Afro Free Culture Crowdsourcing Wikimedia (AfroCROWD) is a new initiative which seeks to increase the number of people of African descent actively editing Wikipedia. Become a part of the Wikimedia and free knowledge, culture and software movements and help close the multicultural and gender gaps in Wikipedia. Visit us at AfroCROWD to find out more.

    • We have held monthly editathons in Brooklyn and Manhattan since February 2015 but this will be our first in Queens. Please spread the word to your friends and family there who may be interested.
    • Beginners welcome.
    • All languages welcome including English, Spanish, Haitian Creole, French, Yoruba and others. Wikipedia comes in 285 languages and you are welcome to edit it in any of them or translate from one language to another.
    • AfroCROWD will also provide FREE CHILDCARE during this special event.
    • Light refreshments will be available.
    • We have about 30 laptops available. So we don't run out, bring your own if you can or are driving. This is not a requirement.
  • Co-sponsor:
    • Haitian Creole Language Institute of New York which is offering a Haitian Creole class at the Queens Public Library this fall. See PDF, "Haitian Creole for Beginners."
