Revision of comment with thanks edit

I have already responded to a few questions like those above about original research to a distinguished fellow of Wikipedia (rephrased): 'My work is not original or core research per-say; it does not go-beyond Wallace's original research in empirical [linguistic] terms, but epistemically (of dialogue) it bridges the gaps of shorthand, of placing thoroughly debated inter and cross-disciplinary science material for general readership perspectives (and in terms of emergent principles of dialectics. I have edited the material as if in comprehensive common language. it should be clear that proper 3rd-person protocols are needed for such a project 'modelled after the Human Genome. I would also appreciate it if there were then, people to help with reformulating the outlines contributed. It (it is not 'novel material').--92.23.33.118 (talk) 21:35, 1 September 2015 (UTC)Reply

Again, I find myself struggling through your strange use of English to try to understand what it is you are asking. I believe you are asking my to explain what parts of the above paragraph I'm having trouble understanding, and so that is the question I will answer. You write:

It does not go beyond Wallace's original research in empirical [linguistic] terms...
I have no idea what that means. I don't know what you refer to when you talk about "empirical terms". This may reflect a lack of knowledge on my part about the subject matter, but other editors can't help you if they can't understand you. You continue:
...but epistemically (of dialogue) it bridges the gaps of shorthand...
Again, what? The word epistemically means "in a manner that pertains to knowledge", but I have no idea how that fits into the sentence you've written.
Your writing is full of this type of jargon that may or may not be used correctly. But if you want to convey meaning to a general audience, don't use jargon. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 21:44, 1 September 2015 (UTC)Reply

O.K. You are right on some things, thank you. But what about the way the bio is proceeding and my comments on it, these are not ambiguous are they? And I should listen to you on whatever you say. No, we do not usually talk of 'empirical' with regard to linguistics, but it is also a part of science in compare to what was on this page for so long in the analysis!

Pertinent to the outlines being discussed edit

Piet Hut (distinguished astrophysicist), is also a practitioner and mentor of quintessential aspects of the 'mindfulness introspective': emergent higher conjoined scientific research on mindulness. These are new phrases in my discussion that facilitate deeper reflection, and are terms of simplicity from the complex. I also refer here to MB Menski's terms mentioned in my provided essays; he mentions Zen aspects in consciousness studies that Wallace calls quintessential (you may be familiar with their mutual consultations in one of Wallace;s publications); that are the generic aspects of the 'mindfulness introspective' for science. WIthout contention these are pan-Asian aspects of origin and originate from Sanskrit beginnings in contiguous research. Such contemporary research on the well-founded and formulated 'phenomenological method' is also part of this, so Wallace being a master of Sanskrit (the very well-defined basis for parts of Asian culture), with all its other correlations deemed it so he became a master of Himalayan language in correlation to the others. A Science Master of the ISP DynEq projects would be a demystified title among others (not really needing a source for a general expression), for our attitudinal discipline on those pages to respect that magnitude. Regards, thank you for patience--DynEqMin (talk) 22:29, 1 September 2015 (UTC)--DynEqMin (talk) 01:57, 4 September 2015 (UTC)Reply

Reply to an old question edit

You were asking about language I use, these discussions are very technical and about dogmatic matters. You have not even included the original question but are quoting out of context. Anyway, the following is toward what is a coherent answer.--DynEqMin (talk) 10:15, 4 September 2015 (UTC)Reply

It does not go beyond Wallace's original research in empirical [linguistic] terms… and "empirical terms": First this commences with the way of discussion (in linguistic science), then their are deeper more meaningful levels of its meaning, they call that epistemic. ...but epistemically (of dialogue) it bridges the gaps of shorthand… This referred to Wallace's shorthand narration during his intensive research sessions online, that means just that, for a gen. audience. — Preceding unsigned comment added by DynEqMin (talkcontribs) 13:27, 2 September 2015 (UTC)Reply

Harry French edit

Hello, Harry French Hall has a lot of history, the very man it is named after was a very influential engineer throughout the war, and the hall has maintained his legacy. What do you not like about the content? — Preceding unsigned comment added by JFar80 (talkcontribs) 15:50, 2 September 2015 (UTC)Reply

@JFar80: The fact that the hall was named after a famous person does not make the hall significant, it makes the man significant. The hall itself is just another dorm at a college, and per Wikipedia common consensus, such buildings are not deemed notable enough to merit a separate article unless there is something historically or architecturally significant about them. There is nothing significant about this dorm. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 15:55, 2 September 2015 (UTC)Reply

I have unreviewed a page you curated edit

Hi, I'm Umais Bin Sajjad. I wanted to let you know that I saw the page you reviewed, Ibrahim Kabiruddin, and have un-reviewed it again. If you have any questions, please ask them on my talk page. Thank you. Umais Bin Sajjad (talk) 18:00, 5 September 2015 (UTC)Reply

@Umais Bin Sajjad: I'm not sure why you bothered "unreviewing" it. Twinkle automatically marks it as reviewed as part of the AFD nomination process. Once it is under AFD review, there shouldn't be any further need to for new page reviewers to be specifically concerned. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 21:36, 5 September 2015 (UTC)Reply

Waffle edit

What part of my POV do you not understand, this is a discussion is it not? Again this is divisive, and coming on about English again. Wow! --DynEqMin (talk) 14:23, 16 September 2015 (UTC)Reply

@DynEqMin: You tagged B. Alan Wallace with two {{POV-statement}} tags. The statements in question are:
  • A former Bhuddist monk,...
  • His work has focused on the relationships between science and Eastern philosophy.
What about those statements do you find non-neutral? Is it untrue that he is a former Bhuddist monk? Is it untrue that his work has focused on the relationships between science and Eastern philosophy? Do these statements somehow paint a bad picture of Wallace? As for my comments about your English, they come about because you continue to write in a manner that is not understandable by the general public. I am a well-educated (Master's Degree) native English speaker who takes some pride in my command of English, and yet I find myself often completely confounded by the text you write. Write plainly and concisely, and your arguments will be better understood, and possibly even accepted. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 14:44, 16 September 2015 (UTC)Reply

Hello! edit

Hey!

I just stumbled across that dreadful article that was on the edge of being deleted,[1] but eventually managed to stay. Just wanted to tell, that the maker ("Ali1872") is still adding totally nonsensical stuff to it like the day the article was made. I removed those loads of hoax again and added cn tags to everything else, but he's simply reinstating the exact same total nonsense with the same sock ("Zehnaseeb") he opted for the article not to be deleted, as well as the Ali1872 one. (did you realize back then as well that he was using socks to support his comments?)

Let me know if you have anything to tell about it. Please check the revision history, as well as on the deletion page I linked above. I already strongly opted for it to be deleted when it was created, as it's just one of the many things it attracts, but oh well... :/

Bests :-) - LouisAragon (talk) 19:39, 16 September 2015 (UTC)Reply

@Louis Aragon: I was somewhat surprised when that article passed AFD, and more than a little upset that it passed largely with comments like "clearly notable but the article needs much work" but then no one who thought it should be kept took the time to actually improve it. I've had in the back of my mind an effort to completely rewrite the article, based on available sources, but that would take hours and I haven't had a block of hours yet to address it. If you can make any sense of it, I welcome the effort. As for the primary author, that may be problematic, as I suspect that he may be related and is writing what amounts to a hagiography of his beloved ancestor. Thank you edit

Thank you for help. I work slow because this this my first article here and I'm not familiar with way of working here. Till now I only editing page that already exist on wikipedia, and this is my first full article here, so I need time to see how to insert citation, make page and so on. Also to make page on serbian etc. Your translation is good, thank you, only few minors translation terminological mistakes (like journals not magazins). Also, Serbian script is latin and cyrilic script, we write in both (so i start in serbian language latin script because in life I use much more this script everyday than cyrillic). Wikipedia do not recognize that and take it like Bosnian, and i did not write on Bosnian my first version, but thank you anyway in help. I will make citation till the end of this day, only to go in this all:) I supposed when i make notes that this page will not be deleted? Thank you. All best. Sorry for my "clumsy" writting english. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Deuslunus13 (talkcontribs) 12:51, 17 September 2015 (UTC)Reply

@Deuslunus13: You're welcome for the help. I understand that editing at Wikipedia can be somewhat confusing. I assumed your text was in Bosnian, because when I ran it through Google translate, that is the language that was detected (and Google did a pretty good job at translating it, I only had to clean up a few points). I guess Bosnian and Serbian are close enough in that sense. In any case, you should write in English at the English Wikipedia. If you wish to create an article in Serbian, you should go to the Serbian Wikipedia. For now, your article is safe for 7 days. Take that time to read Help:Citing sources to learn how to add the needed citations. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 13:14, 17 September 2015 (UTC)Reply

Wallace edit

I was actually just putting in the bit for the institute reference as you did (edit conflicted) it seems the revision from the 5th sep was both more neutral and easier/more encyclopedic to read so I am mostly restoring that after pruning the previous stuff. If you give me ten mins it should be at a better state. Only in death does duty end (talk) 10:45, 23 September 2015 (UTC) Okay done now. That was a terrible biography. I am surprised it survived AFD given the sources. Also I have done a medium (quite a few pages into google) search on some of the terms used and cant find any definition of them, let alone general use. 'Vocational Confluence' being the most obtuse one. So I have removed them. It should at least be readable to a layperson now Only in death does duty end (talk) 10:56, 23 September 2015 (UTC)Reply

As above: Some words I used were not exact, but under the circumstances of abusive non-cooperation by editors in the style previously on the Talk pages harping on about nothing at all, thanks for that delete, but it was abuse not to discuss this with me. I have left the replies to WikiDan61's Disruptive editing section. Please let the other editors know of this.--DynEqMin (talk) 11:39, 23 September 2015 (UTC)Reply

Could you say what you meant by deleting an entry called 'Vocational confluence'. Was that describing the link I gave on the Wallace web page. This is all I can think of, and that would mean 'vocational support network'; and so you what, where, and for what reason then?--DynEqMin (talk) 16:41, 25 September 2015 (UTC)Reply

@DynEqMin: If you mean this edit wherein I deleted an external link to http://www.SciCVN.org/, I did so because Wikipedia has a policy about which external links should be included in an article (see WP:EL), and this link did not meet these guidelines because it said nothing at all about Wallace, but appeared to be a website for an organization that may or may not be based on Wallace's work. The fact that the website bears the same signature writing style as all of your posts here leads me to believe that the website may be yours, in which case posting it in the article could be seen as self-promotion. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 17:40, 25 September 2015 (UTC)Reply

These personal aspects aside (and this was a first thing of notice from your colleagues guidelines. If this is true then derogatory talk so far has bee at all valid and in denial), there is no meaning at all in saying the model says nothing: the outlines are of a community of sense-making science. Why philosophise endlessly on the dogma of any guidelines if they are to have functionality. Agreed, we need to have respect for all of these, and what has been pertinent to the author. Stated is the fact of not intending to be 'formulaic'. It is a communal model and therefor 'yours' as anyones, and it is much appreciated if the secular aspects be clarified by some participation, whilst not acting as if the 'mindfulness introspective' is something about endless shame (it concerns the profound reality of all concern). The very nature of that model is not self-promotion; a proven science by validity of its many branch qualifications, especially through an evolved public language should require no change accept to accentuate its simplicity. Thank you for bringing these preliminaries to attention, that can update that site. In these ways forward, it would be possible with some technical help from all concerned to have a sandbox page on it so that superfluous qualms as FAQ's from all sides can be clarified. How much sense does this make? By the way, the two documents we have on the talk page have now been placed on the website, but it seems that codes have been entered into them whereby by the browser now crashes each time changes are made. Is this because somehow Wikipedia has somehow taken them over in some 'religiously dogmatic' way. Notice, there are no personal remarks here, and I expect these reflections to be observed, otherwise let others more competent participate in this process with its serious considerations that have not at all been observed by prior and present editing. Is this plain enough English because the reason why a lot of responses from DynEqMin sound gibberish is because of that collection of past error. Why should we not feel an empathy for all these concerns, and not endeavour to see these as alien. Anyway, well done for removing those previous remarks. Yes, it is also benefitial that some of these reflections can be records on that communal site so all legitimate concerns evolve. I gave prime reasoning what this all does not concern 'Eastern philosophy',; lets listen to each other from now on and thanks for this precious opportunity to dialogue.--DynEqMin (talk) 23:52, 25 September 2015 (UTC)--DynEqMin (talk) 00:08, 26 September 2015 (UTC)Reply

@DynEqMin: You have written something called word salad: lots of words, no meaning. If, with all of these words, you are complaining that I did not explain to you why the link was deleted, then your complaint is in error. I explained the reason in the edit summary when I deleted the link, making reference by linking to WP:EL. It is then your job to follow that link to read up on the policy in question. This is not a demand to answer all these questions in one but to have some patience to further, friend. There was mention of an analysis of the SciCVN writing and PhD level. Kyle L Lawson edit

Didn't know the process new to this webpage. Apologies for deleting the deletion discussion. The Kyle L Lawson page is growing there is a lot of information not yet cited. Lawson is in a history book for his military service that has not yet been added. However the census count for G.A. Is currently inaccurate and being updated the town is much bigger now and growing. Also it's a town dedicated to historical preservation of western legendsand a huge part of this history is the current administration and the growth and development being made to the community the protection and preservation of the town. Also articles cited are not just local but state articles and there are a few not up yet on a national level. Kylellee86 (talk) 23:33, 29 September 2015 (UTC)Reply

As in all cases, the basic guideline is general notability. You must demonstrate that Lawson has been the subject of significant coverage in multiple sources. In the case of politicians, such coverage is generally not available for small town mayors. Coverage that is limited to the local newspapers covering local events is not considered significant in this case. If the Gene Autry museum were itself notable, Lawson might merit mention in an article about it, but I do not believe he merits his own article. You are free to post an opinion at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Kyle L Lawson, of course. But if you are Mr. Lawson, you really should not be writing about yourself. Thanks for your time and help. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Xenith711 (talkcontribs) 16:43, 16 October 2015 (UTC)Reply

@Xenith711: The article was not deleted "without reason". The reasons were spelled out at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Cloudcade. I don't have access to the deleted article, but based on my comments at the discussion, the article and its sources failed to indicate the criteria for inclusion for companies. Wikipedia is not a business directory: it doesn't include entries for every business that wants one. Rather, a business must have been the subject of multiple instances of independent and significant coverage. Press releases published by the organization, mere mentions in passing or listings in "top xx companies", etc., are not considered valid sources. The article was deleted again today because the submission was substantially similar to the article that was deleted in October 2014.
Regardless of the reasons for deletion, I cannot restore the article, as I am not an administrator. You can file a request at Deletion Review

Slava Ostap COI edit

Didn't reply to this one because I wasn't sure - but isn't a general appeal for fans to edit Wikipedia okay, under COI guidelines? We'd obviously frown on "hi fans, please post the exact following article text to Wikipedia because I'm not allowed to", but a general announcement of "my Wikipedia page needs creating/expanding, please help out" would be okay, wouldn't it? --McGeddon (talk) 11:29, 29 October 2015 (UTC)Reply

@McGeddon: It strikes me as inappropriate to request your fans (who are likely not neutral observers) to create your page. Admittedly, practically every artist/band page on Wikipedia that wasn't started by the subject themselves was probably started by a fan, but to make an outright request for that type of help just doesn't seem kosher. As it turns out, I am a very accomplished amateur singer (although perhaps not with your impressive resume) and I also understand that breath support is fundamental to singing. But I also understand that Wikipedia is not a how-to guide so we don't need instructional material on how to properly support breath for singing. And I also understand that content forking (the creation of new articles that cover material already included elsewhere in Wikipedia) is discouraged. As I mentioned on your talk page, you are free to expand the existing article on singing with any useful material you have that is not already covered there, keeping in mind the policies that I have pointed out here. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 17:49, 9 November 2015 (UTC)Reply

Hah. You know nothing! NOTHING. It not about BREATH support. You should try to sing right ONCE and then argue. 17.5 years. Pro. + 6 years of University Glinka's in Moscow. Restore, please. Or I would make a complain. Please. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Pleasetranslatemyarticleproperlyit'sveryimportantPLEASE (talkcontribs) 17:51, 9 November 2015 (UTC)Reply

Notability edit

Hi Wikidan, got your message for deletion for film "200 American". I chose to convert it in to article as the film was showing as red link in List of LGBT films. I understood the notability criteria of the film to be converted in to article. I would want to know, in such cases where film does not qualify notability criteria, will it be left as Red Link for ever in "list of" type of articles and in articles pertaining to the directors or persons associated with the film.

I generally understand that the red links are un desirable and should be avoided. In such cases what shall we do? remove the link brackets and convert it to normal text with out link, or shall we leave them as red links.

Thanks.

--Gboyindia (talk) 16:58, 11 November 2015 (UTC)Reply

@Gboyindia: If the film is truly non-notable, then it should probably be deleted from the list, as such lists are generally constrained to contain only notable members of the category. (See WP:CSC.) WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 18:08, 11 November 2015 (UTC)Reply
@WikiDan61, Thanks you for your response,
If we remove it from the list, than the piece of art (The film here in this case) would lose its existence in future time to come. Wont that be loss to the future generations? I have found out and further added information about critics reviews, can we now remove deletion tag? --Gboyindia (talk) 08:59, 12 November 2015 (UTC)Reply
If Wikipedia is the only record of this piece of art available to future generations, then the film clearly does not meet our notability criteria. Wikipedia is not intended to be an indiscriminate list of everything that ever existed. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 12:39, 12 November 2015 (UTC)Reply

New Page Patrol edit

Hiya there! I recently started doing New Page Patrol, in my quest to find ways to contribute to Wikipedia. I've made a few mistakes so far, but mostly I think I'm doing okay. If you see me screw up, please let me know what I did wrong so I can self-correct! My biggest obstacle so far is choosing the correct CSD category. I also have to remind myself to not be heavy-handed with the delete button, and to wait a few minutes to see if the user fixes stuff. What are you criterion for CSD'ing a new page? If it's a blatant copy of a copyrighted website, I don't hesitate to CSD for copyvio. But in other cases, where the page is just one or two words, what category does it fall under? Vandalism? I've run across a few of those and was a little stuck. Thanks! Hope to see you around :) Air Combat What'sup, dog? 21:10, 12 November 2015 (UTC)Reply

For example, I just CSD'd Kyran Ford as not showing significance -- was that correct? Air Combat What'sup, dog? 21:11, 12 November 2015 (UTC)Reply
@AirCombat: Yes, that looks like a good call. For a short article like that, I generally wait at least 15 minutes after the article has been created to allow the creator time to say more than just the initial sentence. Short articles like this can either be problematic due to lack of demonstrated significance ({{db-person}}, {{db-org}}, {{db-event}}, {{db-band}}, etc) or because they are just too short to know what the article is about ({{db-context}}) or they say nothing at all ({{db-nocontent}}). WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 21:21, 12 November 2015 (UTC)Reply
Awesome, thanks for the feedback. Is it better to manually add the specific tag, like {{db-band}}, or should I continue to use the page patrol toolbar, which inserts the more generic ones? Air Combat What'sup, dog? 21:25, 12 November 2015 (UTC)Reply
@AirCombat: I use Twinkle, which automates the process and allows you to select from the various deletion criteria. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 21:43, 12 November 2015 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion of Great American Canyon Band edit

Hi there. I'm trying to regain access to the page I created under Great American Canyon Band. I would like to edit the page so that it meets the credible claim of significance standard. It was deleted, I've contacted the users who deleted the page through their 'talk ' page. Is this the correct process? Was the problem with the page that it lacked sources? Thanks!Sarahk.odo (talk) 20:10, 23 November 2015 (UTC)Reply

@Sarahk.odo: I don't have access to the page and can't remember its exact contents, but a lack of sources would certainly hurt it. More likely the problem was that the page did not make a credible assertion of notability. In order for a band to be included at Wikipedia, it must meet the criteria spelled out at WP:BAND. Most bands do not meet this criteria, which is as it should be, as Wikipedia is not intended to be an indiscriminate collection of everything that is. ArbCom elections are now open! edit

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. MC Mooks page deletion? edit

Hi Dan,

Russell here from Premier Beats Australia, may I please ask why MC Mooks page is considered for deletion? He is a very well known upcoming artist, he is followed by more than 51,000 fans on Facebook alone & continues to grow across more than 45 different countries. We have his 4th studio release being released on 18th December followed by more release's in early 2016. The producer we use is very notable & has produced songs such as https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cinderella_%28Shakaya_song%29

Could you please get back to me, thanks

Kind regards RussellPBA2015 (talk) 13:56, 24 November 2015 (UTC)Reply

@PBA2015: The criteria for inclusion for bands at Wikipedia are pretty clear. Significant coverage in independent publications is usually the baseline criterion to assure notability. Having songs or albums that have charted on a major national chart, being signed to a major label, national tours, etc, are signs that an artist is likely to be notable, but the gold standard is still independent coverage (because it is that independent coverage that we look for verification of the facts of an article). So far, MC Mooks doesn't appear to have reached any of those milestones yet. Not that he won't; just that he hasn't yet. You are free to disagree with this assessment, and to express your disagreement at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/MC Mooks. Please also know that, as an employee of Premier Beats Australia, you have a conflict of interest, and should not be the person creating articles about your company or its artists. Hey there! I am just starting out to write my own biography for wikipedia since there is an imposter posting details about my life on the thai wikipedia page namely แชมป์ ศุภวัฒน์. @Champtheartist: You violated Wikipedia's policy regarding biograpies of living persons which state that every biography of a living person requires at least one reliable source. You also violated the guidelines (less stringent than policies, but still should be followed) regarding autobiographies which state, in a nutshell, that you shouldn't write an article about yourself, and you should be very cautious in editing an article that others have written about you. If there were incorrect details at th:แชมป์ ศุภวัฒน์, I would suggest you address the matter there, but since that page does not appear to exist, I'm not sure what problem you're trying to solve. Userboxes edit

How do I add Userboxes to my user page? CAPTCHAman (talk) 15:30, 14 December 2015 (UTC)Reply

@CAPTCHAman: There are probably several ways to do it. The way I have done it on my user page is to use the {{Userboxtop}} // {{Userboxbottom}} templates. Between those two templates, I list the various userboxes I want on my page, with the various parameters needed by each. This lists them all nicely down the right margin of my page. As for the individual user boxes, if you see one on a user page that you'd like to use, edit the user page to see the source code that incorporates that userbox, and just copy it to your own page. (A word of caution: you are allowed to edit other users' userpages, but it is considered impolite to do so without good cause, so don't save any changes you might make while copying the userbox source code.) Hi Dan, please help me edit

I am trying to develop my wikipedia editing skills for my resume and decided to begin writing on any company, association or small business in my town (jupiter, fl) so that I could maybe help emphasis our town and those doing well in it. I started with a company down the road from my husbands work. I do not have any affiliation with them, I just picked them at random while visiting my husbands work (also unrelated, with no connection). i called and asked if they would allow me to create one for them (after finding through a search that they did not have one) and they agreed. To describe who they are and what they do is a bit difficult without using the wording that they have on their websites, so i called and asked permission and they said i could use whatever they had online. If I need to reword those few places that I did use their previously created content, then I can work on doing that, but I know they'd rather me word it a specific way as they are a non-profit and have to be described a certain way for legal reasons. If someone could please help me figure out what I'm doing wrong and how to become better at wikipedia, that'd be extremely helpful. I don't want to continue to make these kinds of mistakes when creating new content. Thank you! — Preceding unsigned comment added by WikiContentEditor (talkcontribs) 17:22, 17 December 2015 (UTC)Reply

@WikiContentEditor: However you happened across this company to write about them is irrelevant. The verbiage you copied from their LinkedIn page is protected by copyright and may not be reproduced here at Wikipedia without specific permission from the copyright owner. You can instruct the NTLA how to do that by pointing them to WP:Donating copyright material, but I wouldn't bother. Not only is the material copyrighted, it is blatantly promotional (which one might expect if it was copied from their LinkedIn page, a page where the company tries very hard to promote itself). And it is irrelevant how the organization wants themselves represented on Wikipedia. Wikipedia does not exist to represent companies in the way that those companies want to be represented. It is an independent source of information; the subjects of articles (be they companies, non-profit organizations, or individual people) do not get to dictate what their Wikipedia articles say. (See WP:OWN.) Finally, if you are unable to describe the operation of this company in your own words, then might I suggest you not include Wikipedia editing skills on your resume? One of the primary skills of a Wikipedia editor is the ability to write clear and original prose regarding the subject of their articles. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 17:36, 17 December 2015 (UTC)Reply

Clarification edit

I understand what you are saying about it sounding promotional, and I will adress those things as I begin to construct the page from scratch, but can you help me understand how pages like National Tax Association Asia Oceania Tax Consultants' Association are different and what they have done to be less promotional and more wikifriendly? WikiContentEditor (talk) 18:25, 17 December 2015 (UTC)Reply

@WikiContentEditor: I would venture to say that neither of those articles are very good either (and I have tagged them with the appropriate maintenance templates). I would not use them as a template on which to write your article. To see how good articles about organizations are written, take a look at the articles listed here. unintended consequences of assuming material that has "always" been in an entry is correct and new info is not edit

thanks for the "edits" on my biography but the corrections I made were because much of the information you restored is incorrect and demonstrably so -- happy to remove the "personal ruminations" which is a slippery definition poorly applied across Wikipedia but it is probably best for an "encyclopedia" editor to at least check the facts of a revision before deleting them and reintroducing errors written at least 5-6 years agoYsplanti420 (talk) 20:48, 22 December 2015 (UTC)Reply

@Ysplanti420: If, by using the phrase "my biography", you are identifying yourself as Jay DeDapper, please understand that Wikpedia discourages you from editing your own biography. If there are factual errors in your biography, you should point them out at the talk page and allow other, uninvolved editors to assess your claims and make the necessary changes. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 21:13, 22 December 2015 (UTC)Reply

Yes I recognize the "discouragement" but as a journalist of 20 years I seem to have a better handle on the facts than whoever decided to write this stuff about me -- none of which is bad it's just inaccurate. I'm happy to remove the whole entry if that's what will please your masters. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ysplanti420 (talkcontribs) 21:18, 22 December 2015 (UTC)Reply

Proposed deletion of Christopher Fairburn wikipedia.doc edit

The article Christopher Fairburn wikipedia.doc has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

WP:REDUNDANTFORK per Christopher Fairburn

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Cubbie15fan (talk) 16:55, 23 December 2015 (UTC)Reply

Why keep Christopher Fairburn wikipedia.doc, now it seems like a case of WP:R3, don't you think? Cubbie15fan (talk) 16:58, 23 December 2015 (UTC)Reply
@Cubbie15fan: A bit of research into the history of this page would have shown that it was created as the result of a move (I moved the improperly titled page to the properly titled page). The original author then came back and edited it again. Rather than a PROD, a simple REVERT would have solved the problem. You can tag it as an R3 if you like, but don't PROD it as a fork. Just curious - why is a discussion necessary? - the article is not written in English. Regards Denisarona (talk) 17:06, 23 December 2015 (UTC)Reply

@Denisarona: A discussion is necessary for two reasons:
  1. Because you asked for one by placing the {{AFD}} template on the page. This is not a "please delete this article" template, it is a "please let us have a discussion about this article to see if it should be deleted" template. If you didn't intend to start a discussion, you shouldn't have placed that template.
  2. Because non-English content is not automatically eligible for deletion. There are many reasons to delete an article: being written in a foreign language is not one of them. There are translators who are willing to translate such content into English if the page is properly listed at WP:PNT (which I have now done). If it is not translated in a timely fashion, then it can be deleted.
So, where shall we go with this? WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 17:10, 23 December 2015 (UTC)Reply
Many thanks for your addition to the AFD. If you care to check I'm not really good at deciphering computer instructions (took me 2 years to load TW and I'm still not sure I use it to its optimum) - I remember how to use a typewriter!!. Regards Denisarona (talk) 17:13, 23 December 2015 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for the info - I promise not to use AFD again. Regards Denisarona (talk) 17:14, 23 December 2015 (UTC)Reply
@Denisarona: So are you saying that you don't want to go forward with the AFD? That you placed that template in error? If so, I'll remove it. If you want to go forward with the AFD, you'll need to do that on your own. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 17:26, 23 December 2015 (UTC)Reply

PROD for Lemonade insurance edit

Hi WikiDan61. I wanted to talk over the PROD you placed on Lemonade insurance. Insurance is a topic I have some knowledge about, and Insurance Journal is one of the most widely read publications in the industry. Did you place the prod because of the WP:TOOSOON? I'm thinking of removing the prod, but I wanted to discuss first. Thanks! 78.26 (spin me / revolutions) 18:15, 23 December 2015 (UTC)Reply

@78.26: Yes, I placed the PROD because of TOOSOON. (I thought my rationale was pretty clear when I wrote it.) A company that hasn't even gotten off the floor yet really doesn't merit inclusion. If they manage to make a go of things, then their unique business model should definitely merit them inclusion, but if they don't, they're just another idea in the dustbin of history. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 18:20, 23 December 2015 (UTC)Reply

@WikiDan61: Thanks for the feedback on Draped Seated Woman - references now added. As it stood the article was wildly inaccurate and not well referenced - if the paragraph in question has been widely cited then there is now a lot of misinformation out there. There is no evidence that the sculpture was sold at below market value and Henry Moore's political leanings had no bearing on the sale to the LCC which was at a price broadly in line with the amount he charged to other clients (see the Henry Moore Foundation archives). There were seven casts not six as stated - the extra cast can be seen at Tate Britain. Most of the added information is contained in the High Court judgement - may be worth you reading it in full. Blue Light edit

I don't know who you are, but your attempt to make me give more sources away about my knowledge of Blue Light teams is sad. It also shows that you know what I am talking about and verify their existence. Please do not interfere any further. Thank you. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Wyonjek13 (talkcontribs)

@Wyonjek13: I have no idea what you're talking about. Apparently you have stumbled on to (or have yourself created) a conspiracy theory about the existence of military teams whose purpose is to recover alien spacecraft? Wikipedia has little tolerance for poorly supported fringe theories like this. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 22:28, 13 January 2016 (UTC)Reply
@WikiDan61: If you have no idea what I am talking about then what gives you the right to comment on my edits??? Conspiracy or fringe theories are always subject to plausibility since people would rather rely on blind ignorance and belief in propaganda than on original thought and meditation. Come out of the cave, or quit fighting. Wyonjek13 (talk) 14:58, 15 January 2016 (UTC)Reply
@Wyonjek13: I can comment on your edits because they go against Wikipedia policy, wherein we require reliable sources for the material we include. Your material had no reliable sources. My comment about not knowing what you're talking about referred to your statement "It also shows that you know what I am talking about and verify their existence." I don't know what you're talking about, and my ignorance does not verify anything. But my knowledge of Wikipedia policies allows me to comment on your content. If we require "original thought and meditation" to understand what you're talking about, that's a fine conversation to have at another venue, but it's not the stuff of Wikipedia. @WikiDan61: Fair enough, you're right about the policies and Wikipedia is not about original thought. So I will mention here my other research sources, like Muroc Air Force Base which is where the Blue Light teams are commanded from. Does it say all this outright? No, but it's there to formulate. Disambiguation link notification for January 26 edit

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited O Tahiti Nui Freedom, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page South Pacific. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Page Notability edit

Hi WikiDan61. I'm new to editing a wikipedia page. You questioned my organization's notability. I have added some additional sources. Can you give me some tips on how to improve the page? ThanksGingerrrr1972 (talk) 20:20, 28 January 2016 (UTC)Reply

Tollos Inc edit

How do I create a page about a company that is not considered advertising or any sort of promotion? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Bsnyder314 (talkcontribs) 20:20, 2 February 2016 (UTC)Reply

@Bsnyder314: By writing about the company in neutral, non-promotional language. For an example of how good company articles are written, look at the articles listed here. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 21:01, 2 February 2016 (UTC)Reply

recent company posting of tollos edit

I am ceo of Tollos. We are a specialty manufacturer of patient safety equipment, particularly patient lifting and patient bathing equipment. The patient lifting equipment is very new to the US but is the standard of care in Canada, Europe and Australia. I actually edited your description of patient lifters earlier today adding two paragraphs. Currently, caregivers have the highest back injury rate in the US over all other occupations including construction workers. There is bill pending in Congress but outcome is questionable. The use of these specialty ceiling lifts not only reduces/eliminates caregiver injuries but improves patient outcomes significantly as well (less pneumonia, fewer bed sores, faster/safer recovery..) and saves the healthcare facilities dollars from penalties for allowing some of these bad outcomes (called "never" events because they are not supposed to happen) to occur. However, since these products are relatively new to the US, many people try to find info online and for that reason it would be extremely helpful to have Tollos lifted since we are the emerging leader in this area. Let me know if that makes sense. Also I enjoy writing and would be happy to add some articles on this. By the way, an investigative reporter for NPR did a series of articles last year on how poorly hospitals protect their nurses. But none of this information is reflected in the Wikipedia section on lifts.

Let me know and thanks very much.Jonwiner (talk) 20:32, 2 February 2016 (UTC) Jon Winer, CEO/Chairman of TollosReply

@Jonwiner: While I'm sure Tollos makes a fine line of products that serve very useful purposes, Wikipedia is not a business directory, nor is it a place for you to promote your company. Wikipedia doesn't exist for companies to post articles about themselves; rather, articles about companies included in Wikipedia are (ideally) written by editors with no financial or other vested interest in the company. If there is information that you, as a person knowledgeable in the field, can add to the article on patient lifts, without using your edits to promote your own company, please feel free to do so. Please also remember that one of the pillars of Wikipedia is verifiability: the facts you add must be verifiable by references to independent, third party sources. As long as you can follow these guidelines, please help improve the project!!
