Ways to improve Convent of Santo António da Cidade

Hi, I'm Mabalu. Zeorymer, thanks for creating Convent of Santo António da Cidade!

I've just tagged the page, using our page curation tools, as having some issues to fix. Nice article, would it be possible to cite all those additional sources listed below the single cited source?

The tags can be removed by you or another editor once the issues they mention are addressed. If you have questions, you can leave a comment on my talk page. Or, for more editing help, talk to the volunteers at the Teahouse.

Disambiguation link notification for March 29

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Our Lady of Help Bridge, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Manuel of Portugal. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Infobox free_type entries

Hi Zeorymer

I tracked down the entry point of "municipal holidays" in Linbon to this edit of yours, so I guess you would be able to help me. I am trying to use it in a number of other infoboxes, but no matter what I try, once I hit "Show preview" there is nothing. I even tried including the whole thing from "" to "| free3 =", but nothing. What am I doing wrong? Thanks for your help. Regards, Rui ''Gabriel'' Correia (talk) 18:05, 2 April 2017 (UTC)

Thanks, Zeorymer. I saw the information about the municipal holiday hanging loose in the intro in a number of articles, whereas others such as Lisbon and Porto have the information in the Geo/Infobox. So I tried to do the same with Vila Viçosa, Loulé and others to move the information from the intro into the box following what you did with Lisbon, but had no luck — nothing worked. Hi Zeorymer. I saw that you replaced {{infobox religious building}} in Kadoorie Synagogue by {{geobox}}. WikiProject Architecture specifically says to use an infobox and not a geobox. Could you please stick to {{infobox religious building}}? Thanks. --HyperGaruda (talk) 15:23, 7 May 2017 (UTC)

Convent of Nossa Senhora da Conceição (Angra do Heroísmo):

Hi Zoerymer,

Thanks for your contributions, and especially some of your translations from Portuguese, which I've noticed are quite good. I've been helping out with assessing some of the formerly machine-translated articles created by people using the ContentTranslation tool (not mostly from Portuguese, but some of them are); some of these articles might get deleted under speedy deletion criterion X2, and I was just looking at Convent of Nossa Senhora da Conceição (Angra do Heroísmo). This is certainly much better than it was at the beginning, and I see you added the Infobox and also patched up the History section a bit, but there are still rough patches left over from the original machine translation that makes it subject to a possible X2 delete. Do you think you could either fix up the translation (especially that dodgy quotation), or if you don't have time right now, just move the article into your user draft space, where it's not subject to deletion, and you can work on it at your leisure, and then move it back to main (article) space whenever you're done with it. Thanks, Mathglot (talk) 06:24, 11 May 2017 (UTC)

Hello Mathglot. Yes, I will be happy to review and edit the article later today. ruben jc ZEORYMER (talk) 07:41, 11 May 2017 (UTC) reply moved here to keep discussion intact; Mathglot (talk) 08:12, 11 May 2017 (UTC)
Great, thanks! There are a few other articles in our list with sketchy pt->en translations that need work in order to save them. If you think you might be interested, I could give you some article links, just let me know. (Please reply below if interested.)
Also, I see you're interested in all things Azorean; I wonder if you know anything about the music, because I don't. OTOH, I'm a huge fan of Cabo Verdean music, it's one of my favorites. Sort of that bluesy + calypsoish island feel, a mix of up and down, longing, achey to get back, but upbeat and bouncy too; a unique combo. Saudade, and upbeat rhythm, all mixed together. The C.V. dialect is *really* hard for me to follow, and I'm told is even quite opaque for Portugal Portuguese speakers. My favorite song is Tradiçao by Gabriela Mendes. if you wan to try it with no captions, here's "Tradiçao" in CV dialect. Here it is with bilingual captions, and here's Gabriela singing "Tradition" in French. Enjoy! Mathglot (talk) 08:39, 11 May 2017 (UTC)
Hmmmm. I would be happy to improve the PT to EN language issues and would be interested in seeing your list. But, I should note, that I have a tendancy to refrain from editing or content development outside of Portugal and the Azores (as it is easier to discover and improve content using verifiable sources located in my region). BTW, I have copyedited and added new references to the convent article. Feel free to critique. ruben jc ZEORYMER (talk) 09:20, 12 May 2017 (UTC)
That's much better, thanks. Okay, I won't trouble you with articles outside pt/azores. Here's one: Fajã de Lopo Vaz: can you see if the translation looks accurate to you? Here are a few more, with the same question: are they accurate, as far as being a faithful translation of the original? We're not talking about the quality of the English: pretty much any editor can fix that; what we're interested in, is whether you think the translation accurately and faithfully portrays what the original is saying, not whether it's true, notable or sourced. For example, if the Portuguese article says, "Paris é a capital de Portugal," and the English translation says, "Paris is the capital of Portugal," then that rates 100% on the translation scale, because the original was faithfully translated. Based on that, can you have a look at these Portugal-related articles, and see what you think of their translation quality, as far as faithfully rendering the original into English?
  1. Church of São João Evangelista (Aveiro)
  2. José Vieira Alvernaz
  3. Mateus de Oliveira Xavier
  4. Joaquim José Machado
  5. José Ferreira Bossa
You don't have to fix them (unless you want to), mostly just looking for your opinion on the quality of the translation as it is now. Thanks! Mathglot (talk) 09:05, 13 May 2017 (UTC)

Please review CXT/PTR list for your articles

Hi Zeorymer,

Can you search a list of 3,602 articles for any ones created by you by translating them from Portuguese? The list at WP:CXT/PTR is the result of a nearly year-long project to rescue good articles from a bunch of junk created by people using automatic translation programs. For example, here's one of your good articles:

  1. Aires_Pinto_de_Sousa_Coutinho - with some comments appended here...

Pretty soon, we're going to scan the whole list, and delete all the ones not marked to be saved. Notice that your example is in strikeout type; that's a good thing: that means when we go through the list to delete all the junk, this one won't get deleted, because strikeout type is an indicator to save it.

If you could please go through the list and give me the numbers of all the articles that are yours, I will make sure they get marked. The ones I know about already, are these: 479, 480, 483, 487, 492, 499, 505, 525, 533, 546, 618, and 648. Can you please tell me if there's anything else on that list that is yours? Ping me here. Thanks, Mathglot (talk) 02:02, 5 June 2017 (UTC)

Apart from the ones already identified, you should add 517: one of my lapses. I will begin to re-evaluate the ones already identified and improve the content. Regardless, I have rechecked the list and have not found any other articles created by myself within the scope of this review.ruben jc ZEORYMER (talk) 11:01, 5 June 2017 (UTC)
Took care of 517; thanks! Mathglot (talk) 09:51, 7 June 2017 (UTC)

Lajes das Flores

May want to have a look at MOS:SANDWICH. This type of removal is standard, especially since on smaller non-wide-screen monitors, you end up with about an inch of text with about three words per line, that goes on for about a page and a half. TimothyJosephWood 19:01, 8 June 2017 (UTC)

Ways to improve Convent of São Francisco (Estremoz)

Hi, I'm Boleyn. Zeorymer, thanks for creating Convent of São Francisco (Estremoz)!

I've just tagged the page, using our page curation tools, as having some issues to fix. Please WP:INLINECITE all sources. It's very difficult for anyone other than the creator to be able to do this, and as others add to the article, it could get very confused. We want to make it as easy as possible for readers to use this article for research. Thanks for creating this detailed article.

The tags can be removed by you or another editor once the issues they mention are addressed. If you have questions, you can leave a comment on my talk page. Or, for more editing help, talk to the volunteers at the Teahouse.
