in the article, it had a button in the middle center that said "contest this speedy deletion" and linked to the article's talk page. That is where deletion should be contested and I see you actually used it. In any event, the speedy deletion was declined.--Fuhghettaboutit (talk) 14:22, 27 February 2015 (UTC)
This is a good opportunity to remind Flat Out and anyone else reading that it is not a good idea to tag articles with A3 within a few minutes of creation. Quite often, new users hit save to make sure it works and a quick tagging for deletion can discourage them finishing the article or even cause them to give up on Wikipedia entirely. There is no rush to delete a blank/near-blank page (it does no harm) - it is much better to wait for at least an hour of inactivity to make such a speedy nomination. --ThaddeusB (talk) 15:36, 27 February 2015 (UTC)
@ThaddeusB: I created {{Uw-hasty}} for informing patrollers. It doesn't get enough use so since you (like me) are concerned with this issue, I thought I'd let you know about it, if you weren't already aware. (We also have in our arsenal {{hasty}}, which I created for use when a page has been tagged but has not yet been deleted, and {{CSD5}} which is for when you are going to possibly fix the initial entry yourself.) Best regards--Fuhghettaboutit (talk) 18:40, 27 February 2015 (UTC)
I'm happy to take the feedback on hasty, equally we should be discouraging creation of articles with no content in mainspace. The article remains a mess. Flat Out let's discuss it 00:30, 1 March 2015 (UTC)

MASTER KUMAR

THE ARTICLE WAS DELETED BEFORE I COULD PROVIDE A REFERENCE TO HIS NATIONAL AWARD WINNING -Saisundarlatha (talk) 17:26, 27 February 2015 (UTC)

  • @Saisundarlatha: The page (Master Kumar) hasn't been deleted, only tagged for possible deletion. If you edit it now to include the award, it might not need to be deleted. --ThaddeusB (talk) 18:45, 27 February 2015 (UTC)
@Saisundarlatha:   Done - restored to Draft:Master Kumar where you can work on it. The only claim of WP:Notability seems to be as an actor, and I doubt whether he meets the requirements of WP:NACTOR. A lot of the gossipy personal material and promotional language needs to be cut - Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, not a social-networking or gossip site. Good referencing is required - see WP:Verifiability, summarised as "any material challenged or likely to be challenged must be attributed to a reliable, published source". JohnCD (talk) 15:19, 28 February 2015 (UTC)

Thanks a lot for doing that I have added both the References for winning a state award and National award, and yes sure I will try to maintain its quality removing unwanted materials and will provide references more to verify the claim of his acting. Can you provide me some days of time before doing that??? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Saisundarlatha (talkcontribs) 03:56, 1 March 2015 (UTC)

  • @Saisundarlatha:, the article is in the draft space, which is beneficial since it will give you more time to fix any issues and it'll also keep the article safe from most of the common reasons for deletion. Typically the only reasons that a draft article will be deleted is if the article has a copyright violation, is exceedingly promotional, or is abandoned for at least 6 months without any edits. Offhand what I can recommend is to avoid using terms like "super hit" and "illustrious" since those are considered to be WP:PEACOCK terms and are considered to be promotional in nature. It's not the type of thing that would get the article deleted in draftspace necessarily, but it will keep the article from getting approved at AfC. Tokyogirl79 (。◕‿◕。)

Not necessarily an undeletion request, but could someone look at the deleted history of this page and let me know what the license on the file was? Whoever moved the file to Commons gave it a GFDL license, but I suspect based on the uploader's other contribs that the license should have been {{PD-self}}. -Kelly hi! 12:31, 1 March 2015 (UTC)

@Kelly: You are correct. It was {{PD-user|Bedford}}, so it should have been transferred as a public domain release. Best regards--Fuhghettaboutit (talk) 14:53, 1 March 2015 (UTC)

Smart Games 1 (2008)

Hi I just found out the my article was deleted for lack references when I tried make a second page for it, I will happily add references for my article. I did not know about your policy and I hope it is not one problem about this. -Elijahmanning (talk) 15:31, 1 March 2015 (UTC)

  • This has also been speedied under Smart Games and Smart Games (2008), and there were also articles made for Smart Games 2 (2009), Smart Game 3 (2010), Smart Games 4 (2011), and Smart Game 5 (2012). I can't find anything to show that this event actually exists. The 2012 event supposedly had an attendance of 15,333 people. It's extremely unlikely that something with an attendance that large would have received absolutely no coverage and I'm inclined to believe that this is an attempt to perpetuate a hoax as well as an attempt to evade detection by opening up several different accounts since multiple accounts were opened to create various different versions of the articles. I'm sorry, but I'm going to have to block you for this. Tokyogirl79 (。◕‿◕。) 19:22, 1 March 2015 (UTC)

  • Metcalfep, this really comes across like you took it from an obituary or memorial page (meaning that it seems like it's WP:COPYVIO), as this is written in a very, very casual tone- almost to the point where it's a little promotional. Try to avoid phrases like "died before his time" and "short but eventful life". If you can vouch that this is not a copyright violation I'll restore it, but I'll be honest- you will have to completely re-write the article to meet WP:NPOV. Hi I just discovered this page was deleted when I logged in to update it - it was deleted for lack of references, I will gladly add references to the page as I was not aware this was a policy, I was just taking my time to update it properly. I hope this isn't a problem -Chowes46937 (talk) 15:03, 1 March 2015 (UTC)

Note: The article was deleted as the result of a biographical article proposed deletion ("sticky-prod"). Article deletions via sticky-prod will not be unilaterally overturned; reliable sources need to be provided in order to overturn the deletion. Please see WP:Notability (people) for our inclusion criteria with regards to people and WP:Identifying reliable sources for the kinds of sources needed in order to overturn the sticky-prod and create the article. —Jeremy v^_^v Bori! 19:30, 1 March 2015 (UTC)
  •   Done - as a contested proposed deletion, the article has been restored on request. Jeremy I suggest that you update your template, this sort of request will be honored, as the requester has offered to supply references. They cannot add references if there is no article. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 20:55, 1 March 2015 (UTC)
I was under the impression that a sticky-prod could not be contested or overturned without the source being provided first. Had they linked to or otherwise provided what they would have used as a source with their request I would not have used the template message. —Jeremy v^_^v Bori! 08:27, 2 March 2015 (UTC)
From policy:
The biography may be undeleted when an editor is prepared to add a reliable source. The undeletion can be requested through an administrator or at Wikipedia:Requests for undeletion. Upon restoration, the {{prod blp}} template should not be removed, but needs to be replaced or resubstituted to reset the expiration date. Where the request has not gone through requests for undeletion, the admin carrying out the undeletion is expected to check that a reliable source has been added.
In other words, the page is to be restored immediately and the requester given a new 7 days to add sources. --ThaddeusB (talk) 16:44, 2 March 2015 (UTC)
