British National (Overseas) is a class of British nationality that was granted by voluntary registration to British Dependent Territories citizens who were Hong Kong residents prior to the transfer of sovereignty to China on 1 July 1997. Individuals with this nationality are British nationals and Commonwealth citizens, but not British citizens. They are subject to immigration controls when entering the United Kingdom and do not have the automatic right of abode there or in Hong Kong, but all would have had permanent resident status in Hong Kong when they acquired this status. This nationality gives its holders favoured status when resident in the United Kingdom and confers eligibility to vote, obtain citizenship under a simplified process, and serve in public office or reserved government positions. About 169,000 individuals currently hold active British passports with this status and may request consular protection when travelling abroad, except in Hong Kong, mainland China, and Macau. - Support article is recently promoted and looks excellent, blurb within limits and on point. Also a bit different from the average TFA. Date appropriate. Peacemaker67 (click to talk to me) 09:30, 19 May 2019 (UTC)
- Support Looks good. Interesting and different. Not sure about the image copyright, as it is a 2010 passport. Hawkeye7 (discuss) 20:48, 20 May 2019 (UTC)
- Huh, I'm not sure about that copyright either. @Dank: pinging you since you suggested the blurb, if we can't use the passport cover, should we just use the UK flag instead? Horserice (talk) 02:20, 21 May 2019 (UTC)

- Obvious copyvio is obvious, flagged for speedy deletion on Commons. Since it includes the biometric passport logo, a scheme Britain only joined in 2006, it's obviously not from "before 1969" as claimed by the uploader. The UK government is absolutely unambiguous that passport designs remain in copyright and aren't covered by the Open Government Licence. ‑ Iridescent 22:44, 31 May 2019 (UTC)
- That's fine, just gonna use the UK flag instead. Horserice (talk) 01:59, 1 June 2019 (UTC)
