Greetings! Alan W. Pollack's "Notes On" series are not online anymore. This template is used for the links throughout Beatles' songs. What would be the best way to add an archived link, just ignore the template and add a link as such:

Alan W. Pollack's "Notes On" series: Archived 7 May 2020 at the Wayback Machine
replacing as it appears with the template? (Example)

Alphabetization in "[s]ee also" lists

edit

Could anyone please tell me if a "[s]ee also" list should always be alphabetized, is this not a rule at all, or are there exceptions?--Thylacine24 (talk) 02:56, 5 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Thylacine24: You can find the guidance at MOS:SEEALSO. If the list is lengthy, it should be sorted in a logical way, which may be alphabetical or chronological (as examples). If you have a question about the See Also section on a specific article, you can start a discussion on the talk page to get consensus. RudolfRed (talk) 03:25, 5 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@RudolfRed: I didn't notice that when I first visited MOS:SEEALSO. Sorry about that, and thanks.--Thylacine24 (talk) 12:11, 5 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Upload Image

edit

How to upload image here in Wikipedia? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Mikko Agustin (talkcontribs) 06:35, 5 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Mikko Agustin very shortly, if it's an image you have taken yourself and therefore own the copyright for, the process starts here:[1]. If it's a random image you found on the web somewhere, you very likely can't. More at WP:COPYRIGHT. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 08:25, 5 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Here is an example: "... at the University of Bologna , where he"

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vittorio_Sgarbi

There is no space in the code so the issue seems to be a problem with the rendering software. Wali omer (talk) 07:01, 5 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Wali omer: I see no space and there is no space in the produced html: at the <a href="/wiki/University_of_Bologna" title="University of Bologna">University of Bologna</a>, where he. What is your browser? Do you see the space at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vittorio_Sgarbi?safemode=1#Biography? Do you see it here: "at the University of Bologna, where he". PrimeHunter (talk) 08:31, 5 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@PrimeHunter: Thank you for your reply.

1. I use Chrome on a Chromebook with developer mode enabled. 2. Your safemode link seems to be OK. 3. The second link also is rendered without problem.

BTW, I have another problem on the Chromebook: the article previews do not show when hovering on a link. Wali omer (talk) 19:31, 5 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Wali omer: It sounds like it's Chrome doing it. Do you have a feature with justified text? If so, it will depend on the context and help explain why you don't see the same here even though I copied the code exactly. PrimeHunter (talk) 20:53, 5 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Citing a PDF correctly

edit

I'm making an edit to this article, Llanarth Court, but am struggling to correctly cite this PDF, [file:///C:/Users/Owner/AppData/Local/Microsoft/Windows/INetCache/IE/2IKT7K3T/Llanarth-CAA-Main-Body-mar15.pdf]. Any advice would be much appreciated. KJP1 (talk) 07:04, 5 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Sorted.KJP1 (talk) 07:08, 5 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@KJP1: Good you sorted it out. In case you don't know the problem with the above link, file:///C: is your own hard disk and cannot be seen by others. PrimeHunter (talk) 08:43, 5 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Many thanks. Actually, I didn't know as I'm a technical simpleton, but I'm quite good at copying! KJP1 (talk) 08:51, 5 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Two edits to Mägo de Oz were reverted because they included misplaced external links. If you intended those links to be references, please read Help:Referencing for beginners. --David Biddulph (talk) 18:41, 5 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

My translation is in Draft

edit

Hello,

I have made the translation from a french wikipedia page to an English one. As the English page now is in draft , I couldn't add on the title {{AFC submission|||ts=20200605102056|u=Gazze77a|ns=4}} : https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Domuni_University Could you please help me add it, so I can submit if for review ?

Thank you, --Gazze77a (talk) 10:20, 5 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Gazze771. I see that somebody has added the header so that you can submit. But please don't do so yet: it will certainly be declined, as it has no independent sources at all. Plese be aware and English Wikipedia has very little interest in what any subject says about themselves, and requires independent sources: please see WP:CITE. --ColinFine (talk) 13:20, 5 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Please also remove the misplaced external links from the body of the draft. If you intended them to be references, please read Help:Referencing for beginners. --David Biddulph (talk) 18:44, 5 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Ó ( O with brace)

How do i return a page that is deleted? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 79.106.209.182 (talk) 11:35, 5 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Depends on why it was deleted. WP:Deletion_policy#Deletion_review may help. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 11:47, 5 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Wikipedia already has an article Ó. Maybe 79's version was deleted as a duplicate. Maproom (talk) 12:00, 5 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Difference between versions of page

edit

An earlier version of User:Kappa/Kaaos is showing "this user page has been nominated for deletion", but the current version says "this redirect has been nominated for deletion". Yet the wiki source codes of the versions are exactly identical. What is causing this? JIP | Talk 12:33, 5 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

It was a redirect before the current version was saved.[2]. The information that it was a redirect was used by a template on saving and the rendering of the saved version was cached. I purged the page and it now says "This user page" since it's no longer a redirect. When you view a version in the page history, the cache is not used, not even if you view the most recent version [3] which already said "This user page" before my purge. Draft Page

edit

Hello - I submitted a draft page "Roger Lynch" (Draft:Roger Lynch) months ago and seem to be stuck in the review process. I've made the requested reviewer edits and yet it's just sitting there in draft still. How do we move this process forward so it's live on Wikipedia's site?

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Roger_Lynch — Preceding unsigned comment added by Cdanjmarn (talkcontribs) 13:40, 5 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Cdanjmarn You created a draft, but did not formally submit it for a review, nor do I see any indication it was reviewed by anyone. I will shortly add the appropriate information so you can do so. 331dot (talk) 13:43, 5 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Contributors of Hathras

edit

Sorry in advance if that comes out to be just my bad sceptical nature, but there is something strange about the majority of the contributors of Hathras. Majority of the contributirs don't have any user page and talk page yet. This means they are all very new. I've never seen so many new accounts working on a single page. What can it be? Lightbluerain (Talk | contribs) 18:24, 5 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Lightbluerain Could be a class of children who are editing Wikipedia for an "assignment" or something like that. If there's nothing wrong with the edits themselves, then it shouldn't be any issue. Joseph2302 (talk) 19:49, 5 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
[Edit Conflict] Lightbluerain, I don't know anything about these specific contributors, and won't speculate, but please be aware that quite a few contributors with accounts deliberately choose not to have a User page, and some don't choose to open a User account, at least initially. I myself have been active on Wikipedia for some 15 years, but for reasons partly of principal and partly of personal psychology have not (so far) created an account.
These modes of use do not violate any Wikipedia rules, so unless you see evidence of actual misuse, please Assume Good Faith. {The poster formerly known as 87.81.230.195} 2.125.72.102 (talk) 19:59, 5 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Okay. Thanks. Lightbluerain (Talk | contribs) 17:16, 6 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Thumbnail images aren't display automatically

edit

The thumbnail images aren't working as soon as I reload them instead they say "Tap to view the image". It seems server problem from web host. What's the issue? 197.156.107.211 (talk) 20:51, 5 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

IP 197.156.107.211 I can't see from your edit history what you are working on. Can you provide a link to the image(s)? TimTempleton (talk) (cont) 22:22, 5 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Page history summaries and differences font

edit

The change summaries don't appear in the page history when viewing the history on a mobile device in desktop mode. How can I make them appear? How can I view the change summaries on a mobile device? In addition the font used for the difference view changed to a hard to read font. How can I specify the font to use for the differences? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2600:1000:B050:C64:717A:C49B:6FFB:1A6A (talk) 22:28, 5 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

It looks fine on my iPhone. You might ask at Wikipedia:Village pump (technical) but provide specific links. TimTempleton (talk) (cont) 22:43, 5 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
