The sam ryder page

edit

As you are unaware of who sam ryder is, i am one of his closest friends and know him personally these are things of which he has genuinely said This is not vandalism as you have put and not a hoax Reubixcop (talk) 12:49, 5 January 2016 (UTC)Reply

Well, at least do the decent thing and tell me what was wrong with it so I can do it again and it not get deleted as this is just a misjudgement of that page and you thinking it is a "hoax". please reply thank you

All articles about living people have to meet WP:BIO and satisfy WP:BLP. In this case, it was light years away from that. The content included lines claiming he was "a civil rights activist for builders as his main belief was that builders should be allowed marry other people....his most popular invention was the transparent car, this was because he thought that then the people outside of the car couldn't see inside."
Wikipedia is a serious project, not the place for your wee jokes about your mates and any articles like that that you waste your time creating will be very short lived, as there are hundreds of us who monitor new articles. If you do want to work seriously here, then I and other editors will be only too happy to help you. However, if you really do want to be taken seriously edits like this are not the way to go. Donald Trump politician

edit

As of yet, Donald Trump is not a politician, because he has not held elected office yet. If you have sources that say that, in fact, he is a politician, then please feel free to add them, and I will apologize for my error. Otherwise, please do not add that he is a politician. Thanks. epicgenius (talk) 14:25, 2 March 2016 (UTC)Reply

How is a candidate for public office a politician? User:Brisbane1965 15:01, 2 March 2016 (UTC)Reply

Let's continue the discussion on the Donald Trump talk page and @Epicgenius, I'm not sure where the apology stuff comes in? All of us have different views on Wikipedia, nothing to apologise for. Valenciano (talk) 15:37, 2 March 2016 (UTC)Reply

I started the procedure to have the New Wave of British Heavy Metal article promoted to WP:FA. Wikipedia:Featured article candidates/New Wave of British Heavy Metal/archive1 needs discussants. Since you were a contributor to the article, I am hoping you might give some comments. Lewismaster (talk) 08:58, 10 April 2016 (UTC)Reply

A debate has risen during the review about the term "movement" used to describe the NWOBHM. It would be greatly appreciated if you could add your opinion on the matter. Lewismaster (talk) 08:06, 16 April 2016 (UTC)Reply
I missed this at the time due to travel. Unfortunately, I was only a minor contributor and don't know enough about the subject to contribute in any meaningful way. Valenciano (talk) 15:59, 10 May 2016 (UTC)Reply

Doug Beattie

edit

Without any axe to grind would you mind if I pointed out that I wasn't editorialising on the Doug Beattie article. The election as an MLA, for any person is an advancement in their political career and a move up from being a councillor. That's why I wrote the snippet as I did, because he most definitely has "further advanced his political standing". I apologise for the error regarding his election to ABC. I was under the impression after talking to him that he had been elected to Craigavon Borough Council. SonofSetanta (talk) 15:39, 9 May 2016 (UTC)Reply

No problem. But it's best to just state the facts in articles like that, "further advanced his political standing" is commentary (WP:EDITORIAL.) It will be clear to most readers that he has advanced his standing, without us saying that. He's not listed among people elected to Craigavon in 2011 and the merger wouldn't affect things anyway, as new elections were held. Valenciano (talk) 15:45, 9 May 2016 (UTC)Reply
If that's your opinion then I'm happy with it. On reflection I could have worded it better. SonofSetanta (talk) 15:51, 9 May 2016 (UTC)Reply

South Gloucestershire (UK Parliament constituency)

edit

I've just reverted a series of edits which seemed to me not to contribute anything positive to the article, but would welcome another pair of eyes as you're obviously interested in constituencies! Thanks. PamD 14:49, 10 May 2016 (UTC)Reply

PamD my eyes are open! I'll keep an eye on it and, just for the record, I think your reversion was correct. Valenciano (talk) 15:57, 10 May 2016 (UTC)Reply

Melcous, think you've got the wrong person. That user page isn't mine. Twinkle, twinkle little star.... Valenciano (talk) 13:53, 17 May 2016 (UTC)Reply
Yes sorry Valenciano, - I'm assuming you must have started the talk page to warn them about their editing, hence you being flagged by TW as its "creator." It sure would be nice to find a way to stop twinkle from doing this but it's beyond my ken ... Have a great day! Melcous (talk) 14:16, 17 May 2016 (UTC)Reply

Jamala

I am responding to this question of yours. The article was written in a mixture of English and some in Cyrillic text within the prose and no Latin alphabet next to the Cyrillic or even English translation of those words, which is a requirement on English Wikipedia. As I am not familiar with text-translation from Cyrillic to Latin alphabet, I followed procedure and placed the {{Not English}} template so that those who are familiar may assist. However, I managed to use Google Translator in order to carry out the Latin text myself and thus removed the template as it was no longer required. Wes Mouse  11:17, 19 May 2016 (UTC)Reply

Wesley Mouse got it. On WP:PNT there's a better and more specific section for that. Happy editing! Valenciano (talk) 11:35, 20 May 2016 (UTC)Reply
Oh I never knew of that template. Thank you for pointing it out to me. I shall be adding that to my list of useful templates, for future reference. Wes Mouse  11:38, 20 May 2016 (UTC)Reply

Sorry, i had a mistake due to browser crash. Last edit should have been added to the bottom section (relegation), whilst the previous edit (promotion playoffs) was done as it should be. Franforce

Ok. I thought it was something like that. Valenciano (talk) 07:35, 21 May 2016 (UTC)Reply

Frank Doran (British MP)

edit

(From Records of members of parliament of the United Kingdom). Having seen your reasons in the Edit page, I say you are right to remove him from the list of those MPs who made more than one comeback, but he DID have ONE period of absence (1992-97) from the Commons after losing his first seat and before gaining his second.Cloptonson (talk) 21:55, 20 May 2016 (UTC)Reply

Cloptonson, yes, sorry, I meant to say no period of absence after 1997. Thanks for the clarification. Valenciano (talk) 07:35, 21 May 2016 (UTC)Reply

Anglican Diocese of Ontario -

edit

For some time now, an individual has been placing information on the Anglican Diocese of Ontario page and the connected pages of several of its Bishops (including living). This individual has posted information on a "Controversy" which has a) received publicity b) been in the courts as a class action suit and c) been the subject of an Police Investigation. In doing so, he is seeking to drive a particular view and also promote a book he has written.

This individual will not allow complete facts to be posted, including Court Decisions, Police Statements and newspaper article. He continually removes any references which does not support his perspective and agenda, regardless of the references and facts presented (including Court and Crown Attorney Decisions).

If the complete story cannot be presented, the entire section should be removed. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 205.210.52.219 (talk) 21:39, 16 June 2016 (UTC)Reply

In that case you should present the counter facts per WP:NPOV and use the article's talk page. If that individual continues, seek a third opinion or use the dispute resolution noticeboard. Removing the information will not go down well (see WP:NOTCENSORED) and may result in someone blocking you if you continue edit warring over the content.
