Advertising in sandboxes

edit

Hi, I have come across some advertising in a user’s sandbox (i.e. something that would be eligible for speedy deletion criterion G11) whilst looking through recent changes. As this is a sandbox, should I just leave it alone, or should something be done with it? It is at [1]. Thanks! Yellowleaf23 (talk) 11:08, 6 August 2020 (UTC) (UTC)Reply

Hi @Yellowleaf23! When looking at that sandbox, the first thing that hits me is that this user's username appears to breach Wikipedia's username policy - specifically the rules on "usernames that unambiguously represent the name of a company, group, institution or product"; and "usernames implying shared use". I will leave a note at Wikipedia:Usernames for administrator attention about their username. In terms of your question about speedy deletion, I think you'd be more than welcome to put a {{db-g11}} or {{db-spamuser}} deletion tag on the page - as the company doesn't appear to be notable enough for its own article; and especially given the user's username, it appears they are writing an article about their own company - against Wikipedia's conflict of interest policy. If you need any more help, you can click this link to ask a question, or just leave a message on my talk page. Thanks! Seagull123 Φ 11:19, 6 August 2020 (UTC)Reply

Complaint

Why did you remove my edits? Did I made any unjustifiable statement that violates the wikipedia policies? Why are you guys always trying to tarnish our effort toward improving the existing articles? I made the change and included the references while you delete it. Besides, its on people which I know them far more better than you since I went to their settlements and made all possible research about them. Is that how you want us to be contributing while all our efforts are going in vain? This is not right!

Sorry, you removed a lot of content from the article without giving a reason, so I must have added it back in. If you want to take that content out, you can do so again, and I suggest you use the edit summary to show why you wish to remove the content. Best wishes Yellowleaf23 (talk) 07:13, 7 August 2020 (UTC)Reply
